Painting Clovers

13 Chapter 12

3 days left. Seriously? Where are the days going? Since when had the hours decided to go on warp speed?

I dreaded getting up today, it felt weird. Like something's wrong, I just can't put my finger on it. Or maybe it's just the fact that I only have three days left. This feels like a death sentence.

With coffees in hand, I made my way to Lena's room. That's where she'd been working lately, she never lets me in so I never saw what exactly she's working on. She just grabs her coffee and locks herself in her room until lunch. But this time is different.

Lena smiled at me widely when she stepped out, closing the door behind her before I got to see anything.

"Hey!" she grabbed her coffee and kissed me on my cheek. With that, all my earlier concerns went down the drain.

"Hey.. So, still painting clovers today?"

"Yes. But first, we are going to have breakfast. I'm starving." She walked through the hallway, tugging me along.

After breakfast, she went back to her room and I met up with Lester to hang out. Today is turning out to be a great day.

It's around 11, Lester and I, and a couple of Lester's new friends were hanging out. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and my heart raced when I saw Lena's name on the screen.

L: "Asher! Guess what?" A huge smile crept in my face as I heard her voice.

A: "What?" I mouthed 'Lena' to Lester and made my way to the empty balcony of the Café.

L: "I'm driving!" The excitement in her voice is infectious.

A: "What?"

L: "I'm driving!"

A: "Why? Where are you going? Wait, you're on your phone while driving?" My brows furrowed. I didn't know Lena knows how to drive, I didn't even know she has a car. But then again, her family owns a freaking hotel, why wouldn't she have a car.

L: "Why? To get to places.. And relax, it's on Bluetooth." I can hear the wind passing through the window in the background.

A: "Okay. Where are you going?"

L: "So remember the awesome cake I told you about?" Of course I did, we were taking a break from painting when she told me about it. It was her and her dad's favorite cake. They tried to buy the recipe so they can serve it in the hotel but the owner didn't want to sell. They used to eat it whenever they were in town.

A: "From that café by that place beside the shop?" I heard her laugh lightly, I used the exact phrase she used when she told me about the café.

L: "Yeah. The one that sells the awesome cookies."

A: "Yeah. I remember. So what about it?"

L: "Well.. I'm driving there."

A: "What? Okay. I'm still here in town, I'm gonna meet you there." I didn't know exactly where it was, but I can find it.

L: "No no no. Meet me in the hotel, I have surprise." Surprise?

A: "What is it?"

L: "Well it wouldn't be a surprise if I told you, now wouldn't it?" I loved the playfulness in her voice.

A: "Alright.. Fine."

L: "Okay. So meet me at the Hotel in an hour. Or two. I'm not sure. Just wait for me, okay?"

'Of course, forever.' I thought. She hang up before I even got to answer.

I went back to our table and Lester looked at me knowingly.

Lena texted me when she got to the café, she was going to hang out for a while. She knows the owner and they haven't seen each other for a while. I love that she I'm still part of her day even though I'm not with her, she keeps me updated on how her day is going.

By 12:30 I'm already at the hotel waiting for her. I hang out in our room, going through the photos I took the whole time we were here. I had hundreds of pictures of Lena, from the first picture I took of her when I saw her in her balcony to the last that I took earlier during breakfast.

My phone ringed and I answered without even looking at who it was.

L: "Asher!"

A: "Lena. Hey, I'm at the hotel."

L: "Yeah, sorry, I lost track of time. I'm just waiting for my cake and cookies then I'm heading there okay?"

A:"Okay. Don't rush, take your time. Don't want you speeding." I heard her laugh, a carefree laugh. She had been doing that a lot lately, and it feels amazing knowing that I had something to do with that."

L: "Yesssir!" I smiled widely at that. I could even picture her saluting when she said that.

A: "So, how was it catching up with the owner?" I closed my laptop and sat up.

L: "Oh Asher it was great! Leanne, she's the owner, had been coming up with new things. She got me to taste like 50 different cakes. They were all great, I'm gonna bring you here sometime. You're going to love it I swear. And I think you'll like Leanne too, and oh my god Asher you should see this place. You could take pictures, and stuff…" I loved it when Lena gets talkative. Most guys hate it when girls babble, but I love it when Lena does it. It feels great that I'm one of the people that Lena likes to tell things about.

A: "That's great. Okay, so maybe we could go back there tomorrow?"

L: "No, I was thinking, before we leave."

A: "Leave?" Is Lena leaving? I mean, I know I only have three days left here and I still haven't figured out what to do next. But, Lena? I never really thought she would leave.

L: "Yeah. Lester told me…" my heart stopped. "And well, Asher?"

A: "Yeah?"

L: "Well. If it's okay, maybe I could go too.."

A: "What?" Am I hearing it right? Lena wants to come with me?

L: "Can I come with you? When you go back home, can I come? I mean, we have a house there so you don't actually have to worry about me or anything. And I was thinking maybe I could finish my studies."

A: "Are you sure?" Of course I would love for her to come. But, her family, Liam, the hotel.

L: "Yes. Absolutely. I know Liam would be happy, I haven't left this place since.. since.. so yeah, I know he would be okay with me going."

A: "Of course. Of course you can come. I'd love that!"

L: "Really?"

A: "Really! This is great!"

L: Okay Asher I got to go, the cakes and cookies are ready. See you later."

Again, Lena hangs up before I even got to answer. I stood up with the widest smile in my face. I don't know exactly know what happened in the past weeks. It all seems so fast, it went by like a blur and yet I can easily see each moment I had with her like it were in slow motion.

Knowing Lena will be coming felt great. It felt like floating, it felt like heaven, and she is my angel. At that moment I realized something. Somehow, I've always known I loved her, but now it's clear. I was still grinning like crazy when Lester came into the room.

"What's with you?" He asked, looking at me questioningly.

"Nothing." I shake my head a few times to clear my head a little.

"Right."

"She's coming back with us." Lester stopped midway on his way to the comfort room and turned to face me. "She said she wants to come home with us."

"And?" He raised his eyebrows.

"Well of course I said yes."

He smiled widely, genuinely. "That's great dude!"

I was about to answer when there was a knock on the door.

"Come on! It's ready!" Lena was smiling brightly.

"What's ready? I asked, stepping aside to let her in.

"Just come on, both of you. Lester too. LESTER!" She screamed into the room, not bothering to come in.

"Hang on! I'm peeing!" Lester shouted from the comfort room.

Lena laughed and leaned on the door frame, waiting.
