Reborn princess: I will change my ill-fate

Her master was a mysterious person. Dark as the abyss. Try messing with it. You would have to risk falling into it and never come back again. You would be vanishing from the entire universe for all you could know. 

Black shallow of death remained silent. He knew everything, but he never pointed it out in front of their boss. He never had the power to control others and know what they think inside their brain. He could only guess what's going and take his own measurements of his safety and could endlessly follow his masters orders for his life time.

Black shallow of death was also, saved by their master. To say the truth, all the Black Pawns were at some point saved and taken by their master. They were all at their lowest when they met the person, who apparently was going to change their life, as they believed. 

Well, their life changed. It did a one eighty. The master was very diligent in using their emotions against them and to make them his followers. Emotionless and almost a killing machines. 

But, at some point they realized they were humans after all. Humans who were blinded by emotions and took shelter under devil who they seem to believe as a God. 

But, now they couldn't do anything. As they have already fallen into the oblivion. Into the dark abyss. Where there is no return and are forced to watch the light from afar. The light they wished they never abandoned. 

" Oh, wait, did that girl who killed Marquess is still alive? " Shirley raised a question out of nowhere, which clearly didn't fit the situation right now. She was trying to distract. That was clear. 

Black shallow of death isn't a dumb person to not to know the underlying meaning of Shirley's words. That girl is one among his trust worthy subordinates. They were best buddies of childhood. Trying to find comfort in each other's friendship when they had absolutely nothing as to call their own.

In fact, she is the first member, who joined his army and got trained by him. So that girl always held an high position in his heart. But, unexpectedly, she got killed by their big boss, and the reason is, she created a huge mess by killing the marquess guard and not being careful during her mission, missing one of the letters. Over confidence kills. 

There were some people in the kingdom who could easily figure that out, if they worked hard enough. It wasn't hard enough to not to decode, but at the same time it wasn't a fool's play to decipher it.

Somewhere or other, there will be definitely someone who can overpower them and could be smart enough to successfully decode it. So that piece of paper is always a threat to them, and using that reason, their boss killed that girl.

But that's not the whole truth. That girl had already became a target for their boss and killing her, their boss needed a reason. And as their boss wished, lessening the boss's work, that stupid girl herself provided an nice opportunity for the boss, resulting the girl herself to walk into the devil's den, getting herself killed.

Black shallow of death always blamed himself for the result. He is afraid for the situation to repeat. He investigated, to know why the girl got on bad side of their boss.

Is it because she knew something she shouldn't find? But what was that? If it is really something forbidden, which might get her killed, she would have definitely avoided it for sure and would have waited to receive black shallow of death's permission for further involvement. But, then again she knew better than to not involve in their boss' matters. Because everyone would be met by their cruel fate, if they go against them. Could it be that she accidentally found out something? Is it worthy to kill an innocent life? What was that forbidden truth? Why their boss is so Secretive and had always been eager to erase what happened in the past? Will the boss kill anyone who knows what happened back then? What is boss trying to hide so desperately?

Black shallow of death always searched answers to those endless pit of questions. The more he delved into the past, the more he understood he never known better about what happened and the path seemed endless. It's like he himself is falling into a deep pit, and things were not to one's assume.

They were all pawns after all true to their name. All they know and have to do was follow the orders given to them by their boss. They always had no other choice. Well, there is another choice. Death. And, obviously no one like that option. 

Something bigger than he could expect happened. What was that? Is getting prince Evan is their boss only motive? Why does things that's happening say otherwise? Are things are really like how they look on the surface? What is it, that is not catching my eyes? What is it I am missing to look at?

As he thought more, the only result he ever got was an unbearable headache.

Shirley noticed black shallow of death becoming motionless, in his own world, searching for the answers, not knowing, the question itself is wrong from the beginning.

But what Shirley doesn't know is, it's not the question at fault, it's the way they are seeing it, it's the way they are approaching it.

Answers always lie around the question with an invisible barrier. All you have to do is think differently. 

Phew~ Sighing out heavily, she continued, " I asked you a question. Is she alive or dead? " She repeated it, her anger once again spiking up to no bounds. According to her, killing that girl is absurd. She was a talented assassin. Only two to three corrections needed to make her a perfect and fit assassin. Yet, here their boss, plucked a blossoming flower without a proper reason to begin everything with.

Black shallow sighed out loud and just nodded not trying to say anything. Shirley's anger spiked up and she suddenly slammed the table in front of her. That is just absurd. How can their boss do that? 

She was about to say it out loud, but another thought came to her mind. What if boss had a reason to do that? Their boss maybe very absurd and killed the people who didn't follow , but he wouldn't go on mindless killing. 

They too, as the members weren't taught to kill someone without a valid reason. If they are a threat, then they are qualified to die. 

So, there must be a solid reason as to why that girl was killed. What was the reason?

Shirley thought and averted her gaze to Black shallow of death. 

Should I ask? Will he answer?

Shirley was having second thoughts on asking the person in front of her. 

Her words made black shallow of death to hit back to reality, finally deciding to answer her previous question, " She is killed. I should have been here. If I was here, I would have avoided it at all costs. " He replied, still hurt for not saving his subordinates. That girl is very cheerful, never ever in his dreams he thought her life would be this short.

It's truth, when the mission regarding Marquess is going on, black shallow of death isn't in capital. He had to go out for another mission, so there is no one to give an helping hand to the girl. 

Shirley smirked at this response, " Wow, the lapdog is saying something unexpected. You talking back to the boss. Am I mishearing something? Too bad, such a rare opportunity, but you were not there to save her. Or could it be that, you are dreaming all this while and thinking you would do such a thing in your dreams? She is killed for being loyal to you, what a pity. "

Her words surely shot up his anger, roaring back, " Shirley. I value my comrades lives alot. And being loyal isn't the reason for getting her killed. If thats the reason, then black wolf also would be dead by now, "He said, still figuring out things, while speaking logic to Shirley.

A crease formed between Shirley's forehead, " What do you mean by that? "

" Literal meaning, " He spoke.

From his intel report, the girl who is killed by their master openly, in front of everyone is being suspicious before she got killed. She didn't act like her usual behavior. And the way she got killed is like their master leaving a hidden message and openly declaring to others that this will be the result if someone tried to mess with her.

" We are missing something after investigating all these years. So you mean she found out what is boss hiding? " Shirley spoke black shallow of death's inner thoughts.

Black shallow of death nodded his head lightly, " Right now I could only guess or assume. I don't have any proofs to prove anything. I could only follow what my heart says, but I should justify Olivia's death. " His face saddened once again mentioning Olivia's name and about her unjustified murder by their own master.

We are missing the main piece in fixing the puzzle. Where is it? How could we find that? What is it actually?
