NPC’s Domination

Chapter 45 - Elven meeting

The meeting was happening in a hole in a tree, hidden by some bark that camouflaged the entrance of the meeting place. In it there was a space disatortion happening to accomodate all the elders and significant authorities that had to decide what to do, now that every youth of their village had been eliminated except from a few girls who had decided to become priests and stayed back.

The moment I came in, the faces of the discussing members turned to me and silenced. Uncomfortably, I looked to the ground and walked to an empty space besides one of an elder woman. There I sat down and after a while of intense staring, they continued talking as if nothing had happened. Only, they ignored me completely.

Finally, after a few minutes, another male in leather armour and a quiver with bow hanging around his shoulder and a female member in robes with a wooden staff entered the room and everybody quieted down again and stood up. With a respectful voice they said: "We greet the first elders."

Then they sat down again and waited for the elders to say something to them that explained the chaotic situation. And very soon after, they started talking together. "The evil we face is great. However, we shall never yield to them. We defy them an easy prey. The reason we have gathered here, is because our youth has been exterminated by residual players. Our guest here, a human, has succeeded in killing their leader and we finally have space to breathe. A thank you for her. Another reason, why we have gathered here, is because of what will happen in the future."

Unrest spread through the ranks of the elders, hunters and priests. They started whispering things to each other that they had heard through rumours. Then they asked a question that everybody was capable of confirming: "You all received the quest relating to the main deity, right?" After they saw everybody confirming, by nodding their heads, they continued: "And you all saw the quest gives us the blessing of the god, right?" Again, a round of confirming nods, but this time with a glint of understanding in their eyes.

"That's why we need to save him. When we save him, we save us. That's the reason why we need to build a squad that is capable of succeeding in gathering all the required materials. When we do so, we will get a blessing, that enables us to produce offspring with a much higher fertility rate than any other elven clans."

And with that, without even having to speak in a big debate about what to happen, the way of the future had been laid out and now the only thing left to talk about, was the composition of the squad that should save Kishtan.

Suddenly, Quin got a message.

[Quin, love, could you please hurry up. Your dad will go crazy by doing nothing in his bubble. In one month, there could be a disaster after he is overtaken by the evil force inside of him. Hurry, one month is left, and Quin, I believe in you.

With my greatest love and kisses,

Your sister, Aqua]

While the first elder spoke, this message came up and it affected my entire mindset. I hadn't yet realised that the deities of the multiverse had become her siblings. However the conent of the message let her gain a state of chaos that caused her to accidentally let out a gasp.

After the first elder stopped speaking and turned towards her, everybody else turned around as well and me, who was in the centre of all attention in the meeting, turned beet-red and just wanted to say that it was nothing, but then remembered the topic of the meeting.

With a low voice, I started talking: "Dear elders, priests and as well, hunters. I just got a message from my sister, who is in connection with priests, that the situation is worse than we anticipated. In already a month, the disease, under which the main deity is plagued, will force him to do things, which he normally wouldn't do. The squad of which you all are talking about, has to include me and we have to start searching for them today already. If not, we run the risk of the worlds getting destroyed."

These words caused a panic to happen and now even the first elder and the high priestess in the village whispered with each other, with a panical look on their faces. They calmed themselves and asked Quin directly and with a suspicious gaze: "And who is your 'sister who is in connection with priests'? Isn't this all a trick to take away the blessing from us that we would receive when we offer the materials that are needed?"

That was a valid concern, if you had a darker mindset than Quin, who just wanted to help Kishtan.

"No, I don't want the blessing. You can have it for that your clan may prosper. The thing I want to create, is peace all over the worlds. Nobody should die a useless death in a war that was incited because some mental illness affected the mind of one individual." With a thought she added, 'and if I wanted the blessing, I could just ask daddy.'

With nods of confirmation, the elves appreciated her answer and immediately they started assembling the remaining warriors, hunters, priests and all those who would be useful and weren't elderly or too young to even fight.

In the end, the force they brought together, was less than fifty people, which was way too few people for a world quest like that, but it was the only thing they were able to compose in the moment. For another fifty or so elven fighters for them to join them, they would need to either recruit them from other villages, but they would have to share the blessing, or wait for a hundred years, because only then some younglings of the elven force could join them. Elves had after all a very long life, but a very small birth rate, and they couldn't wait for so long.

So, they had to leave like this, with Quin as their leader, hoping to get another message from Kishtan or her new siblings that would help her in finding the required ingredients.
