No Choice: You Were Always Mine

Chapter 1 - The Bachelorette

'Ughh', My luck with guys suck and now I'm put in this situation due to that.

I came back home for a break from my hectic schedule, a schedule which I love but decided I needed some time for myself.

As a typical Indian girl, I am at the age where I need to get married and settle down. That is the current conversation which my family is having making comments as if I am not sitting right in front of them...

"Samaiya, this wouldn't have happened if you just found a good boy, we would have respected your decision." My mom was talking to the dazed me, who was too tired to care. My dad immediately butted in my mom's conversation saying, "Hon, she is too young to get married and even we travelled the seven seas, we would never find a guy good enough for her."

I would like to say my dad was on my side but he was just in his whole world, where his daughters are the most precious things.

"This is the reason she has never been able to have a successful relationship, its because you never allowed her to experience one. Isn't it sad that our daughter has never truly had a happy relationship."

My gran finally decided to step in, "Tomorrow we are going to a matchmaker and giving your picture. He will surely get you a guy." Everyone became quiet anticipating my reply. "Ok," I agreed.

"You have to list... you are saying yes you can't take back your words," my gran gleefully exclaimed. "Hmm," It's not like I was left with much of a choice. "But..." Everyone froze, "You have to allow me to meet these people before I agree to their proposal, I don't want someone who is an asshole." I said without any filter to express my feelings. My mom and my gran quickly agreed. That is how my story into a very unexpected fate began.

The next day

My grandmother quickly woke me up, screaming in my ears, "Samaiya wake up! We have to get your picture taken so we can send it to the matchmaker."

"What time is it?" I g.r.o.a.n.e.d I came home to relax not wake up at 5 am!

"Che, stop complaining and get your lazy bum out of the bed." my gran continued insisting until I left the bed. Man, I forgot the gran alarm clock.

"Fine!" I agreed just so that my ears would stop ringing. At that moment I could hear a giggle which quickly turned into a full-on laugh at the door of my room. I turned my head to glare at the person who was laughing at my situation. Was not surprised to see my little sis laughing at my pain. How dare she! I was about to snap at her when my gran looked at my sis with a sparkle in her eyes and said, "Akshara, you're awake! Good. Hurry up and get ready you need to help your sister."

I watched as my sisters face warped from smugness to horror, "Gran, what are you saying! I woke up only to show-off to sis that I could stay in bed." My sis w.h.i.n.ed, her face was satisfying.

To put fuel to the fire I said to gran, "Dadi, I need sis for moral support." I quickly turned to my sis and said, "Aksh won't you help your sister, you know how difficult this is for me."

"No way am I going with you guys to god knows where to just help my sister look pretty. Which by the way is impossible," my sis started to w.h.i.n.e, but when she saw the big boss, my mom entering the room she quickly stopped whining.

"Akshara shut up, you're giving me a headache. You will go with us whether you like it or not," my mother said in a voice that no one could refute against.

Even though she said this I could see my gran bribing my sis with a 2000 rupee note, so that she would come with us without any further whining.

Like this me, my gran, my mom and my sis went on a shopping spree to make me look good in the photos that would be sent to the prospective grooms.

I don't know how many sarees I wore to satisfy my family before they chose a baby blue one which had floral embroidery on the border. I was happy that I did work out or else these sarees would not look flattering at all.

My family then sent the picture of me in the baby blue saree and then me in a white formal shirt with a well-fitted black plant and red heels to complete the look. My family didn't want me to use this photo but I'm living in the 21st century just because something shows my curves does not mean I am committing a sort of sin and the outfit was a business look. The saree wasn't exactly hiding anything either. With this, the day had finally come to an end and I was exhausted.

In a building,

A man was admiring the multiple pictures his soon to be in-laws sent him. He was looking at the girl who had stolen his heart and would soon become his. She had an oval face, with caramel-like skin. Her hair fell perfectly at her shoulders. She had brown, peac.o.c.k-shaped eyes and had lips that any man would want to taste.

The man could not believe that this goddess was truly going to become his, the only thing he had to do was seduce her so that he could quickly start a family with her.

This put a smile on the man's face. His employees were stunned to see such a warm smile on their boss' face, which brought the man's handsomeness to a completely different level.
