Not Like In The Movies

The cold had gone out of the air, and slowly the start of spring had come to Beijing, to Tianjin, to Qinhuangdao. The days were warm now, and the nights were cool. People no longer wrapped themselves up warmly and snuggle closer to the heater. People no longer dressed heavily to be warmer, particularly Beijing and Qinhuangdao. The flowers had already started to bloom in the south.

Fei Shuang had been attending pt session for almost five months.

Li Chu used other techniques apart from exercise she received as her treatment like massage, joint mobilizations, or modalities—like ultrasound—to help her feel better. While passive treatments felt good, they were not the only treatment she received. He also added an active component to her rehab program which includes various types of ther.a.p.eutic pt exercising equipments like foam rollers, resistance bands, therapy balls, free weights & dumbbells,balance & wobble board,towels & straps, etc.

She found it weird that her friend-relationship with Li Chu had grown even stronger than ever. After finding out he could change his attitude so quickly, she realized he wasn't a two faced guy like other patients said. (T/N : two faced: kind outside,evil inside). He always had a cold demeanor before but now,he seemed calmer towards her.

Her relationship with Yang Mi had also made progress. They would visit each other often and talk about many things.

After all these months, Fei Shuang had always thought of forgetting Cao Feng completely. She always told herself that she could move on and completely drop the matter. She would sometimes remember Cao Feng whenever she stare at empty space for a while because of how much he'd affected her life. There were so many good memories that she found it hard to forget and stubbornly tried to keep them—like when she would stole a glance at him during classes and he would wink at her after noticing— how he always calmed her down when she was nervous—like when he confessed his feelings for her while blushing hard—when he pulled up in his car whistling her name—whenever he'd open up a beer and say 'get over here and play a video game'—

like kissing in the blue dark,saying she's the bestest and so many more...He was her first love,her one true love,perhaps.

She came to a conclusion that keeping those memories was a bad idea. Instead, she'd learnt to just accept it as the past. She'd learnt to move on and had finally decided in her heart to forget him completely.

Fei Shuang had also accepted the fact that she's disabled,and nothing can be done.

She had once believed that people with disabilities all lived off of the government and that's how they liked it but no!

First of all in reality, many people with disabilities have advanced degrees and respectable jobs. Others wanted nothing more than to find employment,just like her. It was extremely difficult for her to find jobs. She'd got to find a job she was physically able to do and one she was qualified for. Then she had to beat out all of the able-bodied candidates applying for the same position. Other barriers included the fact that benefits essential for survival could be lost.

Even after facing so many challenges, she still couldn't get a job and decided to start her own business.

That day, Fei Shuang pulled her hair in a bun,dressed herself in a light dress and maneuvered to the exit.

It was a sweltering Saturday afternoon, just the perfect weather to seek refuge in the air-conditioned shopping mall in district T. As she entered the shopping mall using her wheelchair,Mojin point, the cold air swept across her face, leaving a refreshing sensation.

  The scene that greeted her was that the place was bustling with activities. Many parents were tagging their small children along with them and pushing strollers with young babies fallen asleep peacefully inside. There were also a few couples who strolled hand in hand lovingly, looking around casually for suitable clothes to try. That reminded her of her loneliness and the boredom of being single,piercing her heart like an arrow while letting out a deep sigh.

The place was crammed like sardines and there was hardly any space to move. Sometimes the customers' skin even brushed against each other! No,she didn't want to get crushed.

  Fei Shuang then proceeded to the second floor via the escalator after scanning the crowd briefly. Over at the second floor, it was relatively less crowded as it was the typical lunch hour, so the customers were enjoying their lunch in the restaurants. There was a famous supermarket named Hot storage, a popular comic-shop and HD cinema just to name a few shops. Additionally, there were a variety of restaurants to choose from- ranging from local delicacies to popular Korean cuisine favoured by the youth, the customers were spoilt for choice for their dining selections. The appealing smell of food wafted out of the restaurants into her nose. To stop tempting herself any further from eating as she already had her lunch and her stomach was full, she continued her exploration around the mall.

  Next, the banners around the mall stating that there was a Great Beijing Sale in C, the departmental store, led her to the third floor. As it was humongous and occupied the whole of the level. The sale explained clearly why many middle-aged women were selecting their daily necessities they needed and men were trying on business apparel- as they could gain a discount of 50% off all the products bought only on that day. While the sales promoter was introducing a particular product, a few curious families gathered around to watch. The loud noisy chattering and discussions of the customers resonated around the department store and Fei Shuang's ears to the extent that she wanted to leave the store badly. However, an adorable stuffed toy with a red heart head,black eyes-black eyebrows,yellow mouth with a black stripe in the middle, blue body with yellow dots caught her eye in an instant. Beneath the toy was written "BT21 character,TATA". (T/N: BT21 are a group of idol wannabes and a project of LINE FRIENDS CREATORS and BTS. TATA is the most popular character of BT21).

Seeing that she was interested, a friendly sales staff approached her and told her that it was the perfect time to purchase it, but the long, snake-like queue which only ended at the corner of the store dissuaded her from buying it.

  As Fei Shuang received a text message from Zhen Zhu that she needed to head home soon, she maneuvered her wheelchair & exited the department store and left the shopping mall. She had a fun time observing the customers in the shopping mall and would definitely return again to visit.

Just as she was about to call for Didi,a white cab dropped by her. (T/N: Didi-chinese uber).

The glass slide down and a familiar voice could be heard. "Miss Lee, what a surprise."
