Peculiar Children

Chapter 7 - Monster

I was walking in the hallways of school, going to my next class. I heard footsteps behind me, so I stopped.

"If it isn't Aisha.." Katie. She used to be so nice, until she got with the wrong crowd..

"Hey Katie, what do you want ?" I asked her, not bothering to look back.

"Well, you can give yourself some scary features right?" She already knows this..

"Yes, what about it?" I grumbled.

She walked up in front of me with a smirk. "Some boys in class won't lay off me, so I want you to scare them away for me, you'll be rewarded for your hard work."

I raised an eyebrow. "So you want to use me for my mystical abilities to get the boys off for you, because you aren't a monster and because your too pretty. Am I following?" I gladly added some sarcastic comments in there, and I can't say that I regret it.

"Excuse me? Who needs you anyways? Monsters like you don't belongs in this town. Why can't you just go back to your cursed forest?" Katie snapped, shoving me as she walked by.

'Monster'

That is hardly the correct term for what we are. We are humans that were blessed with powers you flesh bags weren't.

"Hey! Aishaaaa!" A squeaky voice came from behind me. "Want to hang out after school?"

"Sorry Misaki, I have plans." I told her.

Her friends caught up with her after I said that. I transformed my ear to something that would suffice.

"Why doesn't Aisha want to hang out with anyone anymore? She used to be so open."

"Well she started acting strange after her brother died."

"So she cut off connections from the rest of the world?"

"I suppose.."

"That's so sad.."

Not wanting to hear anymore of their gossip, I ran off of school grounds without another thought.
