Reborn princess: I will change my ill-fate

75 Chapter 75. Someone at the door

Aeinshia was lost in her thoughts, thinking of all the ways to apologize, or atleast try to apologize with a change of words to Shirley. What she did was wrong, she was well aware of that.

Aeinshia couldn't believe herself. She vowed to herself, that this time she wouldn't act up according to her emotions. She would keep herself in check and not take decisions on impulse.

She promised herself and higher being, who gave her the opportunity to think and take decisions wit a rational and calm mind. She was doing good in that aspect till now.

In fact, she was proud of herself, on how she handled the situation with Evan. She didn't leave him like that, when he rejected her. She took the initiative and tried to think of situations from his point of view and gathered courage to face him.

She stepped herself In his shoes to understand him and take lead in mending their relationship. And this time she became the one who gave him the helping hand instead of always depending on him and seeking his help, resulting the situation turn around.

And, the result: they became a little bit more close. Their was still awkwardness in their relationship, despite, their strong feelings. But, thats fine. What matters is they were getting close and trying to understand each other's behaviors and strengths and weaknesses.

As they say, something is better than nothing.

Aeinshia thought, she got a grip on how to act, but today's incident totally proved her wrong. Just at the thought of facing her first targedy  in her life, she became a coward unable to think anything.Even though, she succeeded in one battle, it seemed she was going to fail at the end of the war.

And, Aeinshia couldn't afford that. There was no harm to her right now, but it is still her responsibility to guard and protect her people. For that, she has to be calm and calculated and not give into her emotions.

But, in a fit of panic and in the desperation to stop Shirley to argue with her, she ended up giving into her anger and yelled at her. She treated her like a real servant, who has to follow ger orders, no matter what.

And, Aeinshia hated every bit of it. Shirley is like her own sister, but now that she treated Shirley how she shouldn't, will she ever gonna get out of this guilt?

Suddenly, she heard the door of her chambers being knocked. She snapped her head in that direction, wondering if it was Shirley. She then, looked back outside the window and saw the sun. Its almost little past the noon.

Time for lunch.

Her gaze looking back at the door, hoping for it to be Shirley, but she felt it won't be at the same time. She know about Shirley's personality. Right now she will be in a fit of anger. And, to her surprise it was true. Her intuition never wronged her.

This was the second time Aeinshia was feeling dejected by seeing Sophia. Don't take that though of Aeinshia is wrong. She loves and adores and admires Sophia. But, she was hoping it would be Shirley.

No hate towards anyone, but she was close to Shirley than anyone, especially, among the people who served her.

The first time, when Sophia came to greet her, she was half expecting Shirley to be back. Her expectations were shattered, when she realized it was Sophia. Then, now she expected Shirley to be here with the ceramic tray, serving her meal to her like everyday.

Again, she was met with disappointed. Her smile, along with her hopes faltered but, she managed to maintain it. Cause, she didn't want to upset Sophia, by her unruly behavior. She can't let other's emotions to effect a person, who doesn't even know what happened.

"Princess, your meal." Sophia chirped happily, while showing the variety of dishes bought for Aeinshia. Aeinshia showed a bright smile and walked towards the small dining table, that was placed right across from her bed.

Aeinshia glanced down and the smell of the delicacies wafted and pleased her smell glands. Her mouth watered involuntarily and she couldn't wait to taste them. She didn't wait and scooped up her delicious second meal of the day.

Sophia was kneeling just beside and watching Aeinshia hungrily devouring the dishes. She was happy the princess liked the dishes. She kept on observing Aeinshia, seeing whether she didn't like anything or she is in need for anything else.

Suddenly, she wondered. "Should I tell the princess? Of course, it doesn't matter if she knows or not?" Sophia was contemplating internally, when an idea popped up in her mind.

"This might be my key. Yeah, let's just test the water." Sophia thought and smiled a not so innocent one.

"I see you are enjoying the meal, my princess. I'm glad, we are able to satisfy and provide the meals that you enjoy. Shirley definitely knows all your tastes." Sophia said, but said the last line with a bit of care and started to observe the princess' expression.

Aeinshia was about to put the food into her mouth, when Sophia said that. "Did I hear it clearly? Shirley prepared my meals."

Sophia nodded her head politely. She decided to bite the bullet and just ask the question. She was half sure, Aeinshia wouldn't mind it.

"Uh...princess? May I ask you a question?" Sophia hesitantly started. Aeinshia who resumed her eating, stopped and glanced at the lady. She simply nodded, as her mouth currently, was chewing the delicacies.

"Is everything well between you and Shirley?" Sophia asked. Aeinshia's eyes twitched and Sophia continued her sentence. "She seemed agitated while leaving your chambers." Sophia decided to keep her statements in level, so not to come our as offending or intrusive.

"Nothing happened. She sure is agitated. I'll talk to her later. It doesn't have to concern your interests Miss Sophia, " Aeinshia didnt want to tell anyone about it, so she also, kept her answer leveled and outrightly rejected to hinting Sophia to not probe furthure. ."I believe she is going to the festival right now?" Aeinshia questioned while looking outside the window.

It was now, the shift, of the Duke's house maids to attend the festival. That's the reason, why Aeinshia stayed in the Palace after her breakfast. And, as a royal, she would go to the festival in the evening, following other royals and the Emperor.

"Yes, my princess, they would be completing some tasks and would be proceeding to the festival, according to the guards of Duke Rutz." Sophia said, while bowing.

"Dont you think its high time, we should get started on getting me ready?" Aeinshia asked, still finishing her meal. Truth be said, Aeinshia didn't have interest to attend today's festival.

But, it was a tradition for the royals to attend the legendary and most important festival that takes place in Seazle empire. And, most importantly, all the citizens would be seeing the royals there.

Seeing the royals is not a regular thing, so the crowd is huge and it spreads a happiness in the kingdom.

This year's festival is more important for the citizens as the future heir, Evan, was going to be there and the Emperor's most awaited announcement was going to be given.

She observed that the preparations were going to be grand and the security was on high alert. Though, many guards were not seen around the Palace as before, the Palace was highly guarded as the festival can also have many uninvited guests.

"Yes, princess." Sophia replied, but before Aeinshia can reply a knock echoed in the silence that followed by the Sophia's words.

Both the women glanced at the door, wondering the same thing.
