"Sshh, Listen!"

Haru instantly went rigid and alert upon hearing Adis' dangerous tone. When she glanced up at him, she saw his eyes narrowed as he listened intently while preparing to commit a bloodbath.

"How many?" She whispered, referring to the upcoming enemies.

"A lot," he simply replied as his knuckles cracked when he clenched his fists. His eyes swept the area for a good place to hide. "Hey, brat, go hide to that huge stone." He gently commanded to Haru as his chin tilted to his d.e.s.i.r.ed direction. "And don't come out until I told you so."

"A-are they the monsters you were saying that's roaming on the frozen field?"

"No. Based on their almost non-existent breathing and fast, light movements, I'd say they are professional assassins." He determined and pushed Haru to start moving. 'They must have a powerful client to even dare challenge this King in a broad daylight,' he thought to himself.

Haru reluctantly did as she was told and ran towards the nearby hiding place he mentioned. She ducked down while her heartbeat quickened in her c.h.e.s.t. When she heard faint but rapid scrunch noises of the snow, she peeked out a bit and was shocked to see that Adis was now surrounded by several masked men. However, she was more horrified to see that he was just peacefully standing in the middle like a log with his eyes closed.

'What the hell is he doing? Does he even know how to fight? Maybe I should help him? Oh, dear gods, why are there so many enemies?' her mind cried out in panic. She was seeing at least 50 or so assassins, holding different weapons in their hands.

She softly whimpered and her eyes grew wide when ten assassins attacked Adis at the same time. Before their strikes could even land on him, black smoke burst out from his body and threw the villains away. When they landed on the ground, their bodies twitched while their flesh was slowly corroding and falling apart, exposing their bones and guts out.

Haru covered her mouth with her trembling hands at the gruesome way of killing, considering that the carnage was just starting. Her body jolted as loud thunder roared in the dark clouds and numerous lightning strikes rained down from the sky, burning some of his opponents alive while shrieking at the top of their lungs.

All of a sudden, multiple dark magic circles appeared from nowhere and the gravity around Adis seemed to turn off, lifting the assassins in the air while struggling. Once they were high enough, a sudden gravitational pull smashed them down to the ground with a force that swept the snow clean and created huge dents and cracks on the ground. Some who were unable to envelop themselves in protective barriers were instantly crushed to pieces, blood and guts splattering on the field and painting the white snow red, black and brown.

In one fell swoop, the enemies were almost annihilated while Adis had not budged from his position. Those few souls who were able to survive the crash, sounded their flute to call for backup before their bodies were sliced into fine pieces by dark wind blades.

Haru was torn between horror and relief. She didn't expect that the man who was so gentle to her could be so destructive without batting an eyelash. Now, she didn't know what to believe about him anymore.

A rustling sound suddenly woke her up from her reverie. When she glanced up, her pupils dilated in panic. Twenty more assassins creeped out from the thick snow and was closing in on Adis from behind.

"A-Adis, no!" Before she could even stop herself, she took her coat off and her feet already moved in lightning speed and jumped towards her devil.

She used Adis' broad and strong shoulders like a balance beam and did a handstand split kick, hitting two enemies on their neck at once.

Despite being startled by her speed and moves, his arm instinctively caught her small waist as she landed safely on the ground. He helplessly shook his head as he gently chided her. "Tsk, I knew you would not listen to my instructions."

Their movements were in sync as though they were in a dance. Adis lifted her up again, with her hands on his shoulders and his on her h.i.p.s, and supported her as she extended her back leg for a high back kick towards the incoming assassin.

Haru wrinkled her nose as he placed her down on the ground and went behind him. She ground her feet to a fighting stance. "Thought you might need some help since you're taking so long," she taunted.

Adis just grinned as he leaned his back on hers. "Damn! I would love to silence that cheeky lips with mine, soon."

"You can die trying," she scoffed then ran to her target. When she saw her opponent pulled his rear leg and threw a kick, she countered it with a crescent inside kick. Then, she turned her back and spun her fist backward towards her target, landing a precise spinning back fist on his jaw with a staggering force from the momentum.

"Wow! I am so aroused to see you fight like a demoness." He swung his dark sword on the assassins' neck, rolling five heads on the bloody ground at once. 'I wonder if she would be as feisty on my bed, too.'

"Damn! I would love to silence that c.o.c.ky mouth with my fist, soon." Haru imitated some of his words while deflecting the assassin's knife jab and roundhouse kick. When she found an opening, she kept her body low, drove her front knee up and jumped with her back leg. She moved in circular motion in the air as she extended her right leg across her target to land a solid tornado kick on his c.h.e.s.t.

Adis let out a bark of laughter at her witty remark. As she did an aerial cartwheel to finish off her enemy, Adis burnt the remaining pests with his black fire. Tormenting screams and screeches could be heard throughout the snowy field until the last speck of life from the villains dissipated.

"Aren't you going to keep at least one for questioning?" She asked as she dusted off some dirt on her clothes.

"No need. I already have an idea who was the fool behind this mess." He said as he enveloped her body with her white coat.

Haru inhaled sharply when she had a glimpse of his eyes. To ensure that she wasn't hallucinating, she grasped his face with her hands and stared at his demon eyes.

Adis avoided her curious gaze. He didn't want her to see his hideous self and his blood-thirsty nature on their second day of being together, however, his control snapped and before long, his eyes had changed and corpses were already scattered around him.

"No, wait! Don't hide them yet, let me see more." She stopped him from changing his eyes and forced him to look at her. "Oh my, the white of your eyes have turned black and your pupils have darkened." She whispered in awe, truly mesmerized at the phenomenon in front of her.

"Don't you find me horrendous? Are you not scared? I am a blood-thirsty demon, after all." He stopped resisting and sn.a.k.e.d his arms around her waist and back, drawing her even closer to him. She was already too close for comfort and if he would just dip his head a bit, their lips would definitely meet.

"Will you hurt me?" she asked while basking in his arms.

He bore his eyes on hers as he whispered his solemn vow. "You are too precious to me. I will never hurt you, Haru."

When she gave him her sweet and trusting smile, his world suddenly turned upside down, and his mind and body no longer recognize any rhyme or reason. His hands moved to the back of her head and to the side of her face.

And then, sparks flew everywhere when his lips finally kissed hers.

As soon as their lips touched, a long and delightful m.o.a.n came out from their mouths as though they were now complete after being lost and broken for so many years. And when he moved his lips to lapped hers, her tears rolled down to her cheeks from the overwhelming emotions.

When Adis felt her tears, he reluctantly let her go, afraid that he offended her. "I'm so--"

"Did you just stole my first kiss?" Haru's question shook him to the core. He couldn't explain why he felt so happy knowing that he was her first kiss.

He nodded in a daze then gulped at the sight of her moist lips. It was not enough. It was nowhere near enough. He wanted to invade her mouth and drink her essence. He wanted more!

"That's it? You took my first kiss just like that? So unromantic!" She exclaimed then pulled his head down to taste his lips for the second time, determined to enjoy more.

Virtue be damned! Didn't she just swore to live her life freely? Then, why the hell should she still restrain herself just because of f.u.c.kin' propriety?

Just a mere taste wasn't enough. It's confirmed. He was indeed the missing piece for her destined damnation.
