One Piece Bounty Wars

Chapter 9 - Forces at Play

Getting out of bed, Jack had a nice long hot shower then went downstairs to breakfast. Walking into the dining room, he went to an empty table and started browsing through the menu. He ordered one of everything that they had to offer, making the waiter sweat a little. "U-um sir? You can order whatever you wish, but only what you eat here will be free. Anything you wish to take with you, will be an extra." The waiter said nervously. "That won't be a problem." Jack said, pulling out a stack of berries. Anything I don't eat, I will be more than happy to pay for." Jack said with a friendly smile, while internally he was laughing menically. 'I could bankrupt them!!' He thought. In the end Jack ate everything that was brought out to him. He wasn't sure why, but his food intake had increased exponetially since coming to this world. He guessed it had something to do with keeping up with his ever growing strength or something, but wasn't positive.

After eating breakfast, Jack left to go and do some shopping around the town, but not before leaving a generous tip, much to the waiters relief. Jack wandered around until he came to a weapon shop. Going inside he looked around and saw walls covered in fancy looking swords, display cases filled with guns, spears on racks, and many other kinds of weapons. When the shop owner saw Jack, he didn't start sweating or get nervous like everyone else Jack had encountered. He welcomed him with a big smile before saying, "Hello there, and welcome to Striker's Emporium!! The names Striker. Can I help you find anything today?" Striker asked, his big smile never leaving his face. Jack was elated. 'Finally someone thats not scared of me!!!' Jack thought excitedly. "Hey there Striker, my name is Cataclysm. I am here looking for a better sword and pistol than what I got here." Jack said pulling out his weapons and putting them on the counter in front of the man. Striker looked over the sword first. He picked it up and eyed it carefully. After close examination he put it down, then picked up the pistol. Again he examined it carefully, c.o.c.king the hammer back, loading and unloading it, then put it back on the counter as well. "I must say, they ain't the best models, and they ain't made with best materials either, but they are superbly crafted. If ur looking to trade them in, I can give ya a decent discount on anything ya might find to ur likin?" Striker said once he was done with his examination. "Can you show me anything better? I'd prefer a pistol that could shoot more than once, and more powerful if thats possible. As for the sword, I'd like a one handed long sword. And before I trade them in, I'd like to know how much of a discount." Jack said politely to Striker.

Striker walked around and grabbed 6 swords that met Jack's requirements, then a number of pistols. Striker layed them out on the counter so Jack could get a better view of them. Looking at the swords, Jack's eyes immediately locked onto one sword in particular. It was a beautiful katana. Ever since he had watched the anime he had aquired a sort of obsession with the swords. Picking up the long blade, Jack felt it's weight, which was fairly decent. With his increased strength it wasn't a problem at all, and it definately had the reach that he wanted. As he was looking at it a thought occured. 'I wonder...' Opening up the shop he tried to sell it.

One of the 50 Skillful Grade swords: Sell Price $800,000 berries Yes/No

When Jack saw that it was one of the 50 skillful blades he knew he had to have it. Looking at the shop again he found the sword in the purchase section. To buy the sword would cost $4,400,000 berries, which was a quite the mark up for one of the 50 graded blades. (A.N. I'm not all that familiar with the names of the swords, so this is probably the best you're gonna get) Jack turned his attention back to striker and asked, "How much for this one?" Striker looked at the sword before saying, "You got a good eye on ya. That there be one of the 50 graded swords. Came across it from a man who decided to give up fighting, and sold it to me for dirt cheap. The value of the sword is worth no less than $1,600,000 berries, but I seen what ya did yesterday. None of us here are true fighters, so's we can't really compete with someone thats got a Devil Fruit power. But you... you did. I'll give it to you for $1,000,000 berries even." Striker said with that warm smile still on his face. "You got a deal." Jack said, then put the sword to the side. The pistol selection wasn't as good as the swords, but he did manage to find a long barreled pistol that could shoot 4 times before it needed to be reloaded. With the longer barrel it could shoot a bit further than his previous one. The sword and pistol came to $1,050,000 berries added together with his discount from selling his previous sword and pistol. Selling his sword and pistol together had got him, a discount of $70,000 berries, which wasn't as much as he paid for them, but trying to sell them back to the shop only gave about half that price.

Walking down the street with his knew weapons strapped on, he went to some food venders and stocked up. The food shops here were definately cheaper than his own store. He also realized that he could buy ingrediants for meals for cheap, get some food made, and they did sell for more in the system, but the increase was so minimal that it really wasn't worth doing. After going to a few more stores and getting stocked up, he went back to the hotel. Entering the room, he saw the same desk clerk from last night sitting in his same spot. When the clerk saw who it was that came through the door, his shoulders visibly tensed, but at least this time he didn't stutter with his words. "Hello Sir. Last night you mentioned going to the barber, are you still interested in going?" Jack had completely forgotten about the barber this morning. Now that he was reminded about it, he did want to get his long hair trimmed down. Nodding to the clerk, Jack was escorted to a different room that also opened out onto the street. It didn't take long before a pile of hair was on the floor, and his head felt like it had lost 5 pounds easy. Jack looked at himself in the mirror, and he didn't look half bad. Paying the barber, Jack left back to his room to have a shower to get cleaned up, then went down to the lounge.

