On The Court

Chapter 4 - Intriguing Man

I woke up, like yesterday, and Andy was not there. I ran to the door and saw her requesting already. She was talking with the old man we saw yesterday. I knew I would see that man again. I run outside to talk to him, and when I do so, I can't make the doors turn. It's stuck. I push harder when I see a wood piece blocking it, so I knock on the window besides Andy as the man is going away. She gets the wood piece of, I turn the doors and when I come out, it's already too late.

"Andy? What was that in the door." I ask.

"I don't know, someone just put it there. Why are you so breathless?" she asks.

"Next time you see this guy, I want to meet him. I'm telling you I already saw him somewhere." I tell her before taking my coffee cup, as usual. The routine begins.

Andy and I have enough money for the two next meals. We stopped requesting, now we're in the residential district. Not the one with the tennis courts, but near. Andy and I talked all day, so we have nothing to say except that it's been three good days in a row. There are lots of trees in the neighborhood. Here, the houses most be worth millions. Which means we won't make any money. As I'm thinking about going back to find a restaurant, Andy doesn't seem to care that she haven't even ate yet. I tell her I'll go to a restaurant and take food to go. I go in the same healthy restaurant, the one Andy likes, and order the same thing for us two. I told her I'd wait for her at the metro station. My food is ready. I pay and go back at the meeting point outside. I see the metro station from where I am. I go there, sit down and wait. After five minutes, Andy's back and we eat. I realize now that I was really hungry, that was probably the cause of my tiredness while we were walking.

"I thought I wasn't hungry, but it's good to eat." she says, synchronizing with my thoughts.

"Me too, I think that's why I was tired lately." I answer.

She makes a head sign, saying 'That's possible', as I interpret it. We just eat in silence. The night is coming, we go in the metro early to be sure to have a good bench. We have the one near the offices that is normally the first one used. It's too early for the both of us to sleep, but we sit and talk. My night is full of dreams. One in which Andy doesn't wear her sunglasses. It's so weird to see her face like that. Now she even sleeps with those. I make another dream in which the old man talks with Andy about something I can't hear. All I can hear is some bad things.

"She's never going to have a career in tennis, she's so bad." he says.

"I know, I beat her all the time!" Andy answers desperately.

I wake up with short breath. I cough a little for a second and stand up. I go see the clock. Two in the morning. I go back to our spot and discover Andy still asleep. It's been a hard night. When it's time to wake up, I think about my possibility of starting a career. The training camp would start in less then two months. I think I am on the right track by starting my professional career in that club. I go in the street before Andy today. She needs to get rest a little bit. I already have much money before she arrives. I go buy a coffee for her and I as she did the last three days. When I come back I sit and wait for her to come. It won't be long.
