Overlord: Blue Citadel Alternate

Chapter 12 - 「Unknowable」

After settling into a room at the Inn, Jack stood a few feet from the bed with his arms crossed. His eyes resting on Ninya who was seated on the side of it. She had taken off her mantle and tunic, leaving her in a black long sleeved shirt with a scarf and black pants. Her boots were under the chair, like before.

She was guilty. She let her fleeting emotional state and whatever someone had promised her get to her head. Or perhaps she had been charmed into using it. In the moment before he arrived, when she still had her faculties, someone had handed her an item. Hid it in her mantle for her to use. If she used it, everything would reset. Except for the 'player' as they put it, should they be within range of the item.

To die with her friends who lived and trusted one another, was something she wanted, selfishly. However at the same time, a man whom she had known for but a day had taken all of her firsts, saved her twice and resurrected her friends at least once.

He told her she had a choice, even after she told him her life was in his hands. So, when push came to shove, she was ready to jump. She was ready to end everything, end it like it should have ended.

He refused. The request to die, even with her friends, was given to the empty.

The World Item she had been given was a single-use one, and it could only go back as far as a day, or forty eight hours. It was unlikely that there was another one like it in this world, both Jack and Ninya were sure of that.

"So who gave it to you?" Jack asked with a calm voice, cold eyes that hid its true warmth just for the answer which he was waiting for.

Ninya looked up from the wooden floor panels and up to the young man who's gaze was piercing.

"He didn't tell me his name," Ninya uttered as she looked through him. "He didn't have to."

The way she spoke of the person, was of admiration. As if she had great respect and even may as well like the person who had given her the item.

Pursing his lips at this he didn't really know how to take this. It wasn't jealousy, but it was someone she had known about who had given her the item. At the same time, this person had either left her for dead, or knew he was coming to the rescue. That and the beastmen didn't attack them? Or just didn't see them…

There were various thoughts going through his head. For instance, he even breathed life into the possibility that Momonga could be behind this, but shook his head at the thought. Momon handing her a magical item like that would be weird, even though he was close to the scene.

On top of that, he could tell the item's function didn't align entirely with YGGDRASIL, unless it was originally an item that rolled back one's status by a certain amount of time? Maybe coming to this world changed it somehow?

"Then who is he?"

"Platinum," Ninya stared up at him as she said this name. It belonged to the Platninum Dragon Lord's armor. "A member of the Thirteen Heroes… He said if I used that clock, I could turn back time. Change my fate, the fate of my friends. I held onto it until you came to save me..."

He glared down at her, but his eyes softened quickly. He understood how she felt, considering when his own sister had died he felt too weak to keep going. Of course that was natural, they were only human and humans act on their emotions or they fail to act completely.

Ninya shrunk back a bit as she sat there on the bed. She felt completely and utterly small, which she generally was compared to him and the men in her group.

"...He said that 'players' are a corrupting influence on this world, that if I stayed beside you.. I only be helping the bring the world to an End."

A frown rested on his lips as he'd glance away from her as she used the word players. Someone had indeed talked to her, and it hadn't been him.

"Considering they're worshipped as Gods. That they introduced tier magic and even went as far as to share their items with the world..." He found himself looking down at the floor with his hands clasped together in thought. "He's not wrong," his eyes then drifted back up to her, on the side of the bed. "Yet he made a bad choice. Out of everyone, I could have been his ally."

Ninya blinked several times when he spoke of being the Platinum Dragon Lord's possible ally if this hadn't occurred. Her lips parted and she hugged herself.

Jack was well aware he was practically defeated by Shalltear. Jack himself could have defeated the level 100 NPC due to his prowess as a Top-Class PVPer, he was stronger.

"You want to protect your friends," Jack stated as his head tilted to the side slightly. "You want to be powerful enough to save your sister. I will give you these things and give you the means to an end." Opening his item box, he pulled out the vials derived from the third, fourth and eleventh seat members of the scriptures. Placing them on the nightstand. "However, the end is no longer up to you."

Ninya closed her eyes as he informed her that she has forfeit her right to choose. When she opened her eyes again, he was standing before her with the third seat's vial.

