Overlord: Blue Citadel Alternate

Chapter 46 - 『Point to Point』

The Villagers and the Swords of Darkness were the first to enter the Portal, followed by Vertum who lead the second group through. The first thing they found was that he was telling the truth, stepping through the portal was an instantaneous form a transportation. To some it would be a gift, a luxury, while others saw it differently.

Ninya and EvilEye were the first ones to be amazed by the spell and its effectiveness.

As they all stood gathered in the Village Center, looking around at the dark walls that had been built nonstop by his subordinates, it appears Carne Village has been fortified and divided.

"That was amazing, Vertum-dono," Ninya walked up beside him smiling. It was clear she was mesmerized by the ability to create a portal with a single word. He didn't even seem winded.

Part of her could only assume it was greater than the fifth tier teleportation spell.

EvilEye on the other hand already had a feeling of who and what he was from this display of power. This creature with a face of a man was not from this world, he was what this world's denizens considered a God, but she knew them as Players. On top of that, she already knew of the existence of Tenth and Eleventh Super Tier Magic.

"How did you start building such a massive project in such little time?" The Princess could barely believe her eyes as she could see figures armed with foreign weapons that were alien to her. Their way of dress seemed all far more complicated than the people of the Kingdom's.

"Almost a fortnight," Vertum claimed as he separated himself and his group rom hers. He then watched as the masked female scanned the area with her hidden eyes.

There was also enough land for them to farm even under siege. As she glanced up to the sky, she was looking just in time for a massive magical shield to begin covering the Village, emitted from the towers along the walls structure. Her jaw nearly dropped at the magic being used here.

"That is impressive..." Princess Renner felt small compared to his claim. She was the people's person, though all for Climb's and her own sake. The fact that he could build a fortification around this place in a remote region, in such a swift amount of time, outdid her quality of life improvements.

She quickly noticed the faint green layer of magic energy blanketing over the village like a dome. The Princess wasn't expecting such a defensive measure.

It literally meant that the Imperial Army's aerial forces couldn't bombard them from above.

Nemu was by her sisters side, smiling as she was looking over the Princess's dress. It was long, pretty and baby blue. Something she could never actually imagine herself wearing a dress like that.

Ninya didn't like nobles, though at the same time, hardly any of the individuals in the Princess's party was a man. They hadn't taken away her beloved older sister. She kept a faint smile across her lips despite the grievances that Kingdom had committed against her.

"So how did you do it?" Laykus suddenly blurted out as her hands were balled up in front of her. She was standing inches away from Vertum, her interest in the Gate spell seemed to be overflowing.

Blinking a few times, his eyes traveled over towards Tia and Tina, both of them looked away.

"Um..." Vertum took a step back, before clearing his throat. "Unless you have the ability to cast magic above seventh tier, then telling you is meaningless."

It seemed it was too far out of her reach as well, though she was sure to be excited knowing such a spell existed. The possibility of creating a lesser version filled her with determination.

"We're going to go check on the fields and see if any of the other villagers need help with anything," The elected leader of the village, Enri, and her sister Nemu informed Vertum.

Nodding to this, he watched as the two of them walked off hand in hand. He then turned his gaze back towards the Princess and her Adventurers. "Lets go to the central residence then," he gestured for them to follow after him.

It wasn't long until the group was situated in the former Village Elder's home. The furnishing had since been replaced with victorian era sofas, lamps and tables. The interior also seemed to have been restructured into a more gothic setting. Darker walls, a new fire place with a decorative mantle. What was quickly noticeable was the number of miniatures having resemblance of the original members of the Blue Citadel being displayed up on the mantle.

The two sofas they were to be situated on were dark red with pale yellow leaf-like patterns. It was as if it was woven with gold, but it was soft to the touch.

The coffee table between them was a dark reddish brown, similar to the hue of hot chocolate.

The Princess, Laykus and Evileye took to one sofa shortly after arriving. They went on watching as Vertum, Peter and Ninya took to the other couch.

Climb, Dyne, Gagaran, Lukrut, Tina and Tia all remained standing on their respective sides. Climb being directly behind the Princess, Dyne behind Ninya and Lukrut behind Peter. Tina and Tia were by the windows, while Gagaran was standing behind Laykus.

Being inside they were beginning to feel rather lax, especially since this wasn't a trap.

"So, what is it you wish to negotiate?" Vertum asked as he crossed his ankle over his knee, folding his hands over his l.a.p. He held an erect and powerful posture, showing he was in control.

Ninya rested back into the sofa, not seeming to show any intimidating towards the other party.

Peter at the same time just remained rather casual as he also leaned back into the sofa, resting his right hand on the arm of the sofa.

With her petite form she also held an erect, but prim and proper, posture. She was able to hide the fear of his power and stance on the upcoming subject from visibility.

The Princess narrowed her eyes on the man who wanted to start this negotiation. He was powerful enough to wipe out a group of trained Theocracy soldiers on his own. Even had the power to be anywhere in an instant. If she angered him, not only would her life be in danger, but so would the entire country... Her eyes moved to her bodyguard, her trusted and closest toy. His life was in danger if she were to mess this up.

She knew that she was sent here because this would be delicate and her brothers were far from useful in this kind of situation. Her oldest brother would likely try to wipe them out, on the other hand Zanac was a wild card. He appeared impotent, but was really competent.

Perhaps he could have done this instead?

Thoughts rushed through her mind.

"Princess?" Climb asked in concern.

"I'm fine, Climb," She smiled as she looked to the boy who she held a twisted love for. One that couldn't be described as normal. Though it was hard to see through the veil she cast over it.

Turning her attention to the Dragon, she went to speak.

"My father... Ramposa the Third, My King..." She spoke softly, but loud enough to be heard sternly. From what she had seen, this man was not cryptic, but straight forward. He showed his power, he intimidated them and even amazed them. "Wishes to bring you into his court."

Raising a brow at the girl's words, it seemed they really did want him on their side. Probably for their annual war. He let out a sigh as he shifted in place.

"And if I say no... What will happen?" Vertum c.o.c.king his head to the side with a grin across his lips. He knew very well that they wouldn't be able to do anything, but did they know?

Parting her lips slightly, she remained to show confidence. "My father is willing to giv--"

"Your father and your Kingdom are in no position give me anything of value, the only ones capable of making proposals such as gifts would be the Theocracy... But I'm sure I already made them angry." The tip of his tongue slithered over his lips as he recalled the destruction of not just one, but two, secret Scriptures... both of which were special operations groups. "Though there is also the Empire..."

Her brow twitched as he spoke of the Theocracy which had many powerful relics from another time. Then there was the Empire which was prospering far greater than that of the Kingdom. She knew if she were to lose this Dragon to them, there would be no gaining his favor.

Ninya's eyes rested on him, curious on what he was planning on getting out of this.

Peter had little interest in politics, though this was interesting to watch, at least for him. As he looked about the room, everyone seemed into what was going on in some capacity.

"You should at least hear her out before you cut her off like that, it's rude." Gagaran, the huge woman who towered over everyone present, spoke for Laykus, having stopped her from talking by placing a hand on her head.

Vertum looked up at the gargantuan human being. "Alright," he uttered as if he was half taken by the woman's words, but just decided to appease them for some laughs. "What will he offer...?"
