Ryzen POV

After fumbling around for a long time, we somehow ended up in the bedroom and snuggled for the rest of the day.

"Hmm... by the way, are you free next week?" he suddenly asked, gently caressing my back.

"Yeah. You know I have a such a flexible schedule." I said with a smile.

He scoffed at what I said before replying.

"I was just thinking, my parents are coming back next week from their United Nations trip. I thought it was good if we have dinner with them... What do you think?" he asked gently.

Meeting the parents? Ah, not bad. This is really a big step. This opportunity is another stepping stone towards my mission.

Quickly, I nodded and smiled at him.

"Fine, let's go and meet your parents." I said gently.

Little did I know, when the day finally came, sudden memories flashed through my mind.

I did see a bit of Lennox's mother before in pictures, and only thought that she looked familiar. To be precise, only faint memories appeared.

Seeing her in person though, I am fully reminded of Millen Yu's memories.

Before, in social events, she would greet Lennox's mother and try to strike up a conversation. However, it seems like Lennox's mother didn't really have a favoured impression on her.

Lennox's mother, Lillian Zevallos, is a known iron-lady because she is strong-willed and passionate about her work. As a diplomat, she has helped many people not only in the country, but also people around the world.

I looked at Lillian Zevallos and she had an intimidating gaze directed at me. Actually, everything about her is so intimidating and fierce. She reminds me of a strict hospital director I once encountered in my original life.

Somehow, I could not help but be nervous so I held Lennox's arm tighter.

Noticing it, Lennox whispered to me quietly in an assuring tone, "It's fine. It's just dinner."

Still, I could not help but feel restless.

Thankfully though, Lennox's father, Riley Zevallos, seems to not be as intimidating as his wife. He had a charming aura just like Lennox.

In fact, now that I think about it, Lennox looks more like his dad rather than his mum.

No wonder Lennox looks attractive, because his parents both look pretty good even with their age. His mum, in particular, looked a bit like the British actress Vivian Leigh.

As we ate our dinner, it was lively because Lennox's dad led the discussions. He was a conversationalist and tried to me make comfortable.

On the other hand, Lennox's mum was a bit quiet and would only nod or give a small smile.

"Son, do you mind if you help me out a bit? I need to talk to you about something." Riley Zevallos suddenly said.

"Okay." Lennox nodded.

Before following his dad who already left from his seat though, he softly whispered into my ear and rubbed my shoulders gently.

I only nodded at him. I was too embarrassed to say anything more since I felt Lillian Zevallos' intimidating gaze on me.

The nervous feeling crept up again when Lennox completely disappeared from the dining room. It was only me and his mum.

And with that, it was a quiet and awkward atmosphere.

I quietly continued eating my food, too terrified to speak up.

"You're doing medicine school and volunteering at La Coron City at the same time?" Lillian Zevallos suddenly asked in a cold voice.

I froze momentarily before replying, surprised at her sudden question.

"Yes, Ma'am." I said in a small voice.

She looked at me and raised her eyebrows.

"Hmm... and you're managing well? Doesn't the volunteering you do hinder you from your medicine school? Studying to be a doctor is no joke." she said in a firm voice.

I calmed myself inwardly before replying.

"It's no problem. I believe I manage it well. I am up-to-date with medicine school and do good in it. Volunteering at the city hall is also fun, and since I am studying to be a doctor, it also allows me to be able to get more experience and have some familiarity with what I want to do. Honestly, it is an honour." I said sincerely.

Surprisingly, she nodded at me and let out a small smile for me. Though, I still got the chills even when she smiled.

"That's good. Indeed, you have matured and changed a lot." she said meaningfully.

I twitched a bit at her remark and could not think of an answer. I gave out a somehow awkward smile instead.

"You know, you are the only girl that Lennox introduced to us. I also heard about you from my niece, Kristine, and honestly, I was surprised and disappointed at the same time when I heard that you were seeing my son." she said.

My heart felt like it was being squished. With such direct words and a fierce face like the one that Lillian Zevallos, how would it not be?

"Frankly, I was not a fan of you before. The way you acted was too immature and it did not help that you let yourself be involved in childish, party scandals. I was disappointed because I thought that you would not match my son and only hinder his life." she continued.

With what she said, I started to relax a little.

"But seeing you now in person, I apologise, Millen. I was wrong to judge you since after all, you were younger back then. You are graceful, polite and educated. Truly, you are exactly the one that my son needs. Especially that now, he's involved in such a complex field." she remarked with a smile.

I feel like letting out a relieved sigh once she said that.

"I am flattered, Ma'am." I said respectfully.

Lillian Zevallos only smiled as she sipped from the wine in front of her.

"There is only one thing that I want to ask of you." she suddenly said.

My heart beat fast again. What it is now? Lennox's mum is really too aggressive. If I were to interact with her everyday, I would not be able to handle it.

I only nodded and gathered my courage to look at her directly in the eyes, waiting for what she was going to say.

"I hope that you will understand Lennox and stay by his side. Please do not make him stray from his ideals and instead, inspire him to become a better leader to his constituents. Politics is a very dangerous field so with that, I was always worried who he'd associate himself with. It is very easy to stray from your morals, and fall into the trap of politics. It is good that you seem to have the same ideals as him." she muttered with a serious tone.

I am quite touched at what she said, but at the same time, it makes me feel extremely guilty.

After all, I am only passing by Lennox's life for a little while. After this, I will go back to my original life and continue my normal routines.

"Also, in the future, I hope that you and my son will have more than one child together. It's lonely when it's an only child. I wish that I can have two or more grandchildren that I can play with." Lillian Zevallos said suddenly with a hint of teasing.

When I heard her, I almost spit the wine that I was currently drinking. I coughed a bit as my cheeks reddened.

On the other hand, Lillian Zevallos only let out a small laugh, probably thinking that I am just flustered.

More than flustered, her words only made me more guilty than the what she said previously.

Kids with Lennox? The thought of it... is somewhat overwhelming.

I am not the girl that Lillian Zevallos should be saying this to. I am not a girl that Lennox can have a future with.

I cannot stay by his side.

I really cannot afford to do so.

Lennox is the key person for me to be able to get back in my original life. From the start, that has always been his purpose for me.

But thinking about it, isn't this mission quite cruel? I am completing Millen Yu's lifetime wish, but I don't know what will happen after it.

It's not like Millen Yu's soul can come back since apparently, it already rested in Heaven, did it not?

Then, would Lennox just find 'Millen Yu' disappear one day?

Since when I do complete my mission, it means that he has truly fallen in love with me, right?

If one has genuine feelings for someone and they suddenly disappear, wouldn't they be miserable? Would he not be in pain?

Somehow... I just realised that in the end, it's like I'm taking advantage of his love and genuine feelings.

But wait, is this not what I wanted from the start? Why am I starting to waver now?

My heart suddenly clenched in pain, as if it's being suffocated.

This won't do.

I am not someone who will stray away from my goal.
