Reborn As The Founder’s Descendant, Bringing Change

Chapter 7 - Me Being Lyonel Swordhaven, not as JJ Alcantara and Frederick Freival

Watching over the sight of villagers and my men doing their work enthusiastically by-hand, I rode my way over to the next site - the construction site nearby the forest and waters marked as "Zone Alpha."

Located at the cave, "Zone Alpha" was a site where there will be a shipyard and dock for the sh.i.p.s with the other dock being inside the not-known cavern itself.

One of my trusted aides who I entrusted with the task of surveying possible exploration of developments in the kingdom, then arrived with his usual white steed.

"Milord, I have good news! The city development proposal has been approved by the council."

"Is that so, [NAME WITHHELD]?" I said as I turned my gaze to my subordinate as I recalled a group of ruling houses and people working with me in improving the lives and living of every Freivalian. "I thought the council had yet to come to me and express their concerns 'bout that and their lands?"

"That issue Lord Frederick has already been talked out by our liege His Majesty King Carlos." answered [NAME WITHHELD].

'My dear cousin talked some sense to them, huh? At least those who opposed it at first agreed this time.' I thought unimpressed about my position before giving out my sense of content and accomplishment. "That's..great! With it approved, it'll be the first step of progress!"

"Absolutely right, milord."

"Zzz.."

"Zzz..."

"Zzz..."

"Zzz..."

'Huh? Did I dream of what happened in the past?' Waking up, I found myself laying at the same tree shade spot where I took a nap for a break from training with Emily and Grandfather Siegfried.

'My dear cousin, I missed you already. If only you are here to see our current country, what can you say about her now?' Acknowledging what I'm seeing with my own eyes and what I experienced as I lowered my gaze and thought of the days of my late cousin's reign, my thoughts then went to the findings I found with the Swordhaven Council during our meeting before the training.

The first issue was minimal corruption found in the ranks of Freival including the army, nobles, and some rich families except the Swordhaven because of its meritocracy, honor, efficiency, discipline, and family-like hospitality embedded into its values and traits for each Swordhaven blood-related or not.

The second was missing products in 'courtesy' of a brigand group who was a thorn in the kingdom's side for many years after the war with the now-defunct Imperial Republic of Maine eleven years ago.

The third issue, lastly, was what pissed me off coming from the side of a modern-day world where your rank and connection even lineage does not matter but your abilities; incompetent talentless noble spawns having positions in the army.

These three points, were what would I have to be considerate of because my adoptive father, the current Lord Swordhaven, told me about and what advice I would give except the [Sword Dance Festival] for my age group that does not require an educational background or school affiliation in this world like those typical light novels, anime, and others thankfully.

Thinking about these including my newly-given chance in life made me wonder whether I should go all out in trying to help the country and get to experience the isekai life here or not because should I go take that road, I would have to use my 'eyes' whom to pick and much to my disgust in the current state of this world like the pre-FSEA era, the frowned usage of fame and connections to get things done properly for people living in the Swordhaven territory comfortably and to put those responsible for murdering my current life's parents to death.

Stuck at those thoughts, I wondered how things would be here should I put those crooks down one by one like assassinating them and place evidence of their being foolish crooks while the Swordhaven territory well-off from my planned reforms.

That's just me being the guy who hated useless fodders with passion. But if they hold no value as a person, a knight, a politician, or any yet completely rotten as a whole, I firmly believe they should be put down before things get worse from their acts of stupidity and being a true as[BEEP].

"Hehe, so warm~"

Startled at the familiar sleepy voice whose owner rested on my right shoulder, I looked over a bit and smiled.

'Oh, how much I want to see the future beautiful flower bloom.'

Emily Swordhaven, my not blood-related big sister figure who I talked with and sealed a vow with her last night, currently sleeping on my right shoulder, made me think of plans I made for her that fateful night. Her potential and having the same elemental affinities as me, it wouldn't that be a problem except adding modifications. She would be able to duplicate my swordsmanship and things that made my 'other side' part of history if not all.

Playfully yet gently touching her silver-colored hair, I caught a pleasant view of her elven ears hiding behind her hair which she intended to make it long starting today when she asked me last night what suits her.

Generally, my 'other side' as "JJ Alcantara" was a poor sucker of white / silver / silver-white haired beautiful girls having blue/sky blue eyes.

While I found it one of the top ideal combinations for an ideal waifu, as for me, the guy having both memories of JJ of FSEA and Frederick the Sword Saint of Freival, as long as the girl is beautiful and cute, they're fine provided they do not have rotten heart and bad family members. Their oppai though, would be the last in my preference because it must belong to a cute beautiful girl - be it big, average, or small.

