Rebirth In KurokoNoBasket

Chapter 9 - Day 2, Teiko's Performance

Shun left his house for school in a good mood. He was happy with his performance from yesterday, and he was looking forward to watching Teiko's tape.

Shun: *Sigh*. "Still, I would have to wait till after dinner today to watch the video. Man, I hope this day ends quickly."

Tokiwadai was famous for its high standards in sports, but it also had a high standard for academics. The staff in the school was experienced and helped students to achieve more.

Tokiwadai's school uniform consisted of a white shirt and grey pants, in winters, there was the option for a deep blue blazer or a sweater.

Shun's school day was the same as always, hanging out with friends between classes, studying seriously, taking notes, etc.

Shun was popular in school; he was tall, good looking, smart, talked politely to everyone, and helped around when needed.

While Shun was popular in school, he made sure not to take any responsibilities. He knew that there was no gain in those, and he didn't have time for other duties. Shun liked to be free, concentrate on basketball, and his school life.

Shun: 'There is no time like school days.'

Tokiwadai's basketball club had two identical gyms under them, both gyms had three courts along the width of the court, and one main one along the length.

The only difference was the gym used by second and third-string had markings for volleyball as well, and if the basketball club was not practicing, the volleyball club could practice there.

The gym used by first-string only had markings for basketball, there used to be similar markings years ago, but as the popularity of the basketball club increased, the school removed the markings.

Shun entered the court he felt at peace, he liked to spend time on the court.

To most people, a basketball court wouldn't be the ideal place to relax or be content. There's usually a cacophony of noises occurring around the court, and people are always in danger of getting hit by the ball if they are not paying attention. But to Shun, he enjoyed it. Shun enjoys hearing the basketball bounce repeatedly, the squeaking of shoes, the sound the net makes when the ball goes through it as well as the disappointing clank of the rim when someone misses. He also enjoys the constant yelling and talking going on around him as he either plays or spectates.

The only other place that gave him the same feeling the dining table at his home during mealtime.

Shun with a smile, announced his arrival with a greeting and looked forward to another day of practice, and improvement.

At the end of the practice, Mibuchi handed him a CD.

Mibuchi: "Shun, here is the copy of Teiko's game you requested."

Shun: "Thank you, senpai."

Mibuchi: "Do you think Teiko this year is strong with most of their team and bench full of first-year."

Shun: "Teiko has been our rivals for many years, and they take basketball as seriously as we do, so I don't think they will just put in first-years if they don't deserve to be on the team. As for how good they are, the coach told us that they won by a larger margin than ours."

Shun left Mibuchi, who had a thoughtful expression on his face.

After dinner at Kageyama household, Shun sat in front of his computer and booted up the Teiko's video. After watching it once, he paused it for a while and thought about what he saw for a while.

Shun: 'Generation of Miracles even if they have not bloomed yet they still are skilled players, and more importantly because they have not developed, they still work together as a team. With Akashi and Kuroko handling the passing, I don't there is a team in the country with better teamwork than Teiko's.'

Shun: 'The main problem here is Akashi Seijūrō. The current Akashi is the 'True' Akashi, and the 'Other' Akashi is still sleeping in the confines of his mind.'

'True' and 'Other' are the two parts that made up Akashi Seijūrō.

The 'True' personality had the perfect vision for passing, could bring out the best of his teammates and was a team player. Shun would compare him to a skilled conductor who could help an Orc.h.e.s.tra produce divine melodies.

The 'Other' personality had the Emperor's Eye, which could see the future of his opponent in front of him. He had much stronger personal skills than 'True' personality, but he lost the perfect vision for passing. He was like a strong dictator but a dictator none the less.

Shun: 'If I could choose, I would choose to go against the 'Other' personality at any time of the day. His Emperor Eye would still be able to see my 'future', but that future would be useless. God-Speed Impulse allows me to change that future before Akashi could use that future.'

Shun's current court vision was equivalent to the vision granted by Eagle-Eye, and he knew that if he kept working hard, he would obtain the perfect vision like 'True' Akashi by the time he entered high school.

Shun: 'But that doesn't mean that I will lose to Akashi in playmaking, with Perfect Copy I know my teammates better than they know themselves and with God-Speed Impulse, I could react to any much faster than Akashi. It just means that I would have to restrict my playmaking to the small part of the court that I can see.'

Shun: *Sigh*. "'True' Akashi becomes an even bigger problem when you give him people like other miracles to play with."

'True' Akashi was able to draw out max potential from his teammates, but what would happen if the people from he drew had limitless potential.

[A/N: Now, some of you might think that this is an attempt to nerf Shun, but it is not. Shun's talent still hasn't 'bloomed', as he is now, he can be classified as the best player in the middle school scene, but that is it. He still is in the confines of the middle school level. He would break through that confine next year.
