Ocean Of Broken Dreams

Chapter 26 - [Godly Spirit]

The obelisk silently pierced the sky and slightly illuminated the surrounding area with rainbow radiance. The people were looking warily around, expecting some danger.

"We finished, Lord!" – Said at some point the hooded man.

Around the obelisk there were three concentric circles of runes ready to be activated at any moment.

Captain gestured to proceed, and the hooded man placed his hand on the nearest rune.

It immediately started glowing with many different lights. The second rune also started coming to life. Then the third, the fourth, the fifth…until every single one was pulsating with colors and life.

The most first inner circle started restricting towards the obelisk and once the runes got in contact with its base they immediately exploded into myriad of other, small like specks of dust, runes which were immediately absorbed into the glass surface.

Then it was the second circle's turn to crash against the obelisk and be absorbed.

At the end the third one also broke following the destiny of the previous two.

After three rounds of absorbing the obelisk shined at least five times brighter than before and Nameless had difficulties to look directly at it.

The people around the altar already felt that probably the most dangerous thing was exactly the construction radiating rainbows, behind their backs.

*Puff*

A muffled sound was followed by a cry of pain. Everyone looked over there only to one of the people pierced by a long glass spike. One of its extremities was extremely pointed while the other one had a chain connecting it directly to the obelisk.

*Puff* *Puff* … *Puff*

The spikes rained on the innocent people. No one could escape. Everyone was pierced and slowly fell on the ground.

'I was right. The only useful thing we had, was our life…' Thought Nameless while imagining his own body there, also pierced.

He shivered and felt that he was lucky to have awakened his bloodline on the third island.

The chains trembled and retracted slowly.

The hooded person stepped forward and kneeled on the ground. Some obscure and normally incomprehensible world leaved his mouth.

Nameless's eyes froze for a moment. He noticed that he understood this language. It was the same from the inscription on the Shurika's palace.

"…I invoke you, with this humble sacrifice of blood, the mightiest of the generals of the God Emperor. I ask for your descent in this lowly and dirty world. I, your humble and useless servant, need for your help. Oh, great Malahazar of the Scarlet Radiance, I plea you to answer my call!"

The next moment many small red drops emerged from the corpses lying around the obelisk.

Nameless's pupils constricted. 'Blood!'

The drops increased in number and condensed into many red streams converging in the singe point in the air. Slowly a humanoid figure was formed. The flow of blood stopped then on the ground remained only dried corpses.

It was a tall and muscular creature. His face radiating the air of arrogance and nobility. The main difference with a normal human being was a pair of huge horns which emerged from his thick hair and gave off the same vibe as a crown on the king's head.

Nameless had to admit one point. 'He is…handsome.'

His body was formed by condensed blood of nearly two hundred people, so he was completely scarlet. He was clad in half-transparent armor. After looking carefully Nameless noticed many small screaming faces appeared and disappearing on its surface. The faces were of the people that just died.

'Are these their souls?' Suddenly Nameless had this macabre idea and the more he observed, the more convinced he became.

The creature's eyes, closed until now, opened and suddenly an invisible pressure flooded the whole area.

He had four intersecting pupils in both eyes.

The one named Malahazar observed everything around him but Nameless noticed that once his gaze passed on Captain and others he didn't even focused or stopped his gaze.

'He can't see us!' – Immediately thought the boy.

Meanwhile the creature looked and the hooded person still kneeling.

"What do you need from me? You sacrificed so many people to ask me something! Do it. I don't have time."

The voice was a little strange but Nameless understood very quickly what the problem was. Malahazar, exactly like Kleid, didn't used his vocal cords to speak, but created his voice with other means.

Captain sheathed his sword and others also activated their weapons and powers.

He signaled to Nameless to also be ready. – "As our new crew member, you must participate in this kind of activities." – Smirked Doctor.

Nameless stopped for a moment. Then a huge grin appeared on his face.

'Official crew member!'

He was overjoyed but also relieved since he was somehow expecting this outcome. After a moment of happiness, he also activated his flames. 'Let's see if it can burn him.'

Meanwhile the hooded man answered. – "I ask the help of your Majesty only for one thing!" – He stood up. – "I need you…" – Another rune appeared before him. – "…to be sacrificed for the glory of the Broken Ocean and the Deep! Lowlife Godly Spirit!" – He stomped on the rune and suddenly many black chains emerged from the ground shot towards startled Malahazar.

After being taken aback for a second his face showed an immense fury. – "HOW DARE YOU! INSECTS! BASTARDS FROM THE BROKEN OCEAN!!!"

He dodged easily the first chain but a person in black appeared in front of him and slashed with his sword.

It was impossible to dodge so he answered by summoning a long sword and stabbed forward. John stopped his assault and had to parry the incoming thrust, but he attained his goal.

The chain attached itself to his left arm of the Godly Spirit.

He slowed.

"[Godly Power Descent]"

Suddenly his presence became more imposing and he became strongly. – "You will die!"

*BRUUUUM*

Hundreds pink-colored lightnings hit him at the same moment. James was floating in the air surrounded by crackling thunder and sea of colored lightning bolts.

Many other abilities rained on Malahazar. He was frozen, punched, stabbed, burned, corroded. Nameless also tried to burn him and for a moment he managed to do so. A second was enough to unlock something new to his flame. '[Self I]? I wonder how it's used…'

"ROOOOOOARRRR!"

Everyone was pushed back. Malahazar condition was still very good but already two chains were blocking him.

"I can escape whenever I want, insects."

Captain smiled. – "No, you can't with these toys attached to you." – He pointed towards the chains.

Malahazar frowned and closed his eyes. After a second, he reopened them. There was shock written on his face. – "…God Sealing Chains!"

Captain raised his hand in the air. – "Let's just finish this."

A giant phantom of a ship appeared above his head.

Malahazar frowned before seeing the flag. His face was immediately covered a web of dark lines.

"Ocean Lord John Samael Blake."

"Oh, you know me. That is good. It's a pity that you can't communicate with your main body and tell him what happened."

"[FIRE]"

Many shining dots appeared on the both sides of the ship.

*BOOOM*

Tens of massive energy rays were shot at the same moment and every single one of them landed on the Malahazar's body.

The rest of the chains also pounced on him at the same moment.

The horned creature silently closed its eyes and was hit by the barrage.

After the dust subsided Nameless saw a large, one meter in diameter, scarlet sphere covered by chains.

Captain waved his hand and the ship above disappeared.

He went towards the calmly floating ball of blood and touched.

There was no reaction and he closed his eyes for a moment. Immediately many waves appeared on the spheres surface and finally a face identical to Malahazar's emerged on it.

It didn't tell anything and only looked at john with gaze full of hatred.

Captain retracted his arm and smiled. – "Our mission for the church is done. We can return back!"

[…]

The return back was very quick since the portal made them return directly on the first island. Nameless felt strangely relieved after seeing the thick jungle of the First Star Island.

They quickly advanced and before midday they were already coming down on the long staircase which led towards the beach.

Once there, Captain made the Sorrow of the Black See appear and with some boats they returned to the ship.

It wasn't a long travel, two weeks or so, but for the nameless boy everything changed and he felt as if many years have already passed from the day he went aboard with other two hundred people until today then he returned to the ship as an official crew member under one of the Ocean Lords.

It was like a dream, but he also had many doubts in his heart.

But for now, as he was drawing closer to the huge ship, the set aside his doubts and just enjoyed the start of his new life.