For some strange reason, I still could not get off from Emily's cuddle. She's just that cute and she's cuddling my right arm while she's sleeping.

Cute makes everything right, I think?

'They're back.'

The Order Trio made up of Gawayne Wales, Graith Pateros, and Geoffrey Erickson, who returned from their small errand, got their respective weapons as usual for any moment. The errand involved nothing minor - getting gr.a.p.es, apples, and bread for our afternoon snack while replenishing our reserves and energy.

Seeing them in one piece currently, I smiled a bit because the Order Trio was an interesting person of their own and that I enjoy having a pleasant company with them. I could have left the [Order Fortress - Training Hall Garden] for a small stroll at the fortress but the satisfaction of resting the cute elf girl who is my sparring partner was enough for me to amuse myself with fantasy tropes in every light novel and manga being a reality in this world.

"You guys made it back, safely," I welcomed them for their return from their errand. "Are there some happenings along the way?"

"Nothing but be happier in Swordhaven Territory because of sights, Lord Lyonel." calmly replied Graith. "The view of the mountain behind the Order Fortress is so calming that it reminded me of how I used to explore outside the fortress when I was a child. Surely, Otto Ironblood, the Founder of the Order put up the idea of constructing here not only for sights but for strategic location."

"Ah," started to say Geoffrey as he pushed his glasses with the tip of his finger. "Now that I think of it, I heard he fought alongside the Sword Saint when he was alive. It was then King Carlos who constructed the plans laid out by the Sword Saint after he passed away. The Order Fortress and the Order, one of them his collaboration projects."

"I haven't forgotten a small history, Geoffrey." said Gawayne as he suddenly smiled. "Back when we were children, you said you want to be the next Sword Saint. But you only have intellect, not combat prowess. King Carlos' cousin got both, y'know."

"H-hey, I was a child back then okay! At least Lord Lyonel might be the next one."

"Geoffrey, I think you should not say that to Lord Lyonel..he's right in front of us you know..oh don't forget young miss Emily...you might wake her up. "

"Gah."

"For someone being intellectual, you got silenced by Graith," amusingly commented Gawayne with a grin who patted Geoffrey's right shoulder like he tried to cheer up from struggles only to be a comedic sight to me.

"I..do not need that, Gawayne.'"

'Perhaps it's time to take the next step of making things great again. I only need time to take things lightly fast with moderation.' At the continuous mention of an old friend's name from their discussion coming from the Order Trio including the mention of Carlos, I smiled a bit with fondness.

Unknown to them, besides being JJ Alcantara, I am also the mentioned Sword Saint.

Suddenly, Gawayne asked me a question. "Lord Lyonel, how 'bout you learn some of my swordsmanship techniques by observing me?"

At the mention of learning swordsmanship from Gawayne by watching him which was true about myself learning a move at a single glance when I tried it on one of the sparring Order Knights after my arrival in Order Fortress five hours ago, I perked up with interest because I am the type of guy who likes to make his techniques including what made himself a historical figure in history books, pseudo-perfect in various areas.

My swordsmanship style, training, and intellect...I truly need to live up to being the Sword Saint in this same world.

Before I could say "Sure, let's do it later after Emily wakes up." to Gawayne, a calm gaze and refined voice of Graith halted the attempt.

"Gawayne, I think you should ask him for another time because Grandmaster told us he got 'that', remember? Lord Lyonel might have a bad memory of it and that he wants to do it with moderation."

"Sounds unbelieving but legit."

'No, I don't really have unpleasant memories of my past lives except not experiencing a romance, and having a cute childhood friend heroine right here is enough to patch my regrets.' Hearing it directly from Graith himself who I expected to remain composed like a cool-type guy when I was first introduced to him by Grandfather Siegfried, I sweatdropped at his reply.

"Graith might be right." said belonging to the recovered Geoffrey who as usual got his usual sheathed longsword-katana strapped to his waist. "How about we try-"

Unfortunately or fortunately for him, when I looked over at my right shoulder, a certain someone became awake as she slightly sleepily spoke from her former activity.

"Ehehe, I found a nice spot~ I better get going before Lyon awakes - eh!? eh? eh?"

'Kawaii.' Seeing Emily turning red as she became cuter, I gave her a bit of shield by holding her closer to my right shoulder with my right arm to hide her embarrassing (and cute) moment.

"Chu."

Of course, I haven't forgotten to kiss her forehead to assure I am okay with that before shielding her embarrassment.

