Nikita

Chapter 99 - Of Peaceful Entries

[NIKITA]

"Boss, are you coming today?" Kyle asked Nikita.

It had been three days since he had told them that he would show up at their hideout, and while they didn't want to be clingy or anything, they had all been looking forward to seeing Nikita.

They wanted to see for themselves whether he was okay or all of that was just talk to make them focus on their missions and not worry about him.

Kyle was adamant and needed to know the good doctor was doing fine, and that's why he kept calling; even when Nikita would turn him down instantly, he would go on to give Nikita a hundred reasons why they needed to see him.

Of course, they both understood that the doctor wasn't avoiding his team, but still, they all needed a little motivation to do things, and Nikita was his team's motivation.

"I'll come by today, and I still need to go to the estate and see Natalya. It's been a while, and I don't want her thinking the house is hers," Nikita said to Kyle, who just agreed.

He knew Nikita would show up whenever he wanted to and not a minute less. They were his foot soldiers, sure, but he had to deal with other things, and at the moment, he wanted to see for himself whether Natalya was capable of betraying him.

He still hasn't recovered from the fact that Samantha had called Natalya, her mother. Natalya had been in the Pavlenko household for years and years, long before Nikita himself was born, so it just didn't make sense that she decided to betray him right when he needed her the most.

Maybe there was an explanation to all of this, and even if there was, would Natalya open up and tell him about Arya or Andrew and the other wolves? Would she be willing to risk the identities of the rebel and the wolves?

That was something none of them had planned for, and until Arya Knight gave the order, they would stay shut. However, Nikita didn't know that, which is why he was frustrated and diving over the limit to get home.

He was angry, but he wasn't going to lash out at Natalya. Hopefully, he didn't lose his cool with her. Then again, he wondered what could happen to Natalya was if Nikita allowed Rael and Morgana to question her.

If that happened, there would be no more secrets or plans to save the doctor, but hey, it was all worth a try, right?

"You are going above the speed limit," the automated voice ȧssistant told Nikita, but the doctor didn't care. He wanted to let everything go, but then he had already made a promise to Carrie, which he couldn't break.

"You are going above the speed limit," the voice ȧssistant said again, and Nikita tried getting the speakers off while he drove, but then it was pointless.

His SUV was never broken, which meant that all the systems were functional. Besides, he couldn't make the damn thing shut up unless he slowed down, but he wasn't going to slow down. Nikita thought about Samantha and how she had played him.

He thought of the possibilities that the woman had had all that information beforehand and used it to get to him. He knew there was more to that woman, but he couldn't help desiring to learn more.

Of course, he had promised himself that he would steer off any women who wanted to get laid by him. He was just not available anymore. The women he had gotten to his bed had betrayed him, with one telling him to run and not to stop.

What the fuċk was that even supposed to mean and what was Nikita to run away from? Several things weren't just making sense, and the more Nikita thought about everything, the more confused he was.

He was thankful for his legion and his friends for the first time because who knows whether he could have managed to fix everything. Nothing he did was his own doing, and he had a support system, from the hospital, to the military and to his legion.

Then again, unknown to him, he also had a team of wolves which a gracious and rebellious rebel had commanded to keep him safe. He would be getting the best of care, and he wasn't even aware of it yet.

He would be thankful for even the ants he usually stepped on or drove over for existing. He was ready to do anything to get Yuri.

Nikit thought of the conversation between Natalya and Samantha, and he was sure he was losing his sanity.

"The memory card was the best distraction, but that kid never cares about anything these days. I had to send Liam to the hospital to get him.

"It was fun seeing Liam's scared face, and what was even pleasing me was the way young Pavlenko looked at Liam in disgust, care, and whatever the fuċk he was feeling at the moment. Poor guy," Samantha had said, and Nikita couldn't help but feel helpless.

He had trusted Natalya. He had made sure the woman had the best care. He had loved her like one of her family members. He had respected her and cared for her, maybe more than he should have, and she had betrayed him.

She knew everything. That thought alone got Nikita stepping on the gas, ignoring all the honks he was getting. His driving was so crazy you'd think he was on the freeway when he hadn't even realized that he had made the last corner to his home.

He wanted answers, but he needed to talk to Natalya and ask her in a manner that she wouldn't be suspicious of him. He wanted to get to know everything without making the woman feel like she was benignly suspected of anything.

Maybe he would start by asking about the cleaning or anything that could make Nikita feel a little less lost in his own world. He couldn't lose to Natalya either, and he just couldn't, and he wasn't ready to lose another person.

It would crush him and break his spirit.

He was desperate not to lose Natalya because this woman not only knew him, but she also knew how to comfort him. He just couldn't, and that would be the west's loss after the loss six months ago.

"Oh, mom, you really know this family so well. And the footage you leaked to the media, that was awesome. I can't wait to know what he will do once he knows that you betrayed him.

"That's kinda harsh though, haha," Samantha had said, and Nikita still pressed on the gas, ramming through the Pavlenko gates and into their property and triggering all the alarms.

'So much for not causing attention,' Nikita thought to himself when the guards came to check on him.

He truly had gone crazy.
