Nikita

Chapter 95 - Answering To The Authorities

[NIKITA]

[Location: AT THE TODOROV MILITARY COMMAND BASE]

"Lieutenant Commander's Qiao Xi and Ekarolina Tabakov," Colonel Dmytri called the Commanders who had been freaking on the other side of his door.

"Yes, sir"

"Yes, sir," the two Commanders answered s they carefully pushed open the door to the Colonel's office. Now dressed in their black military wear, the two Commanders walked into the office, careful not to cause any more trouble.

They had always been in this room at the base, but not once had they ever thought that they would ever come in here because of their own disciplinary action. The Colonel's office was beautiful in its own unique way.

There were ships and gun relics all over, and bullets and even a baseball bat were right there at the corner. The room itself was painted white inside, a symbol of how pure the office was supposed to be, but here and now, there was trouble.

The Colonel in question sat on his wooden Russian chair, which made him look even more dangerous. In front of him and on his desk were papers and books and not a computer.

He never saw any use for computers in his own office when he could just walk to the next door and see how the operations were ongoing. The Colonel was dressed in his green army clothes, and he was an older man in his Sixties.

He looked so tired of everything that had happened that the Commanders probably knew nothing of it. He was still wearing his hat and still in his military coat, maybe because the weather was so pleasant today.

It was cold outside, which didn't surprise many considering winter was around the corner.

Colonel Dmytri looked at the two Commanders who were in front of him, studying them or any brain damages because he knew for a fact that his elite Commanders wouldn't make a decision so stupid that would make the public question every decision they had made in the military.

Sure he was aware there had to be some ready for all this, but why pick the company that had the worst of active controversies surrounding it at the moment? Why take the one with the harshest of jobs?

What the hell were they thinking?

If he could beat the access of his two Commanders, then Colonel Dmytri would have done it long ago. But he knew the two idiots were good at what they did. They were brilliant, and while he wished that was untrue, he couldn't dismiss them for being lazy on the job.

These two humans would make all of his hair grow out, and he would be as bald as his mother's pans.

It went without saying that on regular occasions, Commander Xi and Commander Tabakov always made the old Colonel question his sanity more than once.

And for the first time, even though they were making him question everything he believed in, the Colonel wanted to know what it was that could have motivated two of his best warriors to go out there and be the face of the most controversial company.

There had to be a reason, or maybe they had business with the scandalous heir of the Pavlenkos. No one in public called Nikita the doctor he was, and right now, everyone thought of him as having scandalous hair.

Way too scandalous to the point that the military soldiers had to force him to hand down all the wealth. It was crazy how much impact one decision to save Mykolajki Rosrova Pavlenko from himself had on the country and its militants.

The government would come questioning, and the corporations would need answers for the sudden change. The public would need solutions and, more than anything, and the hospital would need answers as to why the good doctor had disappeared and left behind a dark trail of insanity.

There was a chance that Nikita's decisions about his patients would be under review. Still, the doctor was too busy ȧssessing the stolen body parts from Renata to even care about some half-assed apology the world and the society demanded of him.

He knew his friends would take off the what from him because of his promise, but fuċk, that was a hard promise to keep. That was terrible, but what option was there for them?

"Do you know why you're both in here?" the Colonel asked the two lieutenant Commanders who just looked at each other, almost like they were trying to agree on a standard answer subconsciously.

However, even the heavens knew that the day Qiao Xi and Carrie agreed on anything without a fight would be the day hell would freeze over. or it would be the day that too much was at stake than even they were not sure of what decision to make.

No one would blame them, though. Standing there in front of the Colonel, the two soldiers knew what awaited them beyond every yes and no they said today. And they were ready to pay the price for it. Besides, it couldn't all be that bad, right?

Surely there would be a little humanity even if they were being driven to hell, right? Hopefully, they would miss each other, though.

"No sir,'' Qiao said, and Carrie fought the urge to smile at her friend's stupidity. Of course, they knew why they had been called in.

Qiao wasn't just sure what answer was supposed to be the correct one. For a Lieutenant Commander who had gone to wars and won, this bastard was sure scared of the least of things.

"Lieutenant Commander Tabakov, could you care to enlighten Lieutenant Commander Xi here why you both were called in?" Colonel Dymitri asked. He knew they would try to play him, but he counted on honesty.

Well, they were always honest with him, but this bunch was the craziest set of lieutenant Commanders that the Colonel had ever met since he got stationed at Todorov.

With them, the Colonel was always fighting for his sanity, trying to convince himself that life wasn't so bad when the two bastards had made it their mission to make him go insane. Maybe this time, they would have mercy on his poor self, but would they?

Would the wild Commanders give him peace one more time, or would they be their usual charming selves and make him regret everything he had ever done or never done for them and to them? They were bitches, and he wasn't going to deny that.

"Yes, sir," Carrie answered respectfully. Their legs were almost tied for standing, but even though she was a vocal idiot, asking for permission to sit when she was in the wrong wasn't just it today. They deserved this and more, especially for putting the military in a fixed situation.

Sure, they were confident they would get out of it, but the cost was the issue. How much were they willing to pay for Nikita's health?

Would it all ever be worth it in the end, or was their selflessness just a lost cause?

"Go ahead."
