Re: Apocalypse Game

121 Final Battle

[04:00]

Darkness still shrouded the battlefield as all the players prepared to advance from their assigned positions. Despite the reduced numbers of Nazi troops, it remained crucial to initiate the march in unison. This strategy ensured that the enemy's resistance would be evenly spread across the town's outskirts.

However, amid the disciplined ranks of the US army, a few opportunistic players couldn't resist the urge to charge ahead prematurely. Their goal was to gain an advantage by accumulating more kills, subsequently earning extra XP and points. Nevertheless, the US military, serving as the backbone of the operation, adhered strictly to the predetermined schedule and battle plan.

The Delta company, consisting of 200 soldiers, accompanied by five militia groups comprising over 500 members, was tasked with breaching three heavily guarded Nazi barricades. Each of these barriers was fortified with approximately 200 enemy soldiers. Lieutenant Marsh assumed command of his troops, leading them toward the most heavily defended central barricade. Meanwhile, the militia groups were directed to assault the two flanking barricades.

"Attack!" Lieutenant Marsh's command rang out, marking the commencement of the operation.

With a firm grasp of the area's layout, the group of 500 moved with confidence, swiftly sweeping through the buildings to secure cover while launching an assault on the Nazi barricades. The sound of gunfire and explosions erupted, marking the arrival of dawn in Calumet City.

In this chaos, Alan led his militia and embarked on a daring expedition with their convoy of five vehicles. The armored vehicle took point, its mounted gun blazing a path, while the four vans followed closely, and the massive fire truck brought up the rear.

Their calculated move led them to circle around the western side of the town, strategically unsettling hundreds of Nazi soldiers who had intended to reinforce the front barricades. Alan's diversion was a crucial element of the broader assault, intended to disrupt the enemy's attempts to reinforce their defenses at the town's center.

Alan made the tactical decision to halt their vehicles, arranging them in a circular formation that effectively created a makeshift barricade. This strategic positioning took advantage of two main junctions leading to a bridge that further penetrated the town. It provided them with a strong vantage point for both offense and defense.

With unwavering determination, Alan issued his orders to the Wolverines who surrounded the vehicles, their numbers now significantly outnumbered by the encroaching Nazi forces. "Alright, aim your shots! Take your time to hit your targets, and conserve your ammunition!" he commanded.

Under the protective cover of their vehicles and with a well-supplied stash of medical gauze, the 60 Wolverines fought tenaciously. Their coordinated efforts allowed them to hold their ground for a while, inflicting considerable casualties on the enemy forces.

However, Alan remained vigilant, scanning their surroundings for any signs of enemy snipers or RPG soldiers who might attempt to breach their makeshift barricades. Fortunately, he had both Rose and Merle assigned to the task of counter-sniping and RPG defense. Meanwhile, Vicky gleefully manned the mounted gun, using it to devastating effect against the incoming wave of Nazi soldiers.

"Die! Die! You Nazi scum!" she shouted with fierce determination, her mounted weapon serving as a thunderous chorus to their ongoing battle.

The Wolverines' strategic plan was to maintain their position until the main Delta army and the various militia groups had successfully cleared the outer part of the town. Only then would they converge on the inner city together.

Just as they anticipated the arrival of the Delta company and their fellow militia members, they were met with an unexpected sight—the Nazi's primary reinforcement. These troops approached from various directions: some from the north, some from the south, and a significant force from the other side of the river, attempting to cross a steel bridge that led toward Alan's position.

"Hold them, keep firing!" Alan bellowed, determined to hold their ground against the fresh onslaught of Nazi soldiers.

However, amidst the chaos and intensity of battle, Vicky's voice cut through the fray, filled with frustration.

"Alan! Ammo's out! Do we have any more .50 cal rounds?"

Receiving a negative response, Vicky's frustration was palpable as she faced a seemingly endless tide of Nazi soldiers on the bridge. They were steadily gathering and attempting to climb over the fire truck, posing a serious threat.

But Alan had a cunning plan up his sleeve. Climbing atop the heavy fire truck, he secured a water hose to his arm and summoned Kenny to turn it on. Instantly, a torrent of liquid burst forth, dousing the horde of Nazis on the bridge. However, it wasn't water—It was petrol that Alan had prepared before the battle.

With a chilling grin, Alan watched as horror swept over the faces of the trapped Nazi soldiers. With a flick of his lighter, he ignited the bridge, setting the soldiers ablaze in a fiery inferno. The horrific spectacle unfolded before him, a grim testament to the brutal reality of the battlefield.

The [Pyromaniac title] had become one of Alan's go-to tactics, and its effectiveness was evident in the fiery chaos that unfolded before him. Flames danced as the sea of Nazis found themselves engulfed by the unexpected inferno.

However, the fiery onslaught lasted for only a brief minute before the tables turned dramatically. The fire that had been their weapon of choice quickly backfired, spreading to the fire truck itself.

"Get back! Get back!" Alan shouted urgently, realizing the impending danger as the fire truck was engulfed in a massive explosion. The blast created a chaotic path through the bridge, and as the smoke gradually cleared, an enemy armored vehicle rolled onto the scene, accompanied by a menacing tank.

"Take cover! Take cover!" Alan swiftly commanded, his voice a mix of urgency and determination, as the tank's cannon began to unleash destructive firepower upon their makeshift barricades. Hundreds of Nazi soldiers surged across the bridge, closing in on their position, while Alan's team sought refuge within the nearby buildings.

With the situation rapidly evolving and the enemy's overwhelming firepower bearing down on them, Alan knew that quick decisions were paramount.
