Reborn: The Unexpected Twist

"Pretending to be angry and disappointed at you will let them drop their guards for a while," Dowon voiced out. "Even I can not directly challenge Lee Minjoon's power."

Understanding Dowon, Jinhee nodded.

A big, bright smile appeared on her face as she asked, "So, are you not angry at me?"

"I want to throw this pen at you, but I'm resisting," Dowon voiced out with a glare directed at her way. Jinhee gulped; Dowon was truly scary.

"How unaware of your surroundings are you? Didn't I warn you to be at guard at all times?" Dowon scolded.

"Grandpa Dowon, can't you cut me some slack? I still an inexperienced teen after all!" Jinhee pouted.

"That's true," Dowon replied. "Maybe I should get you engaged to that Taeho. He'll be efficient in keeping you safe."

A frown appeared on Jinhee's face hearing that. Not that she doubted Lee Dowon's judging skills when it came to human, she was surprised on how he earned his trust. Most definitely, a man like Han Taeho would appear sketchy to Lee Jinhee.

"Grandpa, don't you think it's too suspicious for a man like Han Taeho to agree to get engaged to me?" Jinhee questioned, wearing a serious expression.

Although she recalled Taehee's words from the other day, she still wanted to be careful about the entire matter. 

"What man like Han Taeho? Both of you definitely suit each other. That man won't mistreat you, and if something goes wrong, you still have me," Dowon voiced out.

'Grandpa, you can't do anything against him.'

Nonetheless, warmth filled Jinhee's heart as she heard his words, and subconsciously, she just nodded. How could she disregard this in her previous life?

Dowon was present at the lunch today. No one dared to touch their meals for they sensed that Dowon had something important to discuss.

"Moonstone Enterprise requires an heir," Lee Dowon voiced out. 

Creases that appeared in between both of Minjoon's eyebrow did not miss Jinhee's eyes, and Jinhee could see the surprise on Minjoon's and Jiyoung's expression. Most definitely, they did not expect Dowon to go for this.

"Although Minjoon had the position of the CEO now, the shareholders and investor will soon enough ask for someone to take my position as the chairman. Therefore, I would want to test four of you since Minjoon or Daeho are not suitable for this position," Dowon spoke out nonchalantly.

Even Jinhee was surprised by his choice of words. She did not expect him to be this blunt about Minjoon's and Daeho's incompetence. 

"Chungae, Hyunki, Jinhee, and Jinkyung— the four of you will participate in this. Anyone who disagrees to will lose chances to be the heir," Dowon spoke out.

Although Jinhee stated that she did not want to be involved with the business, it would look too suspicious and unfair if she was not involved.

Since it was about choosing a heir, Dowon had to do it fair and square in order to convince the shareholders, affiliates, and investors. Leaving out Jinhee would only turn out disadvantageous for the business.

"For your first task, I will go easy on you. Draw something suitable for spring, and theme is upon you. The design must be unique and not plagiarized. Hiring a professional artist is not allowed," Dowon expressed in a stern tone.

No opposition was shown to his words. For Hyunki, it was the door that led up to his dreams. On the other hand, it was gaining opponents for Jinkyung. Chungae and Jinhee was not bothered about it.

"Anyone who shows incompetence or signs of cheating at this will immediately be disqualified from the selection. You have a month worth of time to do so," Dowon stated.

The four of them nodded.

"Wouldn't this be too much of a hassle? Isn't Minjoon doing a fine job?" Lee Youngchul questioned whilst staring at Dowon.

"The business, although gradual for now, started to show decline, and I need someone appropriate for it. Minjoon is good at business affairs, but he lacks talent when it comes to fashion designing.

Anyone who possesses this talent in the next generation would bring advantages to Moonstone Enterprise. Everyone should be given a chance," Dowon said.

"Now, that my son is participating, none of you'll stand a chance!" Lee Yeeun, Hyunki's mother, exclaimed, earning disp.l.e.a.s.u.r.e from others.

Jinhee could see the small smile forming on Hyunki's face, and a sense of achievement passed over Jinhee.
