Project Overworld

Chapter 105 - Spacol's image

After getting Amber's confirmation regarding the fact that the rocket safely arrived at the EOSS, Keith focused back on the 'Rocket assembler' to make another round of improvements to the machine. Since they were going to get really busy during these following months, he wanted to accomplish as much as possible during this small trip at his land base.

For now, it seemed like the rocket sent by the robot did automatically dock to their space station, so he was pretty satisfied about that. On the other hand, he estimated that there were several changes he could be making to the machine so they could reduce the total construction time to about six days. There were also a few improvements he wanted to do on the design of their rockets so they could be transporting more materials overall.

It took him another couple of weeks to do so, but managed to accomplish most of what he came here for. Since going to the Moon was their most important current project, he thus decided not to delay his stay any longer and planned on hopping onto the next rocket the assembler would be making so he could going back to the EOSS.

'Now that I think about it, shouldn't I try and improve our company's image?' Keith meditated. After recruiting Jim, Leyla and Xena last time around, he only made a public announcement stating that Spacol had chosen three engineers from the competition Keith organized to join their ranks.

However, since then, he has not made any statement regarding their current goals. It would be pretty hard in the future to convince Project Overworld players that Spacol continued innovating without proof at hand. For now, he was not interested in recruiting any new player so he did not really think about how Spacol was regarded by the rest of the community.

'I should really improve as a company leader...' He realized. 'Maybe I should open some sort of a social media profile where I would be posting our latest achievements to the public.'

In the end, he decided that he would be redacting a post on Project Overworld forums to update everyone on the current goals of Spacol. He still decided not to reveal his friends to the public yet because he did not want them to be distracted by their sudden popularity or anything like that. In any case, being this popular could be impacting one's mental a lot.

In the case of Eric, who happened to be his rival in the past, he got obnubilated by his popularity which in turn worsened his relationship with his friends. As of now, Keith did not hear a lot about this man. After this famous Moon race was over, it seemed like he entered some sort of a depressed state and lost about eighty percent of his total viewerbase since he was not being interesting anymore.

From the lastest news Keith could gather on the forums, he made it out and was now working for the municipal team of Yggdrasil with diligence. Most of his friends stayed with him and they all focused on building satellites that the whole community would be using in the future. It seemed like they sent about ten satellites around the Earth already and were improving by the day.

'It's good that he was able to recover from his loss. I did shatter all of his dreams in a day, after all.' Keith has actually been quite remorseful about making someone feel so down. Thanks to Leyla, he kept in contact with Eric so he could be advising him and making sure he would not quit this game for good.

In his own case, Keith was not directly impacted by his popularity. He did not really care and instead focused on working towards his own goals. However, he received a lot private messages every day on the forums that he could not be browsing through all the time and also found out that a some groups of players were trying to gather informations on him and unveil his true identity.

He was not that concerned about it, since he knew most of them did not mean harm. There were a lot of streamers who already received this kind of treatment and they did not seem that impacted about it. However, he also wanted to keep a bit of privacy and never planned on becoming a public figure anyways. He was clearly against working as a streamer or videographer and being this popular could be restraining his future choices.

In any case, he did not want to inflict this kind of unwanted attention to his subordinates. They were currently happily working for him towards the grand schemes he envisioned and Keith would do anything to keep the situation as it is now.

After a few more days, Keith's rocket was finally ready so he climbed towards the c.o.c.kpit of the vehicle.

'Okay, I should engage this and... Here we go!' Keith activated the engines of his rocket. On board were really important resources for his friends, such as oxygen and other essential gases, so he could not afford to make any mistakes. Fortunately, several programs he improved over the years were installed in the vehicle's system so there would be close to no risks at all.

After the rocket launched, Keith decided disconnected from the game for the time being. There was no reason for him to stay there, and he could be taking care of other matters while he was traveling towards space. Thus, he finally decided on making that post he thought about a few days ago and update everyone on Spacol's current situation.

'Alright, I have several hours before me. Let's make use of it!' Keith motivated himself.Find authorized novels in , faster updates, better experience, Please click #'s-image_50279644083053530 for visiting.

_______________

'Oh, it's been a long time since I've heard of Keith.' Amber thought while pleasantly discovering a post that was made by her long-standing acquaintance. Originally, she connected to the forums to find out about everyone's feelings on 'Project : Vanilla' but was instead welcome with quite the surprise.

Throughout his post, Keith reassured everyone that he was still working towards space exploration and that he had not been talking a lot recently because he focused on training his new recruits. Afterwards, he mentionned about their latest achievements such as an automated rocket assembler and Spacol's recent decision establishing on the Moon.

He also linked a single picture of the 'Rocket assembler v1.3' with him stading right next to it so he could be pointing out how big this machine was.

- "I really apologize about the lack of pictures of my base, but I did not want to expose everything about my friends' privacy. In any case, I just wanted to update you all on Spacol's situation and I hope you will stay tuned for our future plans!" He finished his post with a few apologetic words.

'So he's still in it, huh?' Amber meditated. She was not that concerned about him going off the radars for several months, but she did not expect their group to have improved this much in the meantime. Keith was a real enigma and she could not understand why he was making this post. Over time, people eventually stopped caring about Spacol and she thought that was the result he wanted to accomplish.

However, just like that, he revived the hype most players of Project Overworld had about Spacol and Keith in particular. 'Did he plan on recruiting more engineers or something? In that case, he would become a real competitor to us.' She realized. If Keith gathered some of the most brilliant engineers everytime he organized a recruitement session, their own work force would be diminished in the process.

'Let's not jump to conclusions, though.' She calmed herself down. 'I came here to check comments about Project Vanilla after all.'

Their grandiose project had finally released to the public. During the first few days, hundreds of thousand players gathered all around the area delimited by walls, all hoping to get into the event. Unfortunately, only twenty thousand players could come in at once to better simulate the start of Project Overworld.

Amber did plan this out, though, as her team installed several monitors all around the walls so that people who did not get into it could be watching some of the bloodbathes this arena knew. It was one of the latest inventions Midgard and the whole server has came across, too. Making a whole surveillance camera system connected to far away monitors has not been an easy feat for Midgard's inventors to accomplish, but they did make it just before the announcement of 'Project : Vanilla' was made.

She could not be more satisfied about this fact. The game immediately gathered a lot of attention and people were camping around here just to see how things would unfold in the future.

The placement of 'Project : Vanilla' arena has been studied a lot too. It has been installed only a few dozen miles away from Asgard, so people could be staying at the city and coming back here using the concrete road that has been established during the last few months.

Overall, Amber could not have thought about a better start to this grandiose project, and the forums did comfort her in this idea. A large portion of the community was commenting on this event and most of them were betting on the best players who would be coming out of it. Several groups already found their fans and people were already dreaming about the server reset in a month from now.

'That isn't even all. Yall better wait to see the improvements we planned for this game!' Amber meditated.
