One Piece - The First Mate

Jason woke up to the sound of waves and seagulls, He looked around to find the boat he was in landed on an abandoned shore.

He then remembered what has happened yesterday. His eyes started tearing while he was aimlessly staring into the sky. He lost his mother but her last words are still ringing in his ears.

He slowly made his way into the Jungle by the beach hugging his bag and after a while he found a small opening in a tree where he can rest.

He started thinking about his mother and all that she had done for his sake. He often asked his mother why they were on the small deserted island but she always stayed quiet and said he would understand in future.

He finally started looking into the bag and found a letter along with two small books. He shakily opened the letter and started reading it.

"My Dear Jason,

If you are reading this letter, It would mean I no longer among the living.

I don't want you to be sad about this as it was something meant to happen.

6 Months before you were born, I was seriously injured where I lost a lot of my life force and would not have lived long. It was during those darkest nights gods have blessed me with you. I want to say sorry for leaving you like this but I should have prepared you to face the world by now.

I have left two books which can help make you stronger, I believe by the time you read this you are at least 7 years old as I only have till then. The Island we are on is a mysterious island which will be hidden from the world so you can train here without worries and can go out afterwards.

There are somethings you need to know about me, I am a very important person for someone high up the World Government. The World Government and by extension the Marines have a very twisted sense of 'Absolute Justice'. It was something I did not agree on and was quiet vocal about. Regardless of my position, they along with my family has turned against me. I don't want to colour your views with my bias but I want you to stay vary of these organizations in future. They do not look favourable about you being born and most of them along with my family consider it absolute disgrace. I was also attacked due to the similar reasons but I don't want you to seek revenge for me and promise me you will absolutely not do that.

I want you to know that having given birth to you is my greatest achievement in life and I don't want you to waste your life on a silly ambition like revenge for me. I am telling you these things so you will be vary of these groups, especially my family if they come to you.

I know your dream is to travel the world and learn all about it. It is something we have in common after all. To accomplish your dream is very hard in this world and for it you would need great strength to protect yourself. So heed my advice and don't go out until you are strong enough.

Make great friends for yourself in your travels as alone a person can only do so much. I know you have enough Intelligence and Wisdom to make right decisions. Remember knowledge is power, train diligently using the books I have left you, eat right and always be mindful of your manners. No matter what path you choose always remember I fully support you, Even if the whole world calls you a monster. Find a nice girl in future and make a lot of cute grandbabies for me.

Have a nice and cheerful life. Explore the world and don't ever give up on your dreams.

Jason was feeling multitude of emotions after reading the letter. He just sat their thinking about what to do now. His mother was injured before he was born and had to hide them. It seems like suddenly being found by those so called Elder Stars or World Government was not in the plan.

The first thought was rage, pure rage begging for revenge against everyone who wronged his mother. He would like nothing more than burning this World Government and her family to the ground. But he also thought if his mother would be proud of it. He decided that if they come seeking him out, he will have his revenge but he will not go actively looking from them as his mother would not want that.

Jason also took into heart what his mother was trying to convey in this letter and along with her last words decided that he will train hard and become strong enough to travel the world.

He would not care about what people say and live life to the fullest.

After resolving his mind, Jason looked at both the books his mother left him. One Book contains basic combat techniques along with a lot of exercises to make his body strong. The other book has information on something called Haki and its three forms.

Both the books seem to only have basics but Jason quickly memorized them and burnt them.

He did not look for civilization right away but started training there. He used fruits and vegetables available in forest to sustain himself and trained hard starting from sunrise till sunset.

He woke up with the sun and as put in the books started running along the beach as much as he can. Then he did some basic body exercises like push ups, sit ups and crunches while taking breaks.

At first, doing these exercises were really painful on his young four year old body but he would miraculously be alright after sleeping it off. He thought of it as normal and continued pushing his limits.

He ends the day with meditation and a breathing exercise as in the book and go to sleep relaxed. In the initial month he would often miss his mother and have nightmares but they slowly lessened due to mostly going to sleep exhausted.

He was not able to relax or not have a nightmare for these times but he was coping with them while pushing his limits through vengeance.

After six months of training like this, he decided to move inside the forest so he can hunt for meat and also train his newly acquired combat skills.

While travelling through the forest, he came across many animals, but he was also able to notice something. He could sometimes feel the presence of different animals if he really concentrates on them. These presences are also coloured like white for harmless animals and red for animals which can attack and eat him.

He was initially exited that it may be due to haki power he read, but he was not always able to sense them or even consciously do it.

He started hunting small animals like rabbits, mice, snakes, frogs in the forest to eat while he trained. Like this another six months have passed for Jason who was slowly exploring the forest while training.

One night, while he was resting, he heard a disturbance and yells from the forest. Curious, Jason has cautiously made his way towards the voice to find someone caught in one of the traps he put for rabbits.

Caught in the trap was a small boy jason's age with messy raven black hair and black eyes wearing white shirt with blue shorts. He was yelling and trying to get out of all the vines he caught on to.
