Rebirth In KurokoNoBasket

As in every class, there were cliques in Shun's class. There were the popular ones, studious (nerds) ones, otakus, loners, and any other cliques that you could think of it.

Shun was an anomaly in the class, he didn't hang out with the popular group, he didn't hang out with the nerds even though his marks were top of the class, he didn't spend time with otakus even when Shun liked anime, mangas, light novels, web novels, fanfictions.

Shun's group of four friends was a little unique.

Inuzuka got into fights, and because of that, it took people a lot of time to actually know Inuzuka and become friendly with him. Inuzuka's intimidating behavior also didn't help.

Inuzuka either hung-out with Shun and the guys, or he hung out with people in the Kendo Club.

Hikigaya was a classic loner and introvert person. It took Shun a lot of time to get him out of his shell.

The people in the class couldn't understand why Shun spend so much time on Hikigaya.

Hikigaya was awkward when communicating with others, and Shun understood that, and that made Hikigaya trust Shun and become his friend.

And at last, there was Shikamura. He didn't have any problems with communicating or making friends, but he didn't approach anyone, Shun was the one who approached him, and they became friends.

And with Shun at the center, they also became friends with each other, and that birthed the group.

Shun was talking with some people in the class.

It was when Shikamaru called him for something.

Shikamaru: "Kageyama, come here."

Shun waved goodbye to the people and headed to Shikamaru.

He sat in the seat in front of Shikamura and said.

Shun: "Yeah, what's up."

Shikamaru looked at Shun and asked.

Shikamaru: "You're not going to your club today, right?"

Shun nodded and replied.

Shun: "Nope, we have two games tomorrow, so there is no practice today. I am free to do anything today, Why, do you need anything?"

Shikamaru nodded and explained his situation.

Shikamaru: "The new student council president caught me violating the rules of the school a lot of times recently, I was able to talk my way out of any punishment until now.

But this time the president didn't listen to me one bit, and ordered me to come to the student council room after school to help out with council work as the punishment."

Shun shifted in his seat as Shikamaru had caught his full attention in this matter.

Shun: "So, what did you do?"

Shikamaru looked at Shun and said.

Shikamaru: "Why are you getting excited, I am in trouble, you know?"

Shun smiled and nodded.

Shun: "I know."

Shikamaru sighed and continued.

Shikamaru: "It was nothing major, uniform faults, coming to school late, sleeping on the roof, and maybe I ran when they caught me."

Shun wide-eyed asked.

Shun: "You ran! You, the lazy sloth, ran! You, the ever-wise, ran from authorities!"

Shun laughed and slapped his hand on the desk.

Shikamaru covered his face with his hands and said.

Shikamaru: "I don't know what came over me. I just up and left when they called after me. If I had stayed there, then I would've been able to talk my way out."

Shun was now rolling on the floor while laughing.

Shikamaru grumbled and asked.

Shikamaru: "I want you to come with me and help."

Shun sat back on the chair and questioned.

Shun: "Sure, I will come and help, but why do you want me to go."

Shikamaru looked at Shun and gave his reasoning.

Shikamaru: "Kageyama, you are the model student. You get excellent grades, you come to school on time, you dress properly, your behavior is all within acceptable norms, and you represent the school in basketball tournaments. If I take you with me, then that would show that I have a positive company around me, and the president would lighten the punishment when I get caught next time."

Shun nodded and pointed out.

Shun: "That good and all, but you can just not make the mistakes that get you in trouble, you know."

Shikamaru slumped onto his desk and muttered.

Shikamaru: "It's such a drag."

Shun laughed at his friend's antics, and thus it was decided that Shun would accompany Shikamaru to the student council room after school.

Shun and Shikamaru were walking to the student council room.

Shun stopped in front of the washroom and said.

Shun: "Wait a minute."

Then Shun looked at Shikamaru and pulled him inside.

Shun: "You come inside too."

Shikamaru asked as he was pulled inside.

Shikamaru: "Eh, but I don't want to do anything."

Shun stood in front of the mirrors in the washroom.

Shun: "I too don't want to do anything, but you and I need to fix our clothes, we are going to the most strict place in the school, no way I am going to go there and give them a chance to point out mistakes.

Now, hurry up and fix your uniform."

Shikamaru sighed lazily and said.

Shikamaru: "What a drag."

Shun and Shikamaru fixed their uniform.

Shun retucked his shirt properly, fixed his tie, retied his shoes, pulled up his pants, buttoned the top button of his shirt, and then he was ready.

Shikamaru also did a decent job of fixing his uniform. Now he looked acceptable to the strictest of the eyes.

Shun: "Let's go."

Shikamaru and Shun continued to walk to the student council room.

Shun recalled what he knew about the student council president.

Shun: "Hmm... the president is a second-year like us."

Shikamaru nodded and said.

Shikamaru: "The president joined the student council in first-year and became the vice-president."

Shun smiled and said.

Shun: "I voted for the president in the election, the speech that the president gave was very powerful."

