Operating systems and chips have always been inseparable from each other.

Any chip architecture system has a relative operating system to provide software ecological support for it.

The fourth is the risc-v architecture, which is also a streamlined instruction set. Its developer is the University of California at Berkeley, which is also affiliated with the United States.

The risc-v architecture itself, like the Linux system kernel, is completely open source, and any individual or organization can modify it on its basis, including commercial applications.

In view of the US ban, several major operating systems and chip architectures are reluctant to open authorization to Dragon Country, or to stop authorization at any time, leading to a stuck neck situation at any time.

One of Longguo’s previous solutions was to develop a domestic system based on the linux kernel and a domestic chip with mips and risc-v chip architecture to replace the “lack of core and less soul” dilemma.

At present, several domestic system manufacturers in China, including the “spare tire” Hongmeng system developed by Warwick, all use the Linux kernel.

In the fields of mobile chips, Internet of Things, automotive chips, etc., risc-v has become the best choice to replace the aim architecture.

The Honey Badger Semiconductor invested by Alibaba focuses on the risc-v field and recently released a chip to the market.

Many automotive chip manufacturers have also begun to develop and design chips with risc-v architecture.

However, in the field of computer chips, several domestic chip manufacturers have their own choices.

There is a manufacturer based on the x86 architecture, but the way it obtains the x86 architecture authorization is more complicated, which is “borrowed” and will face the predicament of Intel withdrawing the authorization at any time.

Moreover, the company’s internal situation is more complicated, not to mention it.

Shenwei uses the alpha architecture of the American dec company, and the products currently developed are applied to the domestic supercomputer Taihuzhiguang.

Fei Teng’s development process is rather chaotic. The mips architecture was adopted in the early stage, then the alpha architecture was developed, and finally moved to the aim architecture. Its products are also mainly supplied to domestic supercomputers.

For the PC market, Longxin chose the now declining mips chip architecture. Several finished chips have been introduced before, but they have not been promoted.

One is because of insufficient performance, the other is because of low output and expensive, and the third is because there is no software ecosystem support.

Although mips has fallen, Longxin’s attempt to acquire mips has not been approved by the United States. After ten years of persistence, Longxin is also preparing to abandon mips and embark on a road of self-developed chip architecture from scratch.

In particular, the entire Dragon Country semiconductor industry is targeting the rsic-v architecture. If the United States still ignores any opinions and forcibly order or control rsic-v and prohibit Dragon Country’s use, then Dragon Country’s chip industry will suffer again. A huge setback!
