Ch8 - Sheng Xinghe’s Vision

Standing on the zebra crossing with his school bag on his back, Shu Jin tried to close his right eye.

He doesn’t know how to close one eye, and he never wink, so his eyelids trembled so badly. In the end, he raised his arm and covered his right eye with his right hand.

His vision was cut in half by the darkness immediately.

The red light was on at the intersection, and Shu Jin couldn’t see the waiting cars in the lane on the right. and he also didn’t know who was standing on his right either. Although he can hear the noises of the students on the sidewalk on the right after school, he doesn’t know if it was because his field of view has become narrow, the uncertain factors have been magnified. He even felt that his hearing had fallen.

The friend who persuaded him to do this pushed his shoulder on the left and smiled: “With one eye missing, it feels exaggerated, right!”

Shu Jin put down his hands and said indifferently: “It’s okay, too.”

His friend gestures: “Nothing is okay. If I punch you from the right and run away immediately, you will never know who hit you. Otherwise you go and try it today. ”

Shu Jin pursed his lips: “I don’t want to.”

Ever since Sheng Xinghe came to school,  Shu Jin’s conversations on the way out of school have gradually included topics like “what is it like for Sheng Xinghe to see with only one eye”.

When Sheng Xinghe first reported to his sophomore year, every student in the school talked about his appearance and eyes.

In the beginning, there will be boys deliberately playing around in the corridor outside their class to look at Sheng Xinghe. In fact, no matter where Sheng Xinghe appears in the school, people will cast curious eyes on him. Later, some daring girls also joined the affair, and would hand out small cards to Sheng Xinghe. Written on it were words such as “You are great” and “Fate rewards those who have suffered” and other self-moving words.

Shu Jin is in his first year in high school, so their classroom is in another building. But even so, he still hears a lot of gossip about Sheng Xinghe.

Once, his friends got too excited about the conversation, and directly said: “Don’t sprinkle salt on other people’s wounds. You should pay more attention to his awesome results when you have time.”

Everyone said that the world of straight A students is made up of talents, and that they are destined to be unable to understand it.

Shu Jin said: “Talent is only just a small part of it. He works hard and reads late every day.”

Everyone: “How do you know?”

Shu Jin thought for a while, and didn’t feel that it was a shame to tell this group of friends, so he said: “He is a poor student sponsored by my father. He lives in my house now.”

The crowd gasped in awe and praised the Shu family for their financial support.

Shu Jin thought for a while, and vaguely remembered who he had heard about this before, but it was a long time ago: “It seems to be the child of a worker in my dad’s factory. Sheng Xinghe’s family lived in the town where my dad’s factory is. I’ve been there twice. It should be from the accident that happened when they were playing around when they were very young. I didn’t ask about it carefully. My dad thinks that he is responsible for it as a legal person, so he took initiative to support him.”

Finally, he said to this group of people: “In short, you are not allowed to discriminate against him in the future, nor are you allowed to tell others about this matter. I will scold you if I hear it, oh.”

Although Sheng Xinghe’s temperament is a bit bland, as an only child, Shu Jin found the feeling of having a brother in Sheng Xinghe for the first time. Sheng Xinghe would take care of everything he didn’t want to do at home, and Sheng Xinghe would comfort and smooth his fur when he fought with Shu Zhaoyuan. In the summer evening, he wanted to eat ice cream on a whim, and Sheng Xinghe would also buy it for him while walking the dog.

Sheng Xinghe is two years older than Shu Jin. Younger people don’t need a reason to behave, so his title has changed from “Hey” to “Brother”.

Green light; his friend patted him on the shoulder to say goodbye: “I’m leaving.”

Shu Jin still had to wait for Sheng Xinghe, so he lazily responded: “En.”

The teacher in sophomore year started to like to delay the class, so Sheng Xinghe would always come out a little later than Shu jin.

As usual, Shu Jin was bored and took out his mobile phone and leaned against the streetlight pole on the sidewalk to play games. After waiting for ten minutes, Sheng Xinghe came out of the school.

The teenager’s stature is in the process of an extreme growth spurt.

In the scattered group of students, the upright and lean Sheng Xinghe could easily be caught by Shu Jin’s gaze.