Popping the cork, he placed it in her hands.

Looking up to Jack as he stood a mere foot away from her, she leaned her head back, keeping those eyes of hers on him as she brought the vial to her lips.

The moment the liquid flowed into her mouth, she could feel the texture as it was something akin to sap with a taste of mint and trace of copper. She couldn't tell what she was drinking, but the moment she swallowed each gulp, her vision became erratic and blurry. She felt exceptionally high, her senses were about a thousand times amplified. She could hear his heart beating over hers. She blinked, tried to clear her sight, but she was easily seeing seven, maybe twelve, of Jack. "Wha… What is..." Her head rolled side to side as she finished drinking from the glass, she felt warm inside.

Leaning forward and placing the bottle on the ground, she almost fell off the bed if it wasn't for Jack who caught her and sat her back up. Taking the bottle from her and putting it into his inventory.

He then proceeded to call upon the fourth seat and hand that one to her.

Ninya stared up at him as her eyes began to dilate unevenly. "Wha... ish... dish...?" Her mouth felt funny, she felt like she just wanted to lay down now.

She jumped slightly when he popped the cork loudly this time. Or was it just because her senses were amplified temporarily that she thought it was loud?

She stared down at the red goop and gulped hard before swigging it down, all of it.

"I'll tell you in the morning," Jack said as he gave her a light shove in the shoulder. The moment her head hit the mattress she was out cold. He'd take off her pants, but leave her shirt on, before tucking her into the blankets of the bed.

Turning and looking over the eleventh vial which was still on the nightstand, he uncorked it and downed it out right. As the same thing occurred with him, he closed his eyes and stood in place.

The half-elf was a national secret, a powerful one at that. It was unlikely she had used her full power with him. Though she had sent him flying quite a few times during their fight.

She was probably too over confident… Right?

Using the Thousand leagues Astrologer's surveillance techniques, he conjured up a screen of magic energy, revealing Zesshi walking through a grass plain. Heading directly for the City of E-Rantel that was visible off in the distance.

"… What the hell?" Jack raised a brow slightly, "Why is she outside of the Theocracy?" Shifting the view, behind her were multiple members of soldiers rushing after her. Panning out slightly, he could see there were several dead soldiers behind those that had been moving in haste to catch her.

"Hm..." When he refocused the Technique onto the half-elf girl, he paused seeing her eyes looking directly at 'him' as if she could sense the surveillance.

Her lips were moving and she was bringing about martial skills. Increasing strength, dexterity, endurance, agility and even her stamina. The closer she got to E-Rantel, the faster she got and stronger.

That's when she suddenly kicked off the ground and became airborne. Jack's lips parted, his eyes locked onto her cross shaped scythe. For the first time he noticed that her body was now glowing smokily, a faint purple. Similar to his eyes. As she raised the weapon, she was ready to bring it down and he could sense the power behind her attack-to-be.

「Greater Teleporation」He would cast, vanishing from the room and resurfacing in the air. His staff in hand, he was directly in front of her. As she went to bring down the weapon, a shockwave of air would burst from between them as he countered.

The Grass panicked, screamed in the wind. Trees g.r.o.a.n.e.d and ached. Chunks of small hills and loose dirt rose into the air. The soldiers were blown back by the force alone, sending them tumbling to the ground, some of them even breaking their necks on the way down.

They could see two purple dots in sky. One familiar to the Captain and the other bright and yet unfamiliar. He could tell at least one of them was the Exrta-Seat of the Black Scripture, but he very well knew that the Theocracy wouldn't release her against a foe like this as long as the Platinum Dragon Lord still stands against them and their agendas.

"What are you doing here!?" Staff locked with War Scythe, Jack inquired with a frown.

"Ahahahaha! You have to ask?" Zesshi licked her lips as she could hardly budge her weapon against him. It was just like when they were fighting before, yet she knew she was now using more of her own strength. If she had made contact with E-Rantel, she was sure to rip through its exterior walls and create massive casualties. So why, why couldn't she take him down!?

