Rebellious Wife Of President Wang

Chapter 242 - I'm sorry. I should've told you sooner

"Aunt Wang Ju is not dead yet."

Wang Kai's declaration felt like a bomb in Xiao Ni's head. She widened her eyes. Got up and standing away from Wang Kai is the first response she gave.

"That is not funny," Xiao Ni's smiles were sour.

People shouldn't joke about a dead person. That is just too wrong on so many levels.

"I'm not joking with you. Aunt Wang Ju is still alive. She lives in London right now. She had some health issues but recuperating significantly," Wang Kai added with a solemn face.

Xiao Ni and Wang Kai stared at each other. Both are waiting for each other to move or say something, but no one does. Xiao Ni stands there, near the coffee table, looking stupified.

Her eyelashes slowly quivered as she felt her heat all over her sensory organs. Her knee turned into jelly. She falls on the ground as if she got paralyzed.

"Xiao Ni!" Wang Kai acted fast and caught her before she falls to the ground. He carried her up to the bed and made her seat on the corner.

"Aunt Wang Ju is still alive?" Xiao Ni asked again, with trembling voices this time.

Xiao Ni felt like crying. But she had shed too many tears today that she could not seems to cry anymore. She bites her lower lips, trying to surpass the indescribable feeling inside that revolted to get out from its hiding place.

"Yes, she is alive," Wang Kai answer as he pulled Xiao Ni into his embrace. He could felt Xiao Ni's body trembling greatly under his hug. Once again, his heart breaks for Xiao Ni. As if another batch of the knife had stabbed his heart all over again.

"I'm sorry. I should've told you sooner."

Wang Kai apologized without even realizing tears fall down his cheek. Xiao Ni's body becomes tense when she felt something wet on her shoulder. She seems to stop breathing at that second.

"I'm sorry. I should've told you sooner."

Wang Kai whispered his apology over and over again as fear starts creeping into his heart. He could imagine more than a hundred bad outcomes as he waited for Xiao Ni to reacted.

And he knew that he should be ready for them.

After all, he brings all the misery that Xiao Ni had to experience today.

How could he let those things happen to his dear wife, to him, to their marriage?

Wang Kai knew he deserves everything from that terrifying possibilities. But could he act selfishly again and beg her not to leave him?

He wanted Xiao Ni to forgive him. But he had not courage and face to ask her right now. So instead of facing his fear, he hides away behind his apology.

"I'm sorry. I should've told you sooner," Wang Kai repeated.

Xiao Ni is silent. She let Wang Kai hugged her close to his c.h.e.s.t.

His heartbeat becomes a piece of calming music for her.

Slowly, Wang Kai felt Xiao Ni's moves. He could feel her shook her head slighly. He looked down and found Xiao Ni is looking up at him. Glass of tears covered her beautiful eyes. Wang Kai could find a trace of confusion there, but not anger.

Instead, she looks genuinely relieved and happy.

"It's a relief that she is alive. It's a relief," Xiao Ni murmured, curling her lips into a smile.

Every time the guilty feeling started to creep into her heart, she hopes that she could exchange her life with aunt Wang Ju.

But she knew she couldn't do that.

Aunt Wang Ju is dead, and Xiao Ni could not change that fate.

But she is not dead! She is alive!

Guan Xiao Ni is not a sinful murder who killed her husband's aunty.

Her heart suddenly felt light right now. As if all those burdens that she carries vanished into thin air. She finally could love Wang Kai properly. Without feeling guilty.

"Brother Wang, I'm so relieved she is alive. Everything is going to be alright now. Everything is going to be alright," Xiao Ni mumbles. The tears in her eyes finally dropped as she snuggles into Wang Kai's warm embrace again.

Wang Kai seems to be tense for a moment, but then his shoulder gradually got relaxed. He used his arm to brush Xiao Ni's back dotingly as he kissed the top of her head.

"Yes, everything is going to be alright now," Wang Kai whispered as he nuzzled his perfect jaw against Xiao Ni's silky hair. Silly smiles appear on his face.

All those bad and horrible possibilities on his head vanished into thin air as soon as he saw Xiao Ni's smiles.

He felt like an idiot upon hearing Xiao Ni's answer.

It's is why he sometimes felt unworthy of her.

It's because Xiao Ni is like a bright angel filled with positivities while he focuses on the negativity.

He often forgets to be grateful, while she always finds one saving grace to keep her smiles.

"Guan Xiao Ni, you are-" Wang Kai spoke in a hoarse voice, unable to finish his sentence because Xiao Ni suddenly scoots away from her.

"Wait! If I didn't tell you about regaining my memories, you would never tell me about these matters too?" Xiao Ni furrowed her eyebrow. She is suddenly infuriated after she ponders about this matter.

"Well, Doctor said not you are not stable. We tried not to trigger your bad memories. Aunt Wang Ju played a big part in that. By the way, the water is ready now. Do you-"

"Don't try to change the topic!"

Wang Kai watched Xiao Ni's fast change of emotion with amus.e.m.e.nt on his gaze. He bite his lower lips to stop the unstoppable smiles that bloom on his face.

"Shouldn't husband and wife keep no secret from each other?" Xiao Ni complained, trying to show her anger. But no matter what she said, she appears cute and adorable in Wang Kai's eyes. So instead of an apology that she expected, Wang Kai squeezes her cheek instead.

"Guan Xiao Ni, why are you so cute? Huh?" he posed a question outside of the topic. But then his mischievous smiles turned into soft smiles.

"Being honest is the best policy. But we need to look at the circ.u.mstances too. Sometimes it's not I want to keep secret from you, but some things are better left unspoken. I am not wise or always right, but I did my best to protect you with all my might," Wang Kai answered thoughtfully.

"Does that meant you are still going to keep a secret from me in the future?" Xiao Ni pouted upon hearing Wang Kai's answer. His answer did not give her satisfaction at all.

"If it's for the better, then yes."

Xiao Ni: "..."

"Well, I guess that makes some sense," Xiao Ni mumbles and gives in to Wang Kai.

"Okay. Now can we clean ourselves and enjoy the night? Let's watch that boring movie again," Wang Kai said.

Xiao Ni is surprised when her body drowned in water. Her eyes travel to Wang Kai on her side. His eyes are bright with glee. Xiao Ni's dropped her smiles, and slowly her expression turned into worry.

Damn! She told Wang Kai that her aunt is- he dropped her into this tub with no worries. Does that mean she got exposed already? But how?

"Hehehe, I did not mean to keep secret for you-" she forces a sweet smile, hoping that she did not offend Wang Kai too much. Dimples indent on her cheek as she slowly drowns half of her head inside the water. She created bubbles on the calm water along the way.

Wang Kai watched her guilty eyes with a raised eyebrow. He remains standing on the side, observing her every movement of guilt.

"Guan Xiao Ni, did you take me as a fool?" He smiles as he tilted his head.

"How do you find out?" Xiao Ni raised from the water and pouted at Wang Kai.

"You did not even go to the restroom once from the flight to the resort. Do you think I am that stupid?"

"You!" Xiao Ni glare at Wang Kai. But as soon as she realized she is in great danger, she hides inside the water again.