He carried his school bag with one hand, while the other was in his trouser pocket. The white uniform that was trimmed with blue edges on his body is obviously the same as everyone else’s, but he looks better than the rest.

If it wasn’t for that gray and turbid eye on that fresh and beautiful face, those eyes cast on Sheng Xinghe could only be because of his sufficiently superior appearance.

“I’m done with all my homework oh.” Shu Jin put away the phone and said, “When are you going to do it?”

They were already halfway through the level of the two-player game. In the last self-study class, Shu Jin catches up with his homework, so he can play games with Sheng Xinghe in the evening.

“Maybe eight or nine o’clock.” Sheng Xinghe said.

The two waited until the green light before crossing the road to go home together.

Shu Jin was quite happy and made arrangements: “Then I’ll go help you walk the dog after dinner today, and you do your homework first.”

Puffs is obviously his dog, and he can take it for granted.

“Okay.” Sheng Xinghe replied, “I will do it faster.”

When a left-turning car approached, Shu Jin was taken aback, and quickly took Sheng Xinghe’s arm: “Brother!”

His heart is still beating violently, but the car only stopped, preparing to take the U-turn area.

He had just tried “Sheng Xinghe’s Vision”, and he was overly nervous.

Sheng Xinghe smiled: “I saw it.”

Shu Jin breathed a sigh of relief and turned to stand on Sheng Xinghe’s right: “I was afraid you hadn’t seen it.”

Sheng Xinghe said: “I’m used to it, I can feel it.”

Playing games at night, Shu Jin’s character died first. He waited for Sheng Xinghe to break through the encirclement to help him, but since there’s nothing to do, he suddenly remembered what his friend said when school was over.

He sat on Sheng Xinghe’s right side and peeked at the side of Sheng Xinghe’s face.

The light in the living room was not turned on, and the game interface on the projection changed, then the light and shadow also changed on Sheng Xinghe’s chiseled cheeks.

Shu Jin looked at Sheng Xinghe’s eyes from the right, and found that he really didn’t seem to notice anything, and that his gray eyeball didn’t perceive any changes from the right side.

Is he totally invisible, or can he really sense things?

Shu Jin really felt sorry for Sheng Xinghe.

He watched him for ten seconds, and reached out to wave his fist on Sheng Xinghe’s right side.

Sheng Xinghe didn’t respond.

He leaned closer, and when he was about to do it again, Sheng Xinghe suddenly turned his head: “What’s the matter?”

Unexpectedly, he was caught in the act.

Sheng Xinghe half-closed his eyelids and turned his gaze on Shu Jin’s cheek: “Is there something on my face?”

Shu Jin’s heart jumped sharply. He stepped back, and hesitated: “Just, want to see if you can find out if I make faces at you here.”

Sheng Xinghe looked back at the game again: “No, I can’t see it.”

Shu Jin was surprised: “Then how do you know I’m looking at you?”

Sheng Xinghe said: “You got so close, and your breath swept my neck.”

Shu Jin: “…”

After a while, Shu Jin asked: “Brother, do you hate the person who hurt your eyes?”

They have not talked about such a deep issue yet.

“If it weren’t for him, your eyes wouldn’t be like this, and you would have seen the world differently since you were a child. Do you especially hate him at certain moments?” Then Shu Jin said seriously, “If it were me, I would definitely hate him.”

“Of course.” Sheng Xinghe put down the console, and seemed to be thinking. Then he told Shu Jin, “But the family has already compensated for it. We actually ran into them in town and heard that he was studying out of town because of it.”

Shu Jin was startled: “That’s it.”

What happens in small places is usually very difficult to fade with time, especially if the people involved have been living there.

Although both parties were too young at the time, as the other party to the incident, that family had to avoid it somehow and go somewhere else to survive, which would be free from many psychological or moral accusations.

At that time, Shu Jin could not empathize with the person who hurt Sheng Xinghe.

But he also knew that this one accident had ruined not only Sheng Xinghe’s childhood, but also other people’s lives.

Then later, everything was turned upside down.

Shu Jin was standing outside the accident, yet one day he suddenly learned that he was the center of the whirlwind.
