Rebirth: The Shadow Of Greed

Chapter 33 - I want him dead!

... Unsure if it's because the destruction of his barrier or for other reasons, Kyzil lost balance and fell backwards.

Cali who was completely in focus couldn't move as she watched the figure fall onto her.

"No!"

Ashli shouted as Kyzil landed on Cali, both of them falling to the floor together. The piece of land that Cali was holding up started to slip, with Z, Odrunn and Soli falling down, the tiger beast following closely behind them.

Arlene and Ashli Rushed towards the edge of the cliff, looking over it as the trio plunged down towards the basin.

"You! How could you release your manifest!"

Arlene shouted you're really useless!

"You caused the death of Soli!"

Her lips trembling as they turned white, her body convulsing from the anger.

Wallas stood up to defend her,

"Hey, it's not her fault, it was an accident! Kyzil fell onto her. If anything..."

"Don't you blame it on me! If those commoners had sacrificed themselves, Soli would still be alive. Useless pricks!"

Kyzil shouted, drawing the ire of those around him.

"Enough! What's happened has happened, the best thing for us to do is report this to HQ and get them to get in contact with the hunters association. They'll send some hunters to find them, whether they are alive or not. We need to keep our wits together, the dark forest is a dangerous place and we have to get back through it regardless."

Lieutenant Raff shouted, disappointment in his voice, it was a colossal screw-up, which caused the death of 3 men, he couldn't be bothered with the backlash from the military, but he was fully upset that his trip this time had three casualties. These were lives that were lost.

Arlene and Ashli sat at the side, hugging each other and crying at the loss of their best friend.

"Hey, they will survive, Z and Odrunn are tough as nails, they'll bring Soli out of danger."

Vero tried to comfort them, his words, however, caused them to cry even more.

"look, I don't know about the other two, but Soli is strong enough on her own, she'll definitely be alright. We just have to wait for the news from the hunters association."

Kipp stepped in, seeing that the two of them were practically breaking down, he, the man of the people needed to step in to take care of them.

Private Warfield and Private Tristan were standing with Lieutenant Raff as they reported to HQ and explained the detail of the incidence.

At the cliff, Sergeant Scarlett stood silently, a teardrop rolled down her face.

"What happened to 'the only battle worth fighting for is the one you live to fight another day?' was that all a lie?"

David stood with Wallas, they were trying to comfort Cali who took the blame for losing them. She sat straight on the floor and held her knees, tears streamed down her face as she put her head into her knees.

Kyzil looked at the scene in front of him and clicked his tongue, he walked off into the forest where he was out of earshot and took out his commswatch.

"Mother, I've sent the commoner who had humiliated me into the basin."

"What!? Dear, you can't just go about dealing with people this way, you need to have a plan! Did you get caught? Does the military know it was your doing?"

Kyzil's mother answered.

"I did it secretly and pushed the blame, they don't know it was me. I don't care mother! That brat humiliated me, he humiliated our family. I need to know he's dead for sure!"

Kyzil whispered aggressively, he wanted to shout but had stopped himself just before doing so in fear that he might alert the rest.

"Sigh, okay dear, let me see what I can do." Kyzil's mother replied before ending the call.

"Addison? It's me, some little shit had humiliated my son and our family. It's been taken care off, they are now in the basin, I just need you to send some people to see if they are still alive and if they are, just get rid of them."

Kyzil's mother spoke fiercely through the phone, it was evident that the two had dealings way before and are still keeping in contact.

"Tsk Tsk Tsk, if you need us to send some people to get rid of the problem, it can be arranged, but the price has to be at least 10 times the normal rate."

Addison said, emphasizing on the word 10.

Kyzil's mother got stunned at the price and shouted

"10 times?! That's ridiculous! Just for a little commoner brat?"

"If it was just the brat it's fine, we've already received images of the 3 people who fell down into the basin and one of them is Soli Aquos, the girl from the Aquos family. Not only has the military asked the hunter association for help, but the Aquos family are also putting pressure, sending their stronger guards to participate in the search. Now, do you think its reasonable to pay 10 times the price? "

Addison replied calmly, business was business to him, he has calculated the price and he knew exactly how much he stood to gain and lose.

"The Aquos girl fell in together with them!? Okay, I'll pay 10 times your usual rate, but don't let my husband know about our involvement."

Kyzil's mother ended the communication as she buried her face in her hands. She knew she had spoilt her son, but Kyzil was her only son, who else would she spoil but him?

On the other hand, Addison who had also ended the call got excited, he pulled open the tent flap and headed outside into the forest clearing. He looked at his band of dark hunters and shouted.

"Boys! We've got an assignment and it's 10 times our rate since we're already within the area we just have to be quick and make sure a brat is dead just before the hunter association get to them."

The dark hunters cheered as they immediately picked up their gear preparing to head into the cliff face where the trio had fallen.
