Paying The Price

Sarah hooked arms with Leon the entire time drawing attention to themselves and making the guests question their relationship.

The announcement about their engagement was only known to both families but Sarah took this opportunity to plant seeds in everyones heart. When asked about their relationship she would look lovingly at Leon and just smile, this simple act caused people to draw conclusions and it made Leon uncomfortable.

The air in the hall seemed to be stuffy to Leon that he had to excuse himself to get some air.

Nikki who stood close by saw Leon leave after his face reached the point of becoming a rotten food. She was able to appear in the event as she won a draw her company organized for lucky employees to attend this magnificent gathering.

Nikki felt a great force moving her to follow Leon so she excused herself from her colleges then went to check on him.

Leon walked to the huge balcony upstairs in the building. He held the cement rays then took a very deep breath and examined the beauty of the city.

"Are you OK?" Hearing a familiar voice he snapped back to reality.

"Yeah I am." Leon turned his face away from Nikki's gaze.

"You don't look fine." Nikki walked up to Leon, the moonlight shone brightly on her beautiful face making her appear like an angel, coupled with the plain straight silver gown she wore that was a little above her kneel and had an opening at her back. Beholding her astonishing self Leon felt a great pain in his heart.

"If you want to talk about it am hear for you." Nikki said those words in a calm and sweet tone one that Leon had never heard from her, she was usually hard on her words and loud when speaking, so he was completely lost.

Nikki thought that his silence meant he doesn't want to be disturbed, she bit her lips and said "It's ok if you don't want to talk, I should just head back inside."

"No wait!" Leon held her hand, he didn't want her to leave "You know talking is just what I need right now. Its just that I don't know where to start."

Nikki raised her brow "How about you start from why you're not being a man and tell Sarah off? I mean come on. You don't look that vulnerable, why are you letting her control you?"

That was actually something Leon wanted to talk badly with someone, he just wanted to pour out how he felt. Even though he ruled the underworld he is a human and have feelings too.

"We go way back and I owe her."

"Is the debt so big that your happiness is worth losing?"Nikki's question touched a sore place in Leon's heart.

Nikki could see that Leon wanted to express himself but couldn't "Talk to me, am right here." She persuaded him.

Her voice was so comforting to him that he couldn't help but explain "It all started that night, Sarah and I walked together in a lonely street back to the car park where Wayne was waiting for us. We were just about to graduate from high school so we went to get measured by the tailor for our graduation gowns."

"On our way back, she confessed her love for me but I turned her down that she was just like a sister to me and nothing more, she tried to hold my arm but I slipped from her grasp. She stood in one spot as she watched me walk then she yelled at me saying she wouldn't leave where she was until I come back for her and if I do it means I love her back."

"I wanted to show her that we had nothing together so I left her there and didn't turn back. When I got to the park Wayne was mad that I left her so we both went back to get her."

Leon paused for a while, he swallowed his saliva then continued "We went back but she wasn't where I left her so we searched for her and we saw...... we saw two men....... two huge men violate her. We killed the men at the spot but it couldn't take back what had been done........ "
