Queen Of Adis

Chapter 46 - I am really mad now!

The aquatic show had proven to be phenomenal and the performers had given their best, knowing that the Royal Family was watching their event. The routine was flawlessly executed; from the parade of all the sea creatures, dancing of lights and water, musical acrobats of the dolphins, stingrays, and mermen, until the closing spectacle of stunning fireworks in the sky.

Every moment was magical for the audience, especially to Haru. For the first time since she got pregnant, she did not fall asleep and her energy had skyrocketed all throughout the performance.

However, it was a different story to Adis and his cohorts. Whenever Haru will make sudden movements, whether she would stand up or jump in glee, Adis, Anais, and Aquarius would follow her every move. And before they knew it, the show had already ended.

Fang, Graves and all the Grim Reapers were on constant high alert. No one was allowed to step foot at the Royal Family's balcony and there was a huge distance from the crowd. When it was time to leave the pavilion, the royalties used their own passage so they could avoid any commotion.

Nevertheless, their attempt to avoid the crowd had proven to be ineffective as they were met with a different kind of mob as soon as they stepped out of the pavilion. Several audacious nobles and court officials approached the royal family to socialize. They were looming over them, pushing and pulling to be the first one to speak and be noticed by the Kings.

"Ah, Your Majesties, did you enjoy the show? I heard that due to insistent demand, they will extend their performance until next week."

"My Kings, about my proposal to revise the tax law of the three realms, have you seen my addendum at the end of the doc.u.ment?"

"My Kings, my two beautiful daughters are with me today. Would you grant this humble earl a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to introduce them to you?"

The nonsensical noise was starting to irritate Adis and he was so close on exterminating all the pests in front of him. Haru, on the other hand, was starting to feel dizzy at the lack of oxygen in the air. She inadvertently let go of Adis' hand to steady herself when she felt someone pushed her on the side.

She inhaled a large amount of fresh air when she was finally out of the suffocating mob. When her peripheral vision caught on something, she immediately turned to look at it. Her eyebrows instantly creased when she saw a familiar silhouette.

"Pier?" She breathed out in uncertainty, and before she noticed it, her feet were already walking slowly towards the man.

In the meantime, Adis instinctively reached out for Haru's hand out of habit. When he felt nothing but air, his head snapped at his side. He instantly turned rigid when his wife was nowhere in sight. His lips trembled as he spun his head left and right. Zen and Aqua felt his panic and looked at him, only to stiffen when they saw that Haru was no longer with them.

When a stupid noble noticed their odd behavior, he boldly asked, "My Kings, is anything wrong?"

Adis finally snapped from the outrageous question. The white in his eyes had once again turned black and a destructive dark wind burst out from his body as he loudly growled. It sent the pests clamoring around him flying, then knocked them out on the ground.

"Everything was wrong! Because of you, foolish creatures, my wife is now missing! If I won't be able to find her, I will rip all your heads off!" He seethed and quickly turned around before he barked his command to Fang. "Lock them all in the torture chamber!"

The Grim Reapers drifted in the air to have an aerial view of the entire area while their eyes were wary for any white moving object. Adis turned all his senses on the maximum level to feel his beloved's presence, tempted to use the Forbidden Act again at any minute.

"Sister-in-law!"

When Aquarius suddenly yelled out, Adis instantly pivoted at the direction of his voice. He felt relieved when he saw his Haru wearing her usual long white dress and walking towards a dark alley. As though he had grown wings on his feet, he crossed their great distance in just three moves with an unbelievable speed.

When Haru was about to turn at the intersection towards an alley, she abruptly felt cold fingers dug her arms and harshly turned her around. Then, before she could react, her face was shoved to the brute's c.h.e.s.t and her body was crushed into a punishing embrace.

She was immediately enveloped with dark energy that's seeping out of Adis' body. He buried his face in her neck and clutched the back of her head and small waist. She was almost running out of breath from his tight grip, but at the same time, she could feel the frantic beating of his heart.

"Stupid! Troublesome! Fool! Stubborn! Idiot!" Adis was chanting all kinds of expletives while he was violating her neck with his harsh kisses. "Are you out of your mind? Do you really want me to die of a heart attack?"

When he finally released her body from his restraints, he imprisoned her face in his hands and continued his reprimand. "Stupid. Troublesome. Fool. Stubborn Idiot!" He exclaimed in between kisses. His method of punishment would make one commit a crime over and over again.

She hurriedly explained, "I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you worried. I was feeling dizzy from the crowd so I stepped out to get some fresh air. Then, I thought I saw Pier and--"

"What?!" The three Kings shouted at the same time.

"Sister-in-law, where did you see him go?" Aquarius immediately seconded.

Haru pointed at the dark alley where she was supposed to enter, "There."

Zen and Aquarius, together with Graves and imperial knights, ran towards the direction she pointed.

Adis, on the other hand, was astounded by her foolishness. "Are you insane? Why would you go after him?"

Haru looked puzzled at his question. "Why wouldn't I? You know that Pier is the first friend I made in Trium Regum and I owe him my life. He disappeared after our wedding and I haven't heard anything from him since. I just wanted to verify if it was really him, and..."

"Shut it." He gritted as he was still grasping for his sanity. "I am really mad now. Reflect on your actions!" As soon as he finished his statement, both of them vanished in the air.

******************************

After the heart-stopping incident at the Water City, the three Kings had another meeting about Pier's sightings in Atlantis. Some witnesses confirmed his presence at many places in Atlantis. They also found out that the Duke had been stalking Haru since before the start of the aquatic show. Aqua and Zen were already chasing a new lead by interrogating all the officials that hampered their way back to the palace.

Adis was on his way back to his bedchamber. After he calmed down, he realized that it was not Haru's fault that she had gone after Duke Pier. After all, she did not have any idea what kind of evil her good friend had become.

Adis sighed and shook his head. Now that he thought of it, in his eyes, his wife could never be wrong. Even if she was at fault, for him, she would still be right.

He halted his footsteps when he saw Haru was walking towards the palace library alone. He suddenly masked his presence and strides as he followed behind her. He noticed that Anais was not around so he made a mental note to reprimand the lamia later.

"Hmm? This looks good but I need to have more. With Adis being angry like that, I will definitely be grounded for sure."

Adis heard his queen muttered to herself while choosing some books to take with her. He sneaked through the huge shelves and saw that she was already hugging two books in her c.h.e.s.t and he was afraid that adding more would be too heavy for her to carry.

Haru stood on her tippy toes as she reached out for a book located at the higher portion of the bookshelf. All of a sudden, a big hand took the book she d.e.s.i.r.ed while he towered over her. He leaned down and unceremoniously pressed his lips on her partially opened lips.

Her breath trembled as Adis' tongue began to demand entrance to taste her sweet moist. "Are you not mad at me anymore?" She whispered against his lips with a voice that sounded hopeful.

"Do you still want me to be mad," he whispered back as his fiery eyes were burning against hers.

Haru's eyes widened as she rambled in panic. "Please don't. Haru knows that she was wrong. Haru will behave now. Haru doesn't want to see her Adis being mad, it makes me sad," she sobbed.

"Very well," Adis wrapped his arm around her waist while his other hand brushed her cheek. "But I want you to promise me something. If you will see Pier again, you will either hide or run away from him. Can you promise me that?"

Haru looked confused and contemplated for a moment. She wanted to ask the reason why she had to avoid Pier but she could feel that Adis had his reasons. He was not the type to ask her to abandon a friend out of jealousy. After a moment, she nodded as she decided to trust him until he was ready to tell her the truth. "Mn, I promise."