It just felt somehow okay according to the manga I read from one of my memories. I might be wrong though because it came from a fictional work.

But when I looked at her again, it turned out it had a good effect on her.

"Thank you, Lyonel." bashfully said Emily whose face was red as evidenced by her steaming elf ears.

The Order Trio, however, wasn't sure, quiet as a rock at my act except for Geoffrey who for some reason got his eyeglasses illuminated by light like those glasses wearing characters from anime.

What's the word for that? A glint!

"Pardon me, Lord Lyonel, I think you should keep in mind to do it in moderation," said Geoffrey. "You should keep in mind your decorum as the Swordhaven Heir too."

I let out a playful wink and smile as I half-joked, "Er, Geoffrey, I am mentally older than what you think. I know where my lines are. Just because I am in this younger and healthier body does not mean I will go that low like those Yellow Scarf sc.u.mbags. Also, to be honest, I only do want to try things I haven't experienced in my life - a romance and having a friend in my age bracket."

"I get what you mean, Lord Lyonel." commented Graith with understanding as he offered me bread from the brown paper bag. "But can you at least be modest?"

"Sure, sure." I replied, grabbing the bread for Emily using my right hand.

Putting my attention at Emily, she turned back to her normal self yet blushing a bit at my offering gesture.

I quietly invoked a spell for us to speak privately as the time itself including our surroundings except us became frozen.

From here, I took her right hand with a smile as she became surprised at what happened at first. But knowing my secret and Emily, she didn't mind it as she knew I have plenty of spells I know from my other memory and self as the Sword Saint except as JJ Alcantara who produced some concepts.

Those concepts from my memory as him, I would like to try it out and see if it works. The puppetry of inanimate objects and levitation that required an amount of mana control, it's good for various situations.

"[Emily, I really enjoy you receiving my love, attention and spoiling you a bit. Besides your turn of spoiling me as my big sister figure in my current self and exchanging affection, we need to work on our goals in the future including what may come. Your swordsmanship you showed to me after I taught you my moves before our recent session, I can see it for myself from my experience you are getting there.]"

"[Thank you Lyonel.]" said Emily as she held my right hand tight as she gave me one of her brightest smiles. "[I am only trying my best to be by your side...I can't be a hindrance including the Blade Festival.]"

'Blade Festival, huh? I can use that to build my reputation and put it to good use here even in politics. Haven't been there for a long time before the war.'

"[And...]" Emily shyly looked away and her enrapturing sky blue eyes looked away and back to me as she became red suddenly.

'What? I know her feelings and that I accepted it. But why did she blush?' Staring intently at her, I witnessed she became determined as she looked at me and took hold of both my hands with her own.

"[....to become your bride, Lyonel.]"

"[Eh?]" Hearing that, I became speechless while at the same time happy because I haven't gotten that life turning event from both parts of my past lives.

While others may see it cute between us because we're currently children in their eyes if they were to be from my otherself's world, the question was - does my adoptive father, the current patriarch Lord Swordhaven, acknowledge Emily's dream?

The way things walked in the House of Swordhaven were unique in its own way because of its system including the Clan Council because of its arrangement, clan governing and leadership system and traditions. If one came from Alcantara's world, they would be at least surprised and its traditions would remind them of a militaristic yet hospitable and efficient one almost near on the lines of Prussia.

My case of being the adopted son of Lord Swordhaven, if I am not mistaken from my memories and lessons as the designated Swordhaven Heir, I would be bound to be engaged in the future to a Swordhaven girl who has Swordhaven blood. Also, she must not be 'undesirable' but knowing the Swordhaven they don't have one in their ranks.

Emily smiled and hugged me. "[Relax Lyonel, Lord Swordhaven approved my dream. The only things I have to do is learn more under your tutelage and improve my prowess as a knight.]"

'Childhood friend heroine route is now canon, it's time for me to train and look after my future bride.' Ruffling her hair, I smiled back. "[Well then Emily Swordhaven, I am under your care.]"

"[Same here.]"

With us smiling at each other, I told Emily that I'll be cancelling the spell.

"[Alright.]"

"[Cancel]"

The spell broke and everything went back to the way where everything halted like a paused video which one played by cl.i.c.k.i.n.g the play button on the video player to make it 'go on'.

Observing the faces of the Order Trio, they remained the same like nothing happened including the spell I casted.

Graith eating gr.a.p.es.

Geoffrey without his eyeglasses (much to my surprise because he's even good looking without it), eating some kind of sandwich.

Gawayne eating a bread roll that looked familiar to me.