Shikamaru commented on that.

Shikamaru: "If you hadn't done that, today I might not have been in trouble."

Shun chuckled and said.

Shun: "We are here."

Shikamaru stepped forward and knocked on the door.

A voice came from inside the room.

???: "Who is it?"

Shikamaru: "Nara Shikamaru."

The voice inside the room replied.

???: "Ah, come in."

Shikamaru and Shun stepped inside the room.

Shun looked at the esteemed student council president.

Karura Temari, second-year, was the student council president who had won the elections in a landslide.

[A/N: Temari is from the Naruto series, but she didn't have a surname before her marriage to Shikamaru, so I am using her mother's name as her surname.]

President Temari was a prudent, stoic, and blunt individual who was rarely afraid to speak her mind. She has excellent grades and was originally part of the Aikido club.

Temari looked towards the door, she was expecting Shikamaru to come alone, so when she saw another person, she was surprised.

She looked at the other person and recognized the other person.

Temari: "Kageyama Shun, what brings you here today?"

Shun was famous all around the school, so it wasn't unusual for the president to know Shun's name.

Shun smiled and replied.

Shun: "Good evening president, I am just accompanying Shikamaru here, he said that the student council is short on hands, so I decided to come and help out here."

Shun was laying it thick, he had just pushed all the credit to Shikamaru.

Shikamaru, who had his hands behind his back, showed a thumbs-up.

Temari looked at Shikamaru with a peculiar look and then turned back to Shun.

Temari: "Is that so. Well, extra help is always welcomed, but are you sure that you want to be here, isn't their preliminaries scheduled for tomorrow, don't you have preparations to do."

Temari was good at Aikido and was a member of the Aikido Club, and as the president, she knew about the happenings in the school, so she knew about tournaments and what the day before a match represented.

Shun nodded and waved his hand.

Shun: "It's fine, we have an off day today, and I would rather focus my mind somewhere else, rather than just thinking about the games tomorrow, and do nothing productive."

Temari smiled and said.

Temari: "I see, let's get to work, shall we."

They got to work, Shun decided to make some small talk.

Shun: "So, president, what are the plans for the school fest, and sports day?"

Temari replied while doing her work.

Temari: "The student council is thinking of promoting the school fest on social media and expand our range, we are also thinking of inviting sponsors to amass funds.

We haven't started to think about the sports day, we still have time for that, we want the weather to cool down before we start to organize the event.

We are short on people, so the progress is a little slow."

A bright light bulb appeared above Shun's head, and a devious smirk appeared on his face.

He looked at Shikamaru, and his grin grew.

He turned to Temari and began his plan.

Shun: "Short on people, huh. I might know someone who will be able to help."

Shikamaru, who heard this felt something was wrong. He looked at Shun and found a smirk on his face just before it disappeared from his face.

Shikamaru sat up straight and stared intensely at Shun.

Shikamaru: 'Oye whatever you are thinking, don't do it. Kageyama!'

Shun felt Shikamaru's gaze, but he ignored it.

Temari looked up from her work and asked hopefully.

Temari: "Really, who?"

Shun smiled and pointed.

Shun: "I am talking about Shikamaru Nara, of course."

Temari looked at Shikamaru and asked.

Temari: "Shikamaru-kun?"

Shun nodded and continued.

Shun: "Shikamaru is smart, and I am confident that he would be able to help in organizing an event like that."

Shikamaru tried to interject.

Shikamaru: "Wai-"

But, Shun didn't give him a chance.

Shun: "Shikamaru will definitely be able to make plans, organize meetings, dish out some good ideas. If you give him a chance, he will show that he isn't all that bad."

Shikamaru once again tried to interject.

Shikamaru: "Hey, what-."

Shun kept talking, voicing over Shikamaru.

Shun: "Just before we came here, he invited me so that we could help out, he even tried to recruit many others, but they were busy."

Temari thought about it and concluded that it was a good thing.

Temari: "Hmm... Okay, I will make Shikamaru-kun a part of the planning committee for the school fest."

Shikamaru tried to object.

Shikamaru: "Listen to me-."

Shun once again sabotaged his friend.

Shun: "Good, this way, Shikamaru will be able to resolve all the issues and problems that he made before."

Temari nodded and turned to Shikamaru.

Temari: "Shikamaru-kun, it is decided. Using my decree as the student council president, I am making you a temporary member of the student council, you will help out in the organization of the school fest."

Shikamaru opened and closed his mouth and decided that saying anything now will be useless.

He looked at Shun with a loathsome look.

Shun smiled at his friend and said.

Shun: "Isn't this good, Shikamaru. You will be able to help out."

Shikamaru opened his mouth with difficulty.

Shikamaru: "Yes, it is good."

At the same time, he thought.

Shikamaru: 'I will take my revenge.'

This was the first meeting of many in which Shun had stuck Shikamaru with Temari, and in the future, they would remember this meeting as the meeting that began things between Shikamaru and Temari.
