Raised by Monster Royalty
Chapter 3.2
Children’s Story (2)
Mu Le grabbed hold of that finger.
Gu Mingyuan followed suit, holding her hand and then enclosing her entire small hand in his palm.
“Do not teach someone else’s pet bad habits,” Gu Mingyuan said expressionlessly to Kong He’an. “If you must teach her, I hope you teach her to refuse anyone other than her owner.”
Kong He’an withdrew his hand and complained, “You control freak.”
Ignoring his comment, Gu Mingyuan asked, “Do you know what to pay attention to when raising humans?”
“Who knows,” Kong He’an stood up. “The last time someone raised this kind of creature was at least three hundred years ago!”
He had come just to satisfy his curiosity, and now he was leaving.
After Kong He’an, the chattering man, left, the room returned to calmness.
Mu Le had no idea why he was here. She only thought that the person with an indistinguishable gender had a stunning face. The concept of a male peacock was too intriguing! If it weren’t for the fierce appearance of the man with dragon horns in front of her, she would have imagined a romantic relationship between the male peacock spirit and the fierce dragon male.
Unfortunately, from what she had observed so far, if the peacock spirit was the partner of the man in front of her, their outcome would definitely be a bad ending. Either the man would be infuriated to death by the peacock spirit, or the peacock spirit would be cut down by the man.
After the peacock spirit left, the man still held her hand and looked at her face, lost in thought.
That day, Gu Mingyuan didn’t touch any of the books on the bookshelf.
He only slightly shortened the length of the chain, preventing Mu Le from reaching his desk.
Then he went to finish the half-done bath.
After finishing the bath, it was already late.
Gu Mingyuan glanced at the small bowl in front of Mu Le and saw that the boiled egg was still inside. He furrowed his brow, sat on the edge of the bed, wiped the water off his hair, and opened his smart device to message the veterinarian he knew.
The veterinarian told him that it was normal for pets to not eat when they first arrived in a new home and needed time to adjust. Just be patient.
Gu Mingyuan then instructed his household robot to bring a bowl of water for Mu Le.
This time, Mu Le did not refuse.
Firstly, she realized that this fierce man might really be treating her as a pet. Secondly, if the man wanted her dead, she would have died a hundred times already. It wouldn’t make sense for him to harm her in such a roundabout way.
Most importantly, she was really thirsty.
Mu Le held the small bowl given by the robot and squatted in the corner, drinking water obediently.
Gu Mingyuan was surprised to find that his pet was not lying on the ground but actually holding the bowl to drink water. It reminded him of earlier when she held the boiled egg, making a motion of wanting to eat.
Gu Mingyuan: “…Human, are you an intelligent being?”
Mu Le blinked at him with a blank expression.
Gu Mingyuan inwardly laughed at himself for foolishly attempting to have a conversation with a pet—see, humans simply couldn’t understand what he was saying.
However, maybe Kong He’an was right. Humans were indeed intelligent beings.
He opened the interface of the household robot and conducted several searches using different keywords. Finally, he found some children’s books that his cousin had used when he was younger, tucked away in a hidden place at home.
The little robot brought the children’s books over.
Physical books were rare nowadays and mostly kept for collection purposes. Most children’s books were directly downloaded into smart devices, or some were made into interactive devices.
Gu Mingyuan opened the device.
While Mu Le was still drinking water in small sips, she saw the fierce man walking towards her and placing a small device with a projected screen in front of her.
The screen displayed two cartoon figures of children. One had a pair of antlers on its head, while the other had a pair of ears standing upright.
Mu Le: “…”
The two cartoon characters chattered for a while, and then four objects appeared on the screen: a pot, a hamburger, a cup of water, and a box.
The two cartoon characters repeated a certain word.
Mu Le: “…” She seemed to understand what it meant.
Mu Le tentatively tapped on the pot. Soon, a red “X” appeared on the screen, and the expressions of the two cartoon children turned displeased as they shook their heads together.
Mu Le tried two more times and finally figured out that the word referred to the hamburger.
The two children clapped happily, and Mu Le guessed they were saying something like “Congratulations, you got it right.”
She silently memorized the pronunciation.
Gu Mingyuan didn’t think much of it. He had only heard from the veterinarian that he should find a toy for the pet to help her relax and not be so tense.
Seeing Mu Le “having fun” with the children’s book, he went to sleep feeling reassured.
Gu Mingyuan could never have anticipated what would unfold next.
He slept until the middle of the night, probably around 3 a.m.
He heard some rustling sounds near the bed.
Gu Mingyuan turned on the light and sat up.
He saw the human child, one foot being pulled by the chain, struggling to reach out and pull his bedsheet while lying on the ground.
Upon seeing him awake, the human child looked very happy. She withdrew her hand and stood up, glancing at him with a hint of shyness.
She slowly and unskillfully uttered, one word at a time:
“Toilet.”
Gu Mingyuan: “…?”
“Toilet,” Mu Le repeated.
Gu Mingyuan’s small robot automatically refills water. She was both hungry and thirsty, and she drank several bowls in a row.
She really needed to use the bathroom.