"How in the world do you remember…?" Jack could only assume that she was within range of the item. Yet he didn't seem to recall seeing her. Then again, he was paying more attention to Ninya as she took out the item. Could she have been directly beneath them or was she jumping like this?

The elf just grinned at him, pushing harder, but they remained in the sky.

"So how did you do it?" She'd beam with a wide smile across her face to the point that her dimples looked like they were aching themselves.

Jack laughed quietly, "It wasn't me. It was the Platinum Dragon," he'd speak in a curse before drawing an identical cross shaped war scythe to her own, from his item box.

Her eyes darted to the weapon in his hand and widened. An exact duplicate? Her eyes traveled back to him with her mouth parted open.

"「Greater Cutting Edge」「Focus Battle Aura」「Gate Acceleration」「Greater Agility Boost」「Impenetrable Fortress」!" The girl was using her martial arts skills, trying to gain an advantage. Yet still, she was unable to move against him.

So as he swung with one arm, the loud clap of air sounded throughout the city and the surrounding area. The Extra-Seat of the Black Scripture was sent flying like a baseball at a steep diagonal angle and a downward spiral.

When she hit the ground, dirt and dust greeted the air like it was an old friend. She laid there on the ground, with a shocked expression still across her face. She turned her head, lifting it slightly from the shape the soil had hugged to her and looked to the one legacy weapon in her hand. Then she looked back up at him as he was closing in on her. The Trump Card of the Theocracy which made her believe it would allow her to destroy her father, and likely the Elf Kingdom.

The only one standing in her way is the very same Dragon Lord who had used a World Item to roll back time in order to change something.

So as he fluttered on down to the ground, resting his feet on the dirt and grassy plains. His eyes rested on her as she spit up blood from the impact's trauma. The Greater Fortress defensive art had kept her safe from harm initially, but after his attack it was the earth beneath them that injured her in the end.

"Do you submit?"

"Will you Marry me?" She was grinning up at him, she could hardly move her legs. Just how powerful was this man? He had defeated her in a single hit as compared to their fight earlier which neither had taken seriously.

"I'll consider it… If you leave the Theocracy?"

This condition that sounded like a question very much made her frown as she let her head drop back into the mold that surrounded her.

"And swear your fealty to me."

However the damage wasn't the case. All of his current equipment was Divine Class and his attributes were several times higher thanks to that. Though he'd still be incredibly strong without them. So in truth, the damage was an illusion to see what she would do next.

"You should've come fully equipped," Jack uttered before glancing away from her towards the approaching Black Scripture.

"What a Pity. You're going to kill them again…?"

Jack chuckled as he looked down at her with his head lulled to the side. "Will you leave the Theocracy?" He asked as she seemed to be unfazed by the question now and what he was meaning by asking it. He was practically saying that if she were to join him, he'd CONSIDER sparing them.

「Aport」As he recited this spell, the Downfall of Castle and Country appeared in his hand, stripped right from Kaire's critically injured body. With that he'd stuff it into his item box.

As the Black Scripture arrived surrounding them, they had their weapons at the ready. The Captain was staring in disbelief in what looked like the Extra-Seat's defeat.

"Zesshi! Can you get up?" The Captain stepped towards her, but Jack took a step closer to her as well. So he didn't move as he kept his eyes on the elf.

Zetsumei sighed in annoyance, "I don't feel like it, I'm currently watching the stars." Her eyes narrowed forward towards the stars above them. Essentially looking right over Jack's head.

The Captain was about to order the Divine Chant to heal her before noticing something strange. Zetsumei was holding the cross shaped war scythe, but also in the hand of Jack was another of the same design. His eyes stared at the item before taking a step back from the situation.

"What is going on here...?"

"Your decision?" Jack asked as he was staring down at her as she looked up at him with her black and white two tone eyes. He would kneel down on one leg in front of her and hold out a hand.

The First Seat of the Black Scripture went to draw back his spear as the unknown man had become closer to the fallen Extra Seat of his Scripture.

Achingly, she raised her hand to meet his and grasped it.

"You've been spared Captain," Jack stated as he looked towards the man who was ready to try and futilely impale him. "You should leave, before I transform you into a woman, permanently."
