The next day, Soul was sitting on a bench close to a fountain and waiting for Matthew to shows up.

After a while, he saw the usual brown hair and eyes kid coming toward him while waving his hand as he returned it back.

They greeted each other and talked for a while before starting to walk to the gym. As they did that, Soul heard a high-pitched voice from behind them.

Turning around, he saw someone, who he didn't want to see right now. It was Ashley and Opal.

Matthew: Hey Soul, who are those two?

Soul didn't answer him as he quickly grabs him and runs away. He didn't hear what they said, but it wasn't something that he wants to think to hear.

After a while, both of them finally arrived at where the Cinnabar Gym was. Soul put Matthew down as he quickly took a deep breath.

Matthew, who was still confused looked at Soul with a confusing and awed expression.

Matthew: Soul why did you run away from them? And also, you're so strong!

Soul: Just some old friends of mine. Let's just say its best if we go away from them or else we would be sitting in a cafe for hours.

Matthew: Oh…

After a while, they opened the entrance to Cinnabar Gym and walked in. The pathway was made of rock.

They continued walking to another gate in front of them, as they opened the gate and saw an old man waiting for them behind the gate.

Blaine who was waiting for his first challenge of the day saw the gate was begin opened. When the door was fully opened, he was surprised by who he saw.

It was the brat from yesterday and another kid!

Soul: What up, old man?

Hearing this, Blaine gained an irk mark on his forehead as he holds his anger back. If these two came here, there's one reason for that, and that is gym battle!

Blaine: Hmph! So which one of you would be the first to get defeated by me?

Soul: It's only me, this friend of mine here would be a spectator, is that ok?

Blaine: It's fine, at least he could see how I beat you with my powerful fire-type Pokemon.

Soul: Heh, we see about that.

Matthew went to take one of the spectator's seats, as Soul and Blaine took their position while holding a Pokeball each.

Blaine: Sorry, there's no judge here. He's on a vacation, but I presume that you already know the rules?

Soul nodded at this. Almost all of the official Pokemon battles have the same rules, only few have some minor changes in them.

Blaine: All right then, we will just be fighting with 3 Pokemons, the first one who lost all of their Pokemons lose.

He said that as he threw out the Pokeball and a Growlithe came out of it. Soul went to throw his Pokeball up in the air as Lapras came out of it.

Blaine knew that he has the type disadvantage, but that didn't mean he would give up. After all, he had his pride as a gym leader.

Soul: Lapras use Sing!

Lapras begins to sing as Growlithe became drowsy and fell asleep. Blaine panicked when he saw that Growlithe slept and that his opponent Pokemon would likely use a water-type move to finish it off.

Blaine: Growlithe wake-up!

Soul: Lapras finish it with up with Water Pulse.

Growlithe didn't wake up and instead, got hit by a powerful Water Pulse by Lapras and fainted.

Soul: Good job, Lapras.

Lapras smiled as it made some happy sound. Blaine returned Growlithe back to its Pokeball and sent out another one.

This time it was a Ponyta. Soul didn't start the first move this time, because he wanted to see how Blaine and his Pokemon fight with each other.

Blaine: Ponyta uses Flame Charge.

Ponyta's body covered itself in flame as it rushed toward Lapras and hit its hard body. Lapras didn't take so much damage from that, as she has been taking on harder hits from her teammates.

Soul: If that is all you can do then goodbye, Lapras uses Body Slam.

Blaine: You give me no choice then, Ponyta uses Double Edge!

When Lapras' body was about to hit Ponyta, it covered itself with gold aura around it and went to jump towards Lapras.

Lapras, who felt a sting on its stomach didn't stop her attack and went to slam her body down on Ponyta, creating a large crater.

When Lapras' body went away, they could see that Ponyta fainted from the clash. Blaine returned Pony back to its Pokeball and looked at Soul seriously.

Blaine: Brat, how many badges do you have?

Soul: Six, you're my seven gym battle, now.

Blaine: So you have six badges, huh. And by what you just said, you only battled each gym one time and won. I admit that your Pokemons are strong, so that's why we will be giving it our all, right, partner?

This time Blaine sent out his partner and ace, Magmar.

Soul: 'Let's put it on a test first.' Lapras use Sing.

Lapras begins to sing, but it didn't affect Magmar at all as it stared at its opponent fiercely.

Blaine: I'm afraid that tactic won't work on my Magmar. Now use Thunder Punch!

Soul: Counter it with Ice Beam!

Magmar managed to dodge the Ice Beam by a second before hitting Lapras with a powerful Thunder Punch.

Even though it was an effective move, Lapras didn't faint, but she became angry and used Rain Dance.

Grey clouds begin to form over the battlefield as rains begin to fall down.

Soul: Well, it looks like my Pokemon would like to end this battle now, sorry. Lapras use Hydro Pump!

Magmar who was close to Lapras didn't manage to dodge as it was hit by a powerful Hydro Pump, which was stronger than before thanks to Rain Dance.

After it was it, it was sent flying and fell down to the ground and fainted. Just like that, the match have ended.

Blaine sighed as he returned Magmar back to its Pokeball and walked over to Soul with a badge.

Blaine: Congrats for winning the gym battle. Here's the proof that you have beaten me.

Soul received the Flame Badge as he thanked Blaine and walked out of the gym with Matthew, who congrats him on his winning.

When both of them came out, Soul saw someone he didn't expect to meet again.

Ashley: Hello boys~ you have made us wait for quite a while. What should we do with you two, huh?

Matthew: Um sorry, but my parents just texted me to go to our wooden cabin, bye!

With that, Matthew made a run for his life and ran away.

Soul: H-Hey, come back!

Suddenly he felt a shiver behind him as he saw a dark expression forming on Ashley's face. Behind her was Opal, who made a prayer to him.

Before he could say anything, Ashley lifted his whole body up and begins to sprints.
