Reborn: The Unexpected Twist

Chapter 87 - On your knees

A mix between bored and serious expression sat on both of their faces as Jaehyun and Chaewon watched the television in front of them. Wordlessly, they stared with clear disinterest.

Couple of times, Chaewon's eyes were drawn to Jaehyun's side profile. She recalled the walk they had earlier today, and the conversations held between both of them. Jaehyun felt much more open than usual.

Chaewon cleared her throat.

"This movie doesn't seem to be your type," Chaewon voiced out.

"The acting is too unrealistic and stiff," Jaehyun voiced out, "Especially of the female lead."

After hearing Jaehyun's words, Chaewon stared at the television and understood his words. The female lead's acting did feel slightly awkward, but one wouldn't notice it that easily.

"You should have—"

Before Chaewon could continue, a scream from the kitchen was heard, and judging by the tone, the voice belonged to Jinhee.

Before Chaewon could properly process it, Jaehyun ran towards the direction of the kitchen without listening to Chaewon's sentence completely or sparing her a glance.

The look on Jaehyun's face caused ache to Chaewon's heart, and a bitter feeling within her arose although Chaewon reminded herself that it is wrong.

Calming down her thoughts, Chaewon got down from the bed and followed after Jaehyun, somewhat worried about what might have happened.

°°°

Upon arriving at the kitchen, Jaehyun was met with scene of Jinhee sitting down on the floor while Taehee laughed. The packet of popcorn kernel sat on the kitchen table, and Jinhee had caramel and butter over her body.

"What happened here?" Jaehyun questioned while arching his eyebrows.

Glaring at the Taehee, who stood in front of her, Jinhee voiced out, "Someone was being a child."

"And someone was being a coward," Taehee added.

The horrifying dialogues and screams reached Jinhee's ears earlier, and that's when, Taehee switched off the light. Startled, the butter in Jinhee's hand fell down.

When she heard another noise from the television, she was going to take her phone to turn on the flashlight. However, that is when Jinhee slipped on a piece of butter and fell down.

As she was about to hold the table for support, the caramel bottle, which was open, fell down. The sweet liquid dripped down her face.

Her waist hurt terribly, and she had no strength to get up. Taehee was solely in fault for this; She is truly an evil incarnate.

Jaehyun slapped the back of Taehee's head hardly and spoke out, "You've gone too far this time."

Taehee's laughing immediately stopped, and her expression was replaced with worry when she noticed Jinhee's pain filled face. Guilt stabbed her, and Taehee too realised she had gone too far.

Before Taehee could pick Jinhee up, Jaehyun bent down and carried her in a bridal style. Securing Jinhee in her arms, Jaehyun stood up, and Jinhee's eyes, that glared at Taehee, made Taehee feel more guilty.

"I'm sor—"

Before Taehee could complete her sentence, Jaehyun walked out of the room, and Taehee stared at the ground, letting out a sigh. She should really dim down with her actions at times.

°°°

The pain in her back decreased by a lot as Jinhee walked out of the washroom, dressed in Taehee's clothes. Although Taehee's clothes were big on her, she had no other options.

Surprise caught her when she was engulfed into a hug, and her eyes widened. Realising that it was Taehee, Jinhee tried to move away from her, but Taehee's hold on her was too strong.

"I'm sorry, Jinhee-ah," Taehee said, "My prank this time was too serious, and I didn't think things would end up this way. I'm really sorry; I didn't want to hurt you."

Jinhee gave no reply and just continued to listen.

"I promise that I'll accept any punishments you give me," Taehee stated.

Jinhee could notice how melancholic and guilty Taehee felt from her tone. Her heart couldn't help but soften. She could give Taehee one last chance after all Taehee did.

"You'd have to listen to all of my orders for ten days," Jinhee voiced out whilst pulling herself out from the hug.

"Jinhee-ah," Taehee w.h.i.n.ed with a pout forming on her face.

"All those words you said about accepting any punishment from me was just you bluffing I suppose." Jinhee threw Taehee's previous words right at her.

"I meant that I would be glad to. So, don't be angry anymore," Taehee said, pinching Jinhee's cheeks.

Turning towards Taehee with a smirk, many evil ideas ran inside Jinhee's mind. Now that she had finally gotten the chance to, she should exploit it to her use.

"Really? How can I know that you're not bluffing?" Jinhee arched her brow.

"You can test me now if you want to," Taehee replied with a friendly smile.

"If that's the case, then get on your knees and apologize to me," Jinhee commanded, interested in seeing what Taehee would do now.
