Queen Of Adis

Chapter 97 - Their true colors

Haru felt nauseous when a harrowing whiff of rotten rats with a bit of sickening sweetness and burnt flesh assaulted her nostrils. The odor was so powerful that she could almost taste it, making her retch from the putrid smell.

Soon, a huge magic circle appeared on the snowy ground and from within it, numerous corpses crawled out. Their bodies were blackened while the muscle tissues were exposed. Maggots, flies and black goo were slowly coming out from all holes on their head, as well as on their decaying flesh.

"My gods! What is going on here? Why are we being attacked all of a sudden?" She breathed out while her eyes seemed to bulge out from her sockets.

Zen swiftly turned around to face her and wrote a magic spell in the air. Then, her body let out a l.u.s.trous light, signaling a protective barrier was now in motion. "Sister-in-law, for your safety just stay here. Aqua and I will take care of those corpses."

Haru blinked her eyes upon seeing the menacing aura of the always cheerful King of Lumine. If not for his short golden hair and white ensemble, she would have thought that Adis was the one in front of her.

As soon as the corpses came out from the circle, hair-raising hissing sounds and groans came out from their mouths before darting towards their direction. Their eyes were white as though they were being controlled by someone and their movements were agile, meant to kill anyone in their way.

Zen crossed his arms and gently flicked his wrists, calling forth his golden twin blades. Thunder roared and almost shook the sky. His body suddenly disappeared, leaving electric sparks drifting in the air. When a lightning bolt crackled and shot in the middle of the corpses, his body emerged in a flash. He rained the opponents with his fatal attacks faster than a speeding bullet while teleporting whenever a bolt of lightning appeared.

Aquarius expertly twirled his fan and diagonally waved it towards the corpses. Splash of water swept the enemies and, like holy water to a vengeful spirit, their decaying bodies sizzled and combusted.

Then, as he leaped into the air, his fan warped into a trident. He pointed it down as he descended to attack the enemies. As soon as the tip of his weapon touched the ground, it created a destructive wave from the momentum, disintegrating the corpses around and creating huge and deep dent on the surface.

Swarm of corpses was completely annihilated by the two Kings' combined forces, leaving no room for escape.

"Aahhh, it bit me! Somebody help!"

"Kyaa! Don't come near me! Nooo!"

Before they could relax, screams and cries were suddenly heard from the few inhabitants in the area, which caught Haru and the Kings' attention.

"You gotta be kidding me!" Zen exclaimed in exasperation when flocks of *gargoyles darkened the sky and came down to assault the locals.

When they took a step to help the villagers, the ground shook and the huge but dilapidated building up ahead was unexpectedly smashed into smithereens as a gigantic foot stepped on it.

The trio stopped in their tracks. Their eyes slowly grew wide while their jaws dropped. They stiffly tilted their heads up to see the entire body of the newly arrived feral being.

Shortly, the being opened its massive mouth, exposing its yellowish and black teeth and made an earsplitting roar. A *cyclops had come to join the fiend's bandwagon.

"What the f.u.c.k?" The king of Lumine muttered in a daze. "Can somebody put an end to all these?"

As if on cue, on the other side of the sky, a murder of crows circled around a malevolent shadow on top of a majestic silver dragon. As the dark presence was nearing, the scratchy caws of the crows were also ringing to everyone's ears.

Wisps of dark aura seeped out from the body of each bird, and as if they were black missiles, they darted towards the gargoyles in lighting speed and followed it in curving trajectories.

As the crows hit their target with remarkable precision, it blasted the stone bodies of the flying creatures. The sky suddenly became a sea of explosions while the ground became a puddle of blood, scattered flesh, and internal organs.

"Here comes your Knight on a shining dragon." Aquarius quipped as he swung his weapon to turn it back to his beloved folding fan.

"Damn! Why does he always get to have a dramatic entrance?" Zen rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Maybe it's time for me to bring out my dragon, too."

On the back of a silver dragon, Einhart, a dangerous demon stood regally with eyes glowing of the imminent carnage. He opened his palm to materialize one of hell's powerful weapons, a devil pitchfork.

The gigantic monster gave another intimidating roar upon seeing the Demon King's presence and swiftly pulled back its right arm to throw a punch. Simultaneously, Adis hurled his weapon towards the Cyclops' single eye with ease.

As soon as the weapon entered into its enormous pupil, the monster stiffened and became paralyzed. After three seconds, its head erupted, pouring the brain juices and blood onto the onlookers who were stupefied on the ground. The massive body of the giant instantly turned to ashes.

The poor villagers retched from the gut-wrenching spectacles while their bodies reek of pungent smell from bathing in brain fluids and blood. The once isolated yet peaceful village suddenly became a battle arena of different mythical creatures.

On that day, Haru witnessed the true colors of the three great Kings. She discovered that behind their gentle smile and warmth, lies savagery like no other.

However, she would soon realize that what she had just seen was merely the tip of the iceberg.

Adis jumped down from his flying dragon and effortlessly landed on the ground. He ran towards her and she instinctively stood up to meet him halfway.

But, steps away from her devil, her pupils suddenly dilated and golden sparkles appeared on her irises, subsequently making her amber orbs to illuminate.

Different visions unexpectedly flashed right before her eyes; A scene of Adis kissing a blond woman. Then it changed to her, holding a dagger in her hand and unceremoniously thrust the blade into Adis' c.h.e.s.t. And lastly, a cold beauty with blue eyes was crying while at her feet laid the stiff bodies of her children.

Her knees buckled after the multiple visions and she almost collapsed to the ground if not for the quick reflex of Adis' strong arms.

"Haru, what happened? Haru, can you hear me? Please don't scare me like this." Adis immediately enveloped her in his embrace and gently tapped her cheek to wake her up from her nightmarish stupor.

The other two kings panicked and gathered around her as they joined their brother on calling out her name.

However, she had already lost her consciousness with her eyes wide open and tears uncontrollably falling on her cheeks.
