Ye Cheng closed his eyes, feeling the flow of the surrounding air, any trace of change could be captured, and this is perception. The effect is not very obvious, just a point, but the outcome is to open the perception attribute.

After a long time Ye Cheng found that his senses increased so as his awareness of the surroundings.

This can help him in critical moments in the future or even save his life.

Ye Cheng then found the option to change the game mode, and proceeded to change to the Manual mode.

There are two modes that you can play on in << Legend of Heroes >>, one is the Assisted Mode, and the other is the Manual Mode

For the Assisted Mode, some changes will be made to the capabilities of each and every job, the damage done by their skills and normal attacks will be based on their personal attributes! As for the Manual Mode, the damage from the skills and normal attacks are completely dependent on the player! This mode is closer to reality, and the players can even use whatever abilities they have in real life in the game using this mode

Although the Manual Mode looks better than the Assisted Mode, majority of the players in the game are normal people! If they didn't have any assistance from the system, many of them would struggle to do battle, not to mention causing damage to their enemies.

After waving his dagger around, Ye Cheng realized that it did feel much more natural, unlike before when it constantly felt as though something was inhibiting his movements.

"This game is so realistic!"

For most games, there was a limit on the players' freedom and what they can change or do, but in this game it's just like the real world you can almost change anything or even invent new items or skills depending on your ability.

Veteran gamers or those who had read the introduction had all rushed off to receive quests from NPCs.

Many players began to swarm the outskirts of the village to hunt and kill various kinds of monsters. The horde of players made were like a swarm of locusts, devouring any monster. These sad monsters died miserably, turning into experience points for the players.

After familiarizing with the actions in the game and practicing a few movements, Ye Cheng started his journey in the virtual world.

"I heard that this place dropped an uncommon skill book, not sure if it is true."

"Damn it, Lv 2 monsters experience is so low, if the skill book still does not drop then let's go already."

Walking by a cave, hearing the others talking in the background, Ye Cheng immediately turns around and left. The uncommon book in this cave has already been taken away there is no need to waste his time here.

Ye Cheng shook his head feeling some sense of urgency, he was two days late in entering the game than others.

Ye Cheng didn't want to waste any more time so he was running fast through the forest looking for monsters' groups.

For normal players it was very difficult to fight a group of monsters alone, especially for new players.

Most of the players prefer to form parties with other players when hunting monsters or accepting missions.

But Ye Cheng was confident in his abilities so unless it's Dungeons or missions that required a number of players to complete, he liked to move alone because sometimes parties turn into burden instead of help.

Ye Cheng suddenly stopped, he saw a group of monsters in front of him. They were a group of wild animals that were at Lv 1.

He didn't panic, but went straight into the middle of the group and attacked. Monsters of Lv 1 didn't even need him to make any preparation as he finished them in less than a minute then moved to find the next group.

As Ye Cheng kept moving he had met many monsters' groups the weakest were at Lv 1 while the strongest were Lv 3 but not even a single monster was able to touch him before getting killed. They all died without putting up a decent fight, or even a fight.

After his crazy killing spree Ye Cheng was now at Lv 3 so he decided to move to another area as the monsters in this area weren't of any use to him now.

Just as he was about to turn around he noticed something in the woods, when he got closer he found that it's a copper c.h.e.s.t.

Ye Cheng crouched down to open the c.h.e.s.t, and began feeling around inside. His hand came into contact with a book. Taking the book out, he looked it over.

"Skill Book: Stealth"

Ye Cheng felt very happy, the Stealth skill was an essential skill for a beginner Thief.

Though, the Stealth skill book is not a rare one, it wasn't cheap in the earlier stage of the game so he felt happy to be able to get one for free.

Before he could even learn the skill he heard the sound of footsteps form behind.

When he turned around found a group of 4 people walking towards him.

The group has a magician, a priest, a thief and a guardian, it looked like a balanced party.

Except for the guardian who was at Lv 5 the rest were at Lv 4.

"This brother can you show me the skill book in your hand?" The guardian spoke. Although he asked like that his expressions showed that that he wouldn't accept no for an answer.

"Sorry, but I have some use for this skill book" as Ye Cheng said that the guardian expressions changed, he has never thought that a mere Lv 3 thief would dare to refuse his request.

Before the guardian could say anything the thief beside him spoke.

"Boy, don't think because Mr. Silver Zhu is asking you nicely that you are something! we are from the Crimson Fire Guild! If you know the limitations handover the skill book, kowtow down and apologize and we might leave you away" The thief's tone was filled with arrogance and his expressions was really rampant.

Ye Cheng started to get angry when he heard that.

During newbie period, Lv 10 and below is unable to PK. Even when killed, they will not lose any experience. But for equipment, there is a small chance of dropping it.

If not for that he would have killed this rampant group.

