Project Overworld

After passing the last night crafting tools, Keith had yet to develop more complex technologies. He didn't really have the use of some basic metal weapons, but he might be forced to craft some for those of the New Dawn's guild.

Thus he needed some preparations so he would always be a step ahead of them. Iron armor and sword might just be a total waste of time, but he already had gunpowder and iron, a sturdy metal that could resist explosions.

'Time to work on a firearm.'

He was missing some of the tools required to work on such a detailed work, but Keith couldn't afford to waste time.

Everything he owned could be stolen or destroyed at any time, especially when he wasn't there to protect his base. For that purpose he also had a few projects up his sleeves, but he didn't have the resources he needed yet. For now, he could only prepare to fight against other players.

He went into his cave and started mining iron. He wanted to make more refined tools and he would need a lot of iron for that purpose. he also mined a few other metals with him before climbing back.

After returning to his base, he started working on a few spears reinforced with copper, to make his jailers pleased.

It was really restrictive to work for them, and Keith could pretty much pack up all the important resources he owned and establish somewhere else. However, it was a mutual benefit treaty. They were using him to work for them without having to include him in their group, but Keith was also benefiting from them to progress a faster. He only had to focus on mining ores and finding new resources because Amber would bring him basic goods.

It took him an hour to make three spears, and he deposited them into the exchange area.

Now, he could focus on his personal projects. Amber would visit him in a few hours from now, so he couldn't start smelting his ores. Instead, he began to design a new furnace destined to generate energy. His ultimate goal was to produce electricity and to start working on complex devices.

Of course, it would take some time, but it was always faster than in real life. Moreover a lot of great discoveries were due to chance more than reflection.

Keith had the advantage to know approximately what he was doing. And he could also make up for his lack of knowledge by searching on the Internet.

After working for a bit, he went before his base to wait for Amber. It didn't take long before she appeared in the distance. As usual, she gave him some basic resources. However, she was really disappointed when she saw the spears :

- "Hum, could you make more of these? We're having some troubles these days and I think three weapons won't be enough."

- "Those are copper reinforced spears, you couldn't even dream of making one yet if you haven't even started digging."

- "Sure, but I'm more into the numbers than the quality. Additionally, could you start working on ranged weapons, it would be really great from you."

'Urgh, that seems like more of a threat than a suggestion…' Keith thought.

- "Yeah, I guess I can start working on these. Then next time I will be crafting five spears and two bows with ten arrows each."

- "Sounds good to me. Then if everything is settled, I'll be on my way."

After a few seconds, she turned back and said :

- "Oh and Keith, don't take it at heart. I know I'm being rude to you, but in fact I like you a lot. It's just that we're in a though spot so we're rushing things a bit."

After she departed, Keith started a fire in his furnace and spent the rest of the day making precise tools such as a small knife to sculpt molten metal, a pointy like tool to dig holes in his crafts and more. He also made a shovel, a pickaxe and a lantern to help him during his underground explorations.

Finally, he worked on his firearm project starting by making the b.u.t.t of a rifle.

However, Keith needed to start working on the items requested by Amber before going to sleep, so he smothered the fire and spent the next two hours on creating weapons for the New Dawn guild.

Finishing his preparations for next day, he hid inside his secret cave to disconnect safely from the game.

'Aw man, what a tiring day!' Keith thought while removing his virtual reality device.

'I really need to work faster if I want to reach my goals though. The space's not going to be conquered by itself.'