Jack hadn't realized how fast the day had ended. With all the stores he went to, and the barbershop, he had used up most of the day. Going over to the bar, Jack sat down and ordered a beer. Cutting his hair had changed his appearnce drastically, but after he walked to the bar and ordered his beer, everyone recognized him almost instantly by the way he spoke. Not wanting to make him wait, the bartender quickly put an ice cold beer in front of him. Jack wasn't in any hurry to drink tonight, so he just sipped his drink while looking around. As he looked around his eyes locked onto a beautiful young lady that was staring right at him. As soon as she noticed him staring back at her, she got up from her seat and approached the bar, taking the seat right next to his. She started talking to him, just making small talk, then she started touching him, getting closer and closer until she was sitting in his l.a.p. She kept ordering more drinks for him, like she was trying to make him pass out from too much alcohol, which didn't go unnoticed by Jack. Without letting her or anyone else notice, he started to put the alcohol into his inventory as soon as it touched his lips. He started to act like he was more drunk than he was, swaying back and forth, letting his eyes lower down like he was having trouble keeping awake. Finally the woman, who now that he thought about it hadn't given her name, got up and pulled him towards the door, and led him back to his room.

When they got into his room, Jack had his Obervation Haki spread all around him to the max. Outside the building he could clearly see marine soldiers hiding in alleys, or on some roof tops not too far away from the hotel. He also noticed some Marine sh.i.p.s at the docks that weren't there before. 'I guess I'm a threat to the World Government.' Jack thought to himself. Walking over to the bed the woman gave him a little push. Jack started to fall to the bed, but grabbed her hand as he was falling, bringing her right on top of him. She tried to get to her feet, but Jack held her firmly not letting her go. "Don't be so rough!" She said a little bit angrily. "Oh come now, the nights just getting started." Jack said right after he flipped her over so she was beneath him, her arms pinned to the bed. Jack had given up his drunken act, and if looks could kill, she would definately be dead right now. "You are going to tell me whats going on right now or I'm gonna rip you apart, piece by piece!!" He said murderously.

At the mysterious mans words, she paled. She was just a lowly warrant officer. She was promised a promotion if she got some guy that went by the name Cataclysm, drunk. Everything was going perfectly, yet somehow he had seen right through it all, and he wasn't even drunk. Tears started to form in the corners of her eyes, and her heart started racing. She wanted to scream, but as soon as she opened her mouth Jack shoved a corner of the blanket in her mouth. "I don't particularly need you to be the one to tell me what going on." Were the only words Jack spoke before punching her in the head, knocking her unconcious instantly. Jack jumped out of bed, then crept outside without anyone noticing him. Jack went around to all of the marines that were hiding, killing them all without anyone ever realizing he'd been there, then stored their lifeless corpses into his inventory. The only sign that someone had died here were a few puddles of blood, but they wouldn't be noticed in the darkness. Now there was just one group left on the roof of a building not too far away from him. Jacked slowly crept up the oposite side of the building, and tiptoed closer to them. Without any warning, Jack swung his sword twice in quick succession, decapitating two of the three men. The third man didn't even register that his two comrades were dead before a had reached around and covered his mouth, while at the same time he felt a blade being pressed against his throat.

"If you try to make a single sound without my approval, I'm going to cut your God damned head off. Nod slowly if you agree." Jack said, his voice filled with hate and malice. The marine, realizing his position, nodded slowly. Jack removed his hand, the quickly pulled the weapons off the marine, throwing them onto the bodies of the two dead marines. The marine quietly waited, praying that he might be able to get out of this with his life. "Why are you all after me?" Jack spoke angrily to the man. " I-I don't know. We were all gathered this morning after the Captain from head quarters arrived here. All they told us was that there was an extremely dangerous individual who we needed to apprehend at all costs." The marine said a bit shakily. "Do they have any pictures of me?" Jack asked. "We have one of you when you came to the compound to collect your bounty, but thats it." The marine said. This continued on for a bit longer, Jack asking questions like, how many marines there were, who were the most dangerous, and what the man knew of their abilities. Surprisingly the man was very informative about his fellow marines, and even knew a few things about the Captain. Apparently he was renowned for his genius at being able to master two of the 6 Rokushiki technigues in under 5 years. 'Maybe he has the manual with him!!' Jack thought excitedly.

Getting all the information that he could, Jack slit his throat, then stored all of the bodies inside his inventory. After he was done he used his Haki to check the surrounding area's just to make sure he got them all, then went to the docks. He would start there then go back to the compound. "You are going to regret ever trying to cross me." He mummbled under his breath as he finally reached the docks.
