Oh! My Empress

Chapter 3 - She Transmigrated

A worried sweet gibberish filled the ears of the girl who was lying on the bed. Her head hurt badly and she was unable to open her eyes even if she really wanted to. She was drinking alcohol last night, she should have had water before sleeping.

Was it her roommate that had come in? The bill for alcohol must be high, Kim Su Won felt another headache coming up. She mentally tried to calculate but did not remember how many bottles she had chugged down last night. How was she even alive? Damn, why did her first experience with alcohol have to be like this?

'Ugh! I will see to it when my roommate tells me how much I owe her now.'

"Young miss?" Kim Su Won suddenly heard. She tossed on the other side in the bed, she did not feel like getting up. Her body was aching too.

Wait a minute? Miss? That too archaic tongue? Was there some cosplay event going on? And how was the bed so soft? Was there an overhaul in her room overnight? Did the owners of the paying guest finally come to their senses and decide to upgrade their services? Or was she still under the influence of the alcohol? But they would not change the beds while she was in her room, that would be breach of privacy.

It must be a dream, right? Perhaps, she was dreaming of the web novel she was reading last night. It was called 'The Villainess Seizes The Opportunity'.

She really loved the protagonist of the story. A lady from the modern era in her early thirties transmigrated to imaginary Kingdom of Krislabet. The transmigrator was an intelligent and efficient person and could handle work of three people at a time. By working in corporates, she had acquired keen business acumen.

The woman had died of overwork in her original world, unable to get time for herself and her hobbies. When she transmigrated to this sixteen year old girl called Emmeline Whittemore's body, she decided to put that knowledge to use and seize the chance to fame.

Emmeline Whittemore was the seventh miss of the famous ducal house of Whittemores in the Kingdom of Krislabet. They also served as one of the three families that balanced the power in the kingdom. Whittemores worked for the imperial Chadbourne family and the kingdom of Krislabet itself had a long rich history.

The novel served to remind the readers that one could achieve anything they put their mind and heart to. The female protagonist, originally was a diligent lady but having transmigrated to a wealthy family opened so many avenues for her that she aced everything in life. For Kim Su Won, the lesson was more like luck needed to be on one's side to make something out of themselves. Would the female protagonist be the same if she had ended up in some peasant or farmer family? Hah! The author needed a reality check for sure!

Current chapter was almost at the end of the novel where the protagonist had started yet another business in jewelry. Her very fundamental designs were praised and evaluated too highly in the Kingdom of Krislabet and she was slowly gaining popularity as a designer as well. Of course, author had made the Kingdom of Krislabet a prosper yet backward place. They did not have great food, and from what she had read, they did not have teas or coffees, only alcohols.

The protagonist's new business was in addition to multiple 'cafes' or tea houses she had started using the knowledge from the real world. She was about to reveal her identity as a transmigrator to her husband, the third prince of the country.

Ah! Kim Su Won wanted to get up and read the end! What was the reaction of her husband who had pursued her for whole five years before the transmigrated Emmeline Whittemore had agreed to marry him? She could not wait! She had to snap out of this dream.

"Su Min ah! Can you pinch me a bit?" Kim Su Won mumbled in her sleep, thinking the one speaking beside her was her roommate. It was a Saturday today so both her and her roommate Su Min were off. Su Min had a habit of talking to her boyfriend day and night, and so, Kim Su Won had to usually get up early as well, because of all the noise.

"P-Pinch you? Miss, t-that's…," the hesitant voice quivered with fear.

"Jeez, can you stop with this miss act? Am I still in my dream? When did the lines of reality and imagination blur like this?" Kim Su Won was really annoyed right now. Her headache was killing her, her heart was still paining and then, all this weird talk. She abruptly opened her eyes. What the hell was going on?

"M-Miss! You are awake!" the sound that was trembling with fear earlier, rejoiced, albeit a bit hesitant still.

"I said…," Kim Su Won was going to yell at her roommate again when she realized she indeed was not in her room. She looked around, the bed she was in was a king sized bed! That too with a pink canopy on the top. The pink sheets and pillow covers were made of pure silk, or so she felt. The wooden bed was decorated with exquisite floral designs painted golden, both on the bed rest and the pillars supporting the canopy.

She, did she really become Emmeline Whittemore? No Way!

Near her bed, a girl, about eighteen to twenty years old was kneeling, her eyes full of tears, ready to fall anytime. She was sitting there, ready to be punished. Her hair was neatly combed back, without even a single hair strand out of place. Even her facial features were pleasant.

Her ancient French maid dress was just so soothing to the eyes against all the pink she had just seen. She was wearing a black dress with a full white apron over it and there was even a garter on her head. She was wearing black flat slippers for easy movement in the house. Kim Su Won stared at her maid for some time. The poor maid trembled a bit more for she thought she had committed some grave sin and some punishment was coming in.

Ah, yeah! Emmeline Whittemore was a little tyrant before the protagonist of the story transmigrated into her body at sixteen years of age. Did she just take place of that transmigrator? But wait, why was she so sure that she had gotten into the novel she was reading rather than some other world itself? She did not know. It was just a feeling.

"Su Min, no wait, you should be Anna, right? Anna, fetch me a mirror?" Kim Su Won instructed the maid, who was just waiting for the next order. She remembered the name of the maid because this maid had been through thick and thin with the protagonist Emmeline Whittemore, despite the miss being a complete asshole with this maid. She had been tempted and tortured but she never gave up on her loyalty towards her miss.

In the novel, the maid died because of some conspiracy in the later days. Kim Su Won had cried whole evening at the tragic death of this side character. She felt her heart ache suddenly, remembering that moment. Anna had been poorly treated in Emmeline's original life too.

"Yes, young miss," she got up from her kneeling position, tumbling a bit. It seemed that she had been sitting in that position for quite a while. Even then, the maid was super fast. She brought the shiny mirror within seconds and respectfully presented it to her miss.

Kim Su Won checked her face in there.. She was a girl who had just crossed the threshold of adulthood now. But she did not look like a sixteen year old? What was going on?
