Queen Of Adis

Chapter 90 - Wake up

Adis walked inside a bedchamber and saw a man with silver hair and an androgynous feature sitting on the chair next to the bed and feeling the pulse of the woman sleeping on it.

The sleeping beauty had long curly hair as dark as the starless night and an enchanting face of a goddess. However, her captivating amber orbs that he loved so much were hiding behind her closed eyelids and thick eyelashes.

Upon noticing his presence, the silver-haired man stood up and nod his head in respect. He proactively reported his diagnosis. "Your Majesty, the Queen's condition is doing well. The baby in her w.o.m.b is also energetic. There is no need to be worried. Everything is normal, except... it's been more than a week now since our sleeping beauty decided to dream a very long dream."

"What's important is that my wife and child are healthy." He responded and carefully sat on the side of the bed.

His left hand gently squeezed the beauty's soft but cold hand while his other hand c.a.r.e.s.sed her delicate face lovingly. His scarlet eyes glowed with undying devotion, as well as pain and longing.

He swallowed the lump in his throat before he could muster a hoarse voice. "Haru, my beloved, Adis is here. It's time for your meal. Are you still having a beautiful dream?"

His hand went down to c.a.r.e.s.s the small bump on her abdomen. Then, he leaned down to softly whisper to it. "My little devil, are you behaving? Are you taking care of your mother just like what father told you?" He smiled tenderly and kissed the bump. "I know you will, thus, father is here to feed you. So keep up the good work, my brave warrior."

After a brief moment of one-way conversation with his wife and son, he looked at Frost and nodded. He pulled his sleeves and offered his arm to him.

Frost sighed heavily and took out the huge syringe he had prepared in his coat pocket and placed a needle on top. "Your Majesty, for how long are you going to keep this up?" He asked as he inserted the needle into his skin.

"For as long as she needed it. If it can sustain my wife and my child's life, even if I lose all my blood, I will continue doing it." Adis replied while staring at his Queen's serene face, hoping against hope that he could see her lashes flutter and open.

"I think you will really lose all your blood soon, My King. Therefore, if you want to keep this up for long, you should eat and rest well, too. Otherwise, you will collapse before you can see Her Majesty's eyes open one day." Frost smartly chided while looking at his haggard face.

He continued, "I heard that the Queen loves anything beautiful and dazzling. I believe, she will be disappointed once she sees you, My King."

The formidable and cold King was nowhere to be seen. His sharp eyes lost its l.u.s.ter, his cheeks hollowed, and his week-old stubbles were all over the sides of his face. His once strong and reliable shoulders looked weak. The man sitting on the bed was just an empty shell.

Well, he honestly looked better now than the first day it was found out that the Queen was in a coma. No one could speak or come near him without being thrown out or wounded. He was violent and dangerous. He only calmed down when the pope visited the Queen on the third day and advised him that Haru was just having her visions and she would eventually wake up. But for how long, no one could tell.

After the blood transfusion, Frost silently left the royal bedchamber to give the King his privacy. As soon as he closed the door and turned around, he saw the two Kings, Camus and the Ignis brothers waiting anxiously for him. Their faces held the same forlorn expression that the Demon King had. He could only give them a sad smile as he shook his head, silently conveying that nothing has changed.

The same day the kind Queen had fallen into her sweet dreams, the Water Palace seemed to have plunged into a nightmare. Everyone was gloomy and s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e and seemed to be treading on thin ice.

Frost thought that it was time for the Queen to wake up, else the world might plummet into another calamity. And this time, it might be more than just a cold tantrum of the goddess of ice. An ominous darkness was looming in the sky of the three realms.

The wrath of the Demon King was about to come.

Inside the bedchamber, Adis was tirelessly watching his beloved's face while repeatedly kissing her hand. "Haru, our wedding anniversary is coming. I hope by then... you can greet me with that radiant smile and captivating eyes of yours, like what you usually did. Once you're awake, I will bring you back to Umbra. Back to our home. There, you will give birth to our child and live in peace, reading your books and playing with our kids. Isn't it exciting? So you have to wake up soon so we can start our preparation."

When silence met his plea, he smiled painfully as he blinked back the tears that welled in his eyes. "I think I know what you are dreaming, my love. Have you gone back to the time where we first met? Are you seeing the way you heroically stole my heart forever? If yes..." his voice trembled as teardrops silently fell from his eyes. "...Can you tell to my old self... to bring you back to me? I never thought I would be jealous of myself the way I'm feeling right now. Even if it's the past or present me, I still don't want to share you with them."

"I know what your heart is saying. Because you wish to save your friend, you want to see what went wrong in the past." He rested the side of his head against her c.h.e.s.t and listened to her faint heartbeat. His hands shook and his face twisted in pain when he felt like his heart was slowly being torn apart. He whimpered and sobbed as he continued. "But, Haru, now that you're not here, who would save me? I really missed you, my love."

He leaned closer to her face and gave her soft, red lips a lingering kiss. Then, he whispered his plea against her lips, "Haru, I am begging you, please wake up."
