Rebirth In KurokoNoBasket

Chapter 71 - Meeting, Part 4

Shun didn't change from his decision of playing on areas that Aomine excelled in, but after Aomine's first score, Shun did increase the level of his effort by one level.

It was Shun's turn to attack, and he wanted to go with something quick and unexpected, and he had just the thing in mind.

Shun made space between his legs and started to dribble between them. Aomine got ready for a crossover or a drive to the basket.

Shun glanced to the left and then looked right into Aomine's eyes.

At that moment, a few possibilities went through Aomine's mind.

Aomine: 'Is he going to the left or is that fake glance, and he is going to the left. How will he get past me; simple speed, crossover, or a spin move.'

Just as Aomine was thinking about the possibilities, Shun made his move.

He held the ball in his right hand, and without any fakes or any dribble, he took a jump shot.

Aomine, who was thinking about a complicated move set, was a beat slower for the contest.

Aomine: "Oh, Shit!"

The ball traveled a beautiful arc and landed into the net without any contact with the rim.

If this was an official game everybody in the stands, coaches, the bench would think that taking a jump shot was a poor decision and the shot was a fluke, but Shun had not made a single shot without a dribble to make some space in the game against Kise or Aomine, so he knew that a straight-out shoot would be the last thing on Aomine's mind.

Shun grinned at Aomine's surprised face and spoke.

Shun: "Simple is the best. You thought that I would do something complicated, weren't you?"

-*-*-*-*-*-*-

It was Aomine's turn to attack, and Shun was going to make sure that Aomine wouldn't pass him.

Aomine started by doing a series of complicated dribble moves.

Kise was watching Aomine's moves.

Kise: "Aomine-cchi's moves are so cool."

Kuroko nodded as he looked at Aomine's smooth ball-handling.

But on Shun's side, he was not moving at all. His eyes were following the ball.

He was confident in his reflexes. Shun knew that if he chose the right timing, he would be able to tip the ball from Aomine's hands.

Shun saw that Aomine's hand was in a slightly different position than the position before, so he decided to go for it. As soon as the ball reached Aomine's hand, Shun felt a jolt, and he speared his hand towards the ball.

Aomine was going to move past Shun, but the moment he got ready, Shun tipped the ball of his hand.

Aomine's eyes shrank as he felt Shun get past him.

Aomine: 'Crap! He tipped the ball at the worst timing!'

He bit his lip and turned to follow Shun.

Aomine: "Get back here. Damn it!"

Shun laughed as he ran towards the basket. He glanced back at Aomine and smiled faintly, as he thought of something.

He threw the ball hard towards the basket, turned back, and ran past Aomine.

Aomine stopped and looked at Shun.

Aomine: "What are you doing?"

He turned to look for the ball and saw it wasn't there, his eyes widened as he spoked.

Aomine: "No way!"

He turned back and saw that the ball was in Shun's hand, and he was already mid-air for a jump shot.

Shun had thrown the ball hard at the backboard so it would bounce back, and when it did, he was there to catch it.

Shun laughed as he shot the ball. Shun didn't even look if the ball made it into the basket or not and spoke to Aomine

Shun: "I did say simple is the best, but sometimes you need to spazz things up a bit."

Satsuki and Kuroko laughed and smiled as they looked at Aomine's open mouth and Kise's similar dropped jaw.

Kise: "What is with this person. What is he doing?!"

-*-*-*-*-*-*-

After that, Shun continued to score on, and block Aomine.

Aomine was able to get in one more point when he drew a foul from Shun and made a free-throw.

The game ended with a score of 11-2 in Shun's favor.

At the end of the game, Kuroko and Satsuki joined them as they played around on the court.

After playing for a while, Satsuki suggested that they go to eat some crepes. All of them went to a great crepe place and ate a mid-day snack.

Shun needed to get some groceries, so they separated.

Kuroko saw that Aomine and Kise were silent and asked.

Kuroko: "Aomine-kun, Kise-kun what happened?"

Kise looked at Kuroko and replied.

Kise: "The difference between Kageyama-cchi and I was too much. I thought that meeting him would give me a new outlook, but I wasn't able to get one thing out of it.

He was too good for me to understand a thing. It was like he was doing something that I couldn't see.

I saw his moves, not all of them were difficult, but it was like he was doing something more with them that I couldn't register."

Aomine sighed and spoke.

Aomine: "I could see that he was holding back. He wasn't moving as fast or as sharply as I thought he could."

Satsuki looked at the boys and said.

Satsuki: "It wasn't just about if he was going it his all or not. He was alone."

The others looked at Satsuki, and Kuroko questioned.

Kuroko: "What do you mean, he was alone?"

Satsuki explained.

Satsuki: "Last year, he played as a small forward, but from time to time, he played as a point guard.

Shun-kun has a skill that helps him steal passed in the second half. He would turn those turnover into scores.

This year he is playing as a point guard. Passing is his bread and butter. With his teammates on the court on him, he could use fake passes to fake you out. Think about the plays he could make from the pass steals.

Shun-kun brings out more from his teammates, the same way Shun-kun uses his teammates to bring out more from him.

He may not be at Akashi-kun's level in his passes and playmaking, but he is still in a league of his own.

As long as he stays on the court, Tokiwadai moves to the top runners in the country.

Statistically speaking, in the first half, Tokiwadai is one of the best scoring teams in the country, but when they enter the second half, they transform into a team that is a class apart from the competition.

They literally move beyond the scene, and there is one more thing."

Kise looked surprised as he asked.

Kise: "There is still more?!"

Satsuki nodded and continued.

Satsuki: "Last year, Tokiwadai's team wasn't built around Shun-kun. He joined a team that was already in works, but this year the team will be built around him. The players will train skills that would facilitate, that would help the team at Shun-kun as its core."

The three players from Teiko were feeling the threat that loomed over them in the form of a Shun's leaded Tokiwadai.

They determined themselves to train harder, so when the storm came, they were ready.

Currently, Tokiwadai was the most dangerous team in the country with Shun on the team, but in a few months, another team would rise to strike a fight for dominance, as others could only watch from down below not able to do anything.