He has never liked those guilds in his past life most of them were filled with arrogance and moved around like they owned the world.

"Is your a*s jealous of the amount of sh*t that just came out of your mouth? Just a punch of idiot flock together and you think yourself something."

Without waiting for them to say anything Ye Cheng turned around and escaped in the forest, he had learned the Stealth skill then used it to disappear from everyone's sight.

The group flew into rage and wanted to hack Ye Cheng into pieces but there wasn't even a trace of him to be found.

They kept searching the forest but couldn't find anything.

Leaving the group of idiots fuming with rage while searching the area, Ye Cheng was currently moving towards Giant Rats area, a Lv 6 monster zone.

The Level 6 Giant Rats in this area would be a little challenge for the current Ye Cheng.

Giant Rats have a good senses for danger and the presence of people, even if he has stealth he still needs to be more careful.

Occasionally one or two Giant Rats would pass through the area, and Ye Cheng would hurriedly conceal himself.

Ye Cheng began calculating the level difference formula for Stealth in his head. After activating Stealth, the safe distance between him and a Giant Rat should be about two meters. In other words, if he went within two meters of a Giant Rat while he was in stealth, he would be discovered. Between two and three meters was the buffer zone where he could possibly be discovered. Beyond three meters he was at an absolutely safe distance.

Having spent many years playing the Thief profession in his previous life, Ye Cheng's usage of these Thief skills had long been tempered to perfection. In addition, using his vision to estimate distance also wasn't too hard of a feat.

Suddenly, the underbrush in the distance began to tremble and stir with movement. A Giant Rat that was as large as a Tibetan Mastiff pounced out of the thickets. Its sharp eyes surveyed the surroundings, but it didn't discover anything strange. As it was about to entered into another patch of grass and disappeared, Ye Cheng suddenly attacked.

He sent a kick at the Giant Rat then used his dagger to cut the throat of the Giant Rat.

It was a crit-hit that sent the Giant Rat to his doom before even knowing what happened.

Ye Cheng quickly went into hiding by activating Stealth, the nearby area had six to seven Giant Rats roaming around freely.

To clear out these Level 6 Giant Rats would require a team of at least twenty Level 3 players.

Ye Cheng observed the movements of these Giant Rats within the thickets of grass, as he attempted ambush another Giant Rat.

Their movements appeared to have a fixed pattern.

While using his Stealth skill, Ye Cheng slowly crept forward. He walked for approximately ten seconds, before suddenly stopping and holding his breath. Two Giant Rats began moving towards Ye Cheng's location stopping approximately two meters away.

Not far from where Ye Cheng was located, a Giant Rat moved slightly. It became aware of Ye Cheng's location almost immediately. After locking its eyes onto Ye Cheng, the Giant Rat exposed its sharp teeth and let out a hoarse growl.

Not good, I was discovered!

The Giant Rat moved, pouncing towards Ye Cheng.

The Giant Rat's sudden attack was quick, however, Ye Cheng still managed to sidestep out of the way of the Giant Rat's attack by relying on his reaction speed.

The sharp claws of the Giant Rat swiped through empty air, missing Ye Cheng's throat by just an inch.

Just as Ye Cheng had dodged, two more Giant Rats appeared and pounced at him from the sides. One of them clawed at him from the back, while the other bit into his arm. Ye Cheng used his legs to kick one of the Giant Rat sending it 3 meters away while using the dagger in his free hand to slash the other Giant Rat.

Five Giant Rats in the surrounding area simultaneously discovered him and began head towards here.

"D*mn!!! I have underestimated these rats!!" Ye Cheng cursed angrily.

Ye Cheng was now injured and was facing 8 Giant Rats that were Lv 6, under these circ.u.mstances the only way in front of him was to run away for his life.

Ye Cheng made a mad dash away from the area, but because of his injury he enter a weakened state and his movement speed was slow compared to the Giant Rats. Soon, they quickly caught up with him. One Giant Rat pounced forward, causing Ye Cheng to fall to the ground. The other Giant Rats soon encircled him and went in for the kill.

Noticing two Giant Rats coming up from behind, Ye Cheng didn't hesitate and put his all in the fight.

Ignoring the attacks of the two Giant Rats that landed on his body, Ye Cheng stabbed the one in front of him with his dagger then slashed out 2 times killing it in mere seconds, without even looking at the falling corpse of the giant rat, Ye Cheng turned around and slashed a few times at the legs of the two Giant Rats.

As Ye Cheng was desperately trying to find a way to escape, a system message appeared in his mind telling him that he has leveled up to Lv 4.

The EXP from killing the rat earlier was just what he needed to level up.

Ye Cheng has never felt this happy about leveling up to Lv 4 in his all life like he felt now.

His injuries had healed and his stats increased.

"You have played me enough already, now it's my turn!" Ye Cheng was grinning fiendishly at the remaining 7 Giant Rats.
