"Mo Yi Fan! Are you using your phone in class!?" The teacher's strong voice peaked.

His daunting footsteps were approaching oblivious Yi Fan as the nosy students started to ambiguously whisper amongst themselves. Yi Fan was still blindly in the process of turning off his notifications for WeChat before a rough hand promptly swiped the phone out of Yi Fan's hand.

"Hey!" Yi Fan yelled, then haltingly recognizing the angry a.d.u.l.t beside him. "T-teacher Zhe."

"I thought you weren't like the others, Yi Fan. I am disappointed in you." Teacher Zhe said, visibly upset.

Xiao Ming snickered, crisp and resounding to Yi Fan's large ears. Yi Fan threw a nasty glance to intimidate him, but Xiao Ming was already busy looking down at his phone.

'The irony!' Yi Fan bitterly thought. 'That annoying kid goes on his phone every day, but no one catches him. This is so unfair...'

Xiao Ming finally noticed Yi Fan's uncivil stare, but unfortunately at the wrong time. Yi Fan fumbled in his thoughts in surprise and before he can think up something smart, Xiao Ming just gave back a provocative stick of his tongue.

Yi Fan's eyes heatedly lowered into slits, a murderous intent revealing itself. Though Yi Fan wouldn't literally kill to kill Xiao Ming, he wanted to murder Xiao Ming regardless.

----

It was after school.

Yi Fan politely begged for forgiveness from the science teacher, and he reluctantly let Yi Fan off with a warning and gave back his phone.

Afterward, Yi Fan immediately met up with Yi Fei like usual but started to go out the side entrance. This was because fewer kids were going through this gate since it led to smaller neighborhoods while the front gate was densely packed and awfully difficult to get through. This path was a quiet detour that Yi Fan and Yi Fei liked to take time to time.

-

AwesomePowerRanger: Ey, waiitng for u to paly arcade

Yi Fan: go away

-

Yi Fan quickly turned off his ringer since it was too much of a bother to turn off notifications. Right now, he just wanted to quietly walk with his sister. That was all he d.e.s.i.r.ed.

"Brother, why are we taking a detour today?" Yi Fei asked.

She was leisurely skipping along the colorful etches of hopscotch messily drawn on the ground. In pastel chalk, cute sketches of animals and miscellaneous things surrounded the boxes and numbers of a game.

"Just wanted to get some air," Yi Fan gently replied, carefully watching her steps in case she got hurt.

"Air? There's air everywhere!" Yi Fei comically spun around. She watched her small world become dizzy as she heartily breathed in full breaths, feeling more energized than ever.

"Hehe, someone like you wouldn't understand," Yi Fan said.

"Hey!" Yi Fei tried to stop suddenly in the midst of her whirl, drunkenly trying to point a finger at Yi Fan. The sudden gravity pull was too much for her current state of mind, causing Yi Fei to twisted her ankle to the side and slowly incoming a concrete fall. Luckily, Yi Fan was dutifully prepared and awkwardly caught her, both painfully falling on their b.u.t.t.

"Why are you so reckless?" Yi Fan muttered, sorely getting up.

"I'm sorry, Brother. Didn't mean to," Yi Fei smiled without care.

Yi Fan unhurriedly waited for his thoughtless sister to get up to continue on their way, but Yi Fei merely raised her waiting hand like a spoiled brat. Almost conveniently, Yi Fan remembered his sister wanting to play castle. She assigned herself to be a princess while Yi Fan was supposed to be a fellow knight, bottom rank.

"...Here you go, my princess," Yi Fei obediently played along.

He flippantly held her right hand, slowly letting Her Majesty rise.

"Hmph. Fetch me some ice tea!" Yi Fei sharply commanded, unnaturally pursing her lips.

"Fetch you some ice tea?" Yi Fan shouted gallantly. "Sir Knight thinks you're being unreasonable!"

He went in for a tickle attack at her most vulnerable place: her sides. Going from both sides, Yi Fan worked his fingers, perhaps you can call it magic, causing Yi Fei to react deliriously. She wildly laughed from the bottom of her belly, tears in her eyes as she couldn't defend her poor self.

"Ah! Ah! I give up! Truce! Truce!" Yi Fei heavily wheezed in giggles.

"Sir Knight will let you off... for now," Yi Fan smirked.

And so, the two Yi siblings went on home quarreling and joking with smart remarks and petty attacks. Compared to those wuxia and system novels, their lives could be compared to a lengthy car ride with few tiny bumps on the road. There was not much else going on in their ordinary lives, and Yi Fan and Yi Fei were content. They wouldn't ask for anything more simply because they feared things could change.

So how could they ever expect this was the last day they acted as siblings?
