Peculiar Children

Chapter 9 - Visitor

I went downstairs to answer the door for Lillie, and Armond got there first. But it wasn't Lillie at the door. It was Isaac.

"Isaac?!" I choked. He hasn't been at our door ever since..What is he doing here?

Armond stared him down intensely, "Aisha, you know him?" It was obvious that Armond sensed he was human and didn't like him.

"Y-yeah, this is Isaac, one of the kids that moved next door to us for the past three years.." my voice wavered, still unable to reason out why he came.

"Alright, Isaac.. why are you here?" Armond intensified his glare and tone.

Isaac glanced up at me, "uhm, well, I wanted to make sure that Aisha was okay.. she kind of left school in a bit of a hurry."

Armond looked at me and then back at Isaac, sighing. "I leave this to you." He g.r.o.a.n.e.d.

Isaac smiled up at me, "Uh hey.."

"Isaac, what are you really here for?" I ask him quite directly. He looked down.

"I saw what happened with the girls, with, my twin sister. I'm sorry about her. I apologize on her behalf for her behavior towards you these past few years.." Isaac told me. I haven't heard anyone apologize on someone else's behalf since.. he died.

Isaac continued, "and I'm sorry for something I did." He look up with me with pure regret in his eyes.

"Sorry for what..?" I can't remember Isaac doing me any wrong, ever.

"I'm sorry for that day, you showed me you were one of them, and I freaked.. and dissed you. The next day you lost contact with everyone..and I can't help but feel extremely guilty." He frowned.

I just stared at him in disbelief, "You've carried that moment this whole time..?" He nodded.

"Isaac, meet me at lunch tomorrow." I said told him.

"Huh?"

"Just.. be there, you don't mind a little venting so you..? I need someone other than Armond to talk to." I asked him.

He quickly nodded. "Of course I'm always right next door if you ever need to talk."