Wait was that a pandesal? I wanted one for so long! Pandesal is delicious when hot and newly out of the oven!

Pandesal is life! If one hates it for no reason without trying one biteful at least with a reason that is not on the lines of "it's spoiled!", "one of the ingredients is not what it is but something nasty like crap and spoiled egg", and "rock hard", go to gulag!

"Hey Gawayne," I asked as I pointed at that bread roll as I hid my growing excitement at the sight of pandesal, "is that a pandesal?"

"This?" Gawayne said, referring to that pandesal(?). "If that's what you call it from your past life, Lord Lyonel, yes. Here in Freival, it's called pan de sal in courtesy of one of the founding fathers, Gregory Yzon Ibarra. He was meant to be a king after the Unification Wars though but the summoning spell didn't last, he disappeared right in front of our forefathers. For me, it's such a sad sight because he was that talented."

'Huh!? Original First Generation King, right?' At the mention of my past life's ancestor's name who made FSEA into a respected international powerhouse, the pages I read from his 'other' biography in [Alcantara Family Library] as Jose James Alcantara, would mean it's a factual isekai trope that occurred in part of his life and how he used what he learned from this world to develop pre-FSEA Davao into a fine crime-free progressive place and envy of the whole Pre-FSEA Philippines.

"Gawayne..did my grandfather tell you about who I am from 'that' " I asked, being careful not to use the word past life in the Order Fortress.

The Order Trio looked at each other and smiled.

"He did, Lord Lyonel, including Geoffrey and Graith here. No one only but us." replied Gawayne with a small smile. "But we are aware it's a sign of trust placed onto us..we look at him as our grandfather figure y'know."

"It's true." added Geoffrey as his eyeglasses right lens' glinted as I got a view of his green left eye. "I owe Grandmaster for making me a fine individual and a knight. The day he entrusted us this task..it's a big honor."

"As for me," added Graith with a rare cool fond smile. "When I used to do nothing but watch the clouds, he introduced me to the sword and the Order."

Both Emily and I smiled at their life changing story and how Grandfather Siegfried turned the way around for the Order Trio.

My view and image of my grandfather by then, changed; he's a kind badass oldman who brought joy to people like the Order Trio and others.

"It must be nice to hear how my grandfather changed your lives," I happily commented, instead of other types of bread the Trio bought, opted to take pandesal for us, the Swordhaven children, to eat by giving Emily's first to her's. "Fufu, I feel inspired to do my part more now in the name of valor and honor. "

Holding Emily's left hand which she hasn't used for holding the beloved pandesal I offered to her, I smiled at her. "Emily, let's not make anything a wasted effort starting today. We should improve and put more skill sets as individuals first, then as knights second."

Emily grasped my hand back affectionately as she rested her head as she smiled back before taking a bite of pandesal. "I'll keep your advice in mind, Lyonel."

"Alright, let's go and grab training weapons from [Order Fortress Armory]- " Remembering something, I paused as I recalled what Geoffrey tried to say as I inquired him a question, "Hey Geoffrey, were you trying to say something about meeting someone or so? You know the thing when you guys returned from errands and Emily asleep at that time?"

Emily, who was busy chowing a pandesal, let out a cute blush at what I said.

"That, Lord Lyonel?" replied Geoffrey. "I intended to introduce you to someone at that moment. Around this time, that person should be gone now for their other parts of training."

'It sounds like they're busy just like me.' I thought as I asked him a question. "May I at least know the person's name if not from a different Freivalian house?"

"I am not sure of their complete name and gender because Lord Cain and Grandmaster told us..since it concerns you and your training schedule. I do not mean to ruin your training session with young miss Emily by saying that though..but yeah." answered Geoffrey with a sweatdrop.

'Tell me about it.' I thought with a sweatdrop, agreeing what Geoffrey said, knowing Granduncle Cain being himself.

"However," added Geoffrey as his eyeglasses glinted for a moment."We can confirm that person is from Ironblood."

'Ironblood?' My thoughts went to an old friend, Otto Ironblood who stayed by my side before myself, the Sword Saint at that time, perished from tuberculosis. If I were to describe my time there as the guy named "Frederick Freival", I'll liken it to the fantasy version of Okita Souji from Shinsengumi because of an 8-year-age difference gap and a master swordsman with the man, Otto Ironblood, one of my close friends and colleagues.

At those thoughts, I smiled a bit and wondered how this era's Ironblood would perform and their today's reputation. Not my thoughts as Frederick Freival or JJ Alcantara, but as Lyonel Swordhaven because that's who I am currently at this point, not my former selves in the past and I want it that way.
