On The Court

Chapter 2 - Finding Andy

I walk down the street to find my best friend Andy, but I can't find her anywhere. When I ask a guy he has seen her, he tells me there are many chances yes, but in this crowd, impossible to remember. I want to ask her if she has enough money too. Like that, we could make the training camp together. I keep walking all day, but I really can't find her. She's always near the houses districts usually. I know she's fine but I want to tell her about my money absolutely. I keep on asking so many people. Some are nice, some say: "Get off me sloppy trash!" but I'm used to it. I make my way out of the crowd to go see in the residential district. I walk until streets I've never been on but I can't find her anywhere. I try to convince myself that I'll see her tomorrow, but in town, everything happens. And not just once. For example, my old friend Samantha already saw someone getting stabbed by someone with a dead squirrel in his hand. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the first time it happened. It's almost night and I spent to much time looking for Andy to hope having a bench to sleep on. I'll stay on the ground.

I wake up a little further on the left than where I slept. I have my money in my pocket. I'm ready to go outside. I go at a fast food near the metro that sells coffee. The first step of my requesting journey. I walk on the big boulevard, cars and rich and selfish people everywhere. I'm still looking for Andy, but nobody seems to have seen her. She looks like everybody, in fact. Black hair, black leather jacket and sunglasses someone gave her. But nobody I interrogate recognized her in the city's flows. I'm starting to get a little suspicious about her being alright. Even if that's stupid, I think something could've happened to her. I start to request, people are surprisingly generous today. It's Friday, as the store next to me says. I always thought the fact that the two-day break was coming made more tired the working people. I don't know why they like it so much. There're many things people do I don't understand. Even if it's the most simple concept, they have to deform it. I'd like to play tennis. Right now. But I can't. I can't because it's 15 degrees outside. I have to find Andy. I don't know where she left, I have a bad feeling about it. We've been separated for longer periods, but I feel like she's not safe. It's probably just me though. I finish counting my money and I have four more dollars than usually.

"Clara! Clara!" I hear a voice approaching.

I turn my head.

"Andy! Where were you these days? I've been looking for you everywhere!" I reprimand her.

"I was in an audition for playing a guitar music in back-instrumental, to evaluate my capacities, guess what?" she asked me.

"Tell me! I can't hold it!" I say.

"He picked me!" she excitedly says as I stare at her, happy.

"I have news too! I have enough money to get in the club you went in last year!" I announce before her face brightens up. It's rare to see Andy's happy faces. She might be a nice person, she sometimes is a little dark in her thoughts.

"CT! That's so great! I'm so happy for you!" CT is my surname. She gave it to me. I love it. We hug and sit down on the blanket I use in the metro, outside, inside, everywhere, if you prefer.

We finish our day with smiles. We both might have a chance to get off the street and start a career. We even made more money than the usual, today. Good work we did. As every night, we go in the metro and sleep there. Luckily, we have the privilege of a bench to have a good sleepy night.
