Rebirth of the Heavenly Empress

Chapter 47: Wooden Board

Chapter 47: Wooden Board

Yi Zhong High School.

Qu Yan bent her head down to take notes for mathematics class, but she side-glanced from time to time.

Su Huiqing leaned against the chair and had her head lowered.

Suddenly, she looked up and directed her black eyes at Qu Yan.

Qu Yan’s heart took a dip, and she stared back in shock.

Su Huiqing calmly placed a knife on the table before tilting her body to take out a blank notebook.

‘Pa!’ She threw it onto Qu Yan’s desk.

“Focus and write on your notes.” She continued to carve something and squinted her eyes. “Copy a set for me, too.”

It was a faint six words.

Her hair flowed down her face; black hair with porcelain-white cheeks contrasted with each other.

She lazily leaned back against the chair as the sun smoothly outlined her contour. She looked nonchalant yet elegant and had a blinding radiance around from her.

It stunned the teacher and even her classmates whenever they looked towards her.

These days, students who sat in front and behind her would cautiously pass two sets of meals over when they ate.

Su Huiqing had a warm attitude towards them. As Qu Yan heard the other students talk about how Su Huiqing treated them warmly, she realized that she was the only one who knew how strong this person’s presence was!

Qu Yan immediately snapped out of her trance and quickly kept the notebook. Because she had to copy two sets of notes, with one of them being Su Huiqing’s, she listened attentively.

School ended in the afternoon.

Yu Xiangyang waited for them downstairs and quickly spotted Su Huiqing amid the crowd.

She carried her school bag and was in her school uniform, her school jacket unzipped as usual. Everyone easily recognized her with that outfit, and not to mention, her squinted black eyes.

“Hold this.” Su Huiqing saw Yu Xiangyang and threw him something.

“What is this?” Yu Xiangyang looked at it and noticed that it was a small wooden board.

Su Huiqing swung her school bag over her shoulders and placed a hand into her pocket. She nonchalantly replied, “For Grandpa Yu.”

‘For grandpa?’

Yu Xiangyang looked at the rosewood and could discern nothing from it, thus he placed it into his pocket without a second thought.

The Yu Residences.

“Dad, to provide medicine for free is no small matter. You can’t just open a free medical hall just because of what Miss Su said. The risk is too huge.” Sitting on the right of Grandpa Yu, Father Yu reasoned with Grandpa Yu and had a serious attitude.

With that, all of the senior executives agreed with Father Yu. “Yes. Old Master Yu, we have to think this matter through. The Yu Family is no longer the family that was once in the International Association. We can collaborate with Su Family, but we have to give the matter of providing medicine for free a further thought.”

Hesitant, Grandpa Yu lowered his eyes and tightly gripped the teacup.

“Grandpa.” Yu Xiangyang, who was still in his Green City High School uniform, walked in at that same moment. “All of you are here.”

When Yu Xiangyang saw the people present, he realized they must have been discussing a serious matter. He immediately proceeded upstairs but remembered something along the way. He descended the stairs and passed a block of wood to his grandpa. “Qingqing wanted me to give this to you.”

With that, he proceeded upstairs.

Grandpa Yu looked at the thing in his hand. “Then we will…”

‘Clang!’

His words stopped midway, and he froze. The teacup in his right hand dropped to the ground.

He had intently stared at the block of wood in his hands before he declared, “We don’t have to study this proposal any longer. We will open a press conference tomorrow and set up a free medical hall.”

The others noticed the sudden change in expression of Old Master Yu and stared at each other.

“What had happened to Old Master Yu?” A middle-aged man furrowed his brows. “I’m afraid that setting up a free medical hall will result in implications since Miss Su did not provide us with a good proposal.”

“I don’t know as well.” Father Yu was deep in thought. “He is becoming more and more strange these few days.”

“Forget it then. Just notify the reporters. I hope this will not bring about a disaster to our Yu Family. The Yu Family cannot withstand any blows…”

An old man stood up and shook his head in disagreement. “Ever since we left the International Association, Old Master Yu became weirder and weirder with each passing day. Not to mention, he is getting closer to that brat…”

In the Yu Family, Old Master Yu’s words were final and no one dared to retaliate against him.

Despite the lack of time, the low-key Yu Family managed to open a press conference where most of the Green City’s famous newspaper societies came.

The Yu Family who had always kept a low profile finally made a huge leap for once.

Even Zhang Mingxi could not help but listen in.

When he heard Old Master Yu announce that they were going to create a health supplement that they would provide to the public for free, Zhang Mingxi almost laughed.

The worried feelings he had the night before disappeared in an instant.

“Old Master Yu.” He called out when he saw Old Master Yu walking out. “Although providing medicine for free is feasible, I have to tell you that working with Su Corporation will be a decision you will regret the most in your life. Providing medicine for free…”

He gave one last scoff and left.

Behind him, Old Master Yu had gone silent for a long while before he chuckled. “Most regretful decision? No, no, no… This is the happiest matter in my life!”

With that, he opened up his fist and revealed a block of wood in his hand.

It was a small and intricate block of rosewood.

It was a purplish-black block of wood and was of classic elegance.

There was a strange circle of scribbles carved on it, and in the middle, there was a large letter.

If anyone was by his side, they would definitely see that the letter was…

‘S!’

Zhang Mingxi returned to the Zhang Residences and saw Shen Anan and the others sitting on the sofa.

“Have you contacted Mr. Kyle?” He looked at Shen Anan while lighting up a cigarette.

Shen Anan shook her head and pursed her lips. “Professor said not to disturb him when he is busy. He will contact us when he is free.”

Hearing that answer, Zhang Mingxi could not help but feel disappointed. The moment he came back yesterday, he contacted Mr. Kyle. However, he could not get in touch with him and he started to regret his decision.

“I told you…” Madam Zhang passed him a cup of tea and continued, “Not to underestimate that little brat from the Su Family. If you just heeded my advice…”

“Mom!” Zhang Mingxi furrowed his brows. “Just because Su Huiqing found people to back her up, it doesn’t mean that she has a reputable position in the corporate world and thus everything will go smoothly. Look at the ridiculous press conference the Yu Family made! That is their reason for collaborating—to seek for death!”

“Brother Mingxi!” Shen Anan suddenly stood up and agitatedly exclaimed, “Professor contacted me!”

“Go upstairs!” Zhang Mingxi’s eyes lit up. He put out the cigarette before proceeding upstairs with Shen Anan.

Seeing him like this, Madam Zhang shook her head and sighed.

Upstairs.

The two of them opened the video chat app and a white room appeared like usual. An old and hoarse voice was heard, and it even had a hint of astonishment. “Xie Zhengyuan went over to Su Family’s side?”

“That is right. The Su Family has the Chu Family’s help, thus we are currently at a disadvantageous position. The stock price of Zhang Corporation fell by a few numbers today,” said Zhang Mingxi and gave a bow.

The figure in the video turned around.

It revealed a face filled with wrinkles, and he seemed old. His eye sockets were deep and his deep blue eyes looked turbid, yet there was a radiance from his eyes that no one dared to meet!

He slowly pulled a smile. “I, Kyle, did not come out for 20 years, and it seems that someone already forgot about me…”
