Reborn: The Unexpected Twist

Chapter 97 - Powerless

Her long, blond hair was tied up into a ponytail by a pink hairband, which had a similar coloured bow attached to it. The cutesy face of hers made her look pleasing and innocent to the others. One sweet smile of hers was enough to get many on her side.

Contrary to that sweet smile, vicious smirk played on her face whilst her eyes showed amus.e.m.e.nt. Instead of looking like an innocent princess, she looked like an evil queen who had defeated her enemy at this moment.

The aura, radiating superiority, was given off by her at that moment, and it was enough to instill fear into many out there.

Two lackeys stood beside her, and both of their faces held no expression. Jinhee's body leaned against the wall, and apprehension clouded her eyes as she stared at the ground.

Blood stain was present at the corner of her lips, and her hair was already in a mess. Both of her legs were almost about to give up.

One of the lackeys raised her head up, and as Jinhee turned to look at that lackey, the hand rested upon her cheek. The loud sound resonated into Kwon Youngmi's ear, making her feel joy.

Jinhee's face turned sideways because of the strong impact, and her legs stumbled. Balancing herself, she raised her head to see Youngmi stepping towards her.

The smirk on Youngmi's face grew wider whilst her eyes showed loathe as they stared upon Jinhee. Moving her face closer to Jinhee, Youngmi voiced out, "Look at how pathetic you are. Jaehyun Oppa would push you away the moment he sees you like this."

The girl chuckled.

"Kwon Youngmi, surely you'll meet your retribution for this," Jinhee spatted with all the strength and courage she could muster up at that moment.

Raising her fist up, Jinhee was about to punch Youngmi when, unfortunately, one of her lackeys stepped forward and help Jinhee wrist in order to stop her.

Youngmi took a few steps back as she watched her lackey slam the tiled wall with the back of Jinhee's head, creating a harsh noise.

Her struggles showed no fruit, and Jinhee wouldn't release herself out of the lackey's grip no matter how much effort she put in.

A cry left her mouth when her head hit the wall for the last time. After that, the lackey turned her body against her will and pushed her forehead against the wall.

A splitting headache went through her head as Jinhee felt her forehead being banged against the tiles constantly.

After a while, the lackey loosened her grip on Jinhee, and Jinhee immediately fell down on the ground whilst holding her forehead.

Warm liquid dripped down her forehead, and when Jinhee touched her forehead, she was shocked to see the red colour on her hand.

She heard footsteps nearing to her, and within a fraction of a second, an excruciating pain went through her right palm when Kwon Youngmi pressed her heels on it with her utmost strength.

Jinhee let out a yell at the pain, and tears kept on falling down her eyes. As Youngmi's heel dug deeper into her palm, Jinhee felt as if her bones were being crushed, and she let out another scream of pain.

Bending down to Jinhee's height, Kwon Youngmi voiced out, "Know your limits from next time onwards. Jaehyun Oppa isn't someone your filthy hands can touch."

°°°

Jinhee felt her body getting colder, and her heart started to palpitate at a faster rate at the thought of Kwon Youngmi.

All the torments inflicted by her on Jinhee became vivid to her, and she couldn't help but shiver. Most of the worst memories in her life had Youngmi in it.

Youngmi was smarter and more powerful than Lee Jinkyung. Her connections were widespread, and getting away with anything was easy for her.

Out of Kim Jaehyun's all admirers, she was the most obsessive one, and the fact that she was a psychopath wasn't unknown to Lee Jinhee.

Nonetheless, this was too soon for return. In her last life, Youngmi arrived at South Korea much later; It was when Jinhee and Jaehyun got into a relationship.

However, in this life of hers, she tried to keep away from Jaehyun as much as possible, and there were no rumours on the two of them, except for the one in Japan.

Nonetheless, that wasn't enough to personally make Kwon Youngmi come to South Korea. There must be some other factor behind it.

'There was no rumour Jaehyun had with other girls during this time. So, why was this Kwon Youngmi back?'

Fear sat at her eyes as she raised her head from the screen and stared at Han Taeho. His face held an unreadable expression.

"Accept my offer. You're the girl who had been closest to him, and if Kwon Youngmi returns, you'll be powerless against her. I can protect you if agree to be my fiancé."

Han Taeho's offer seemed to be advantageous to Jinhee. Not only will she be provided with protection against Kwon Youngmi, but also this arrangement is temporary.

Nonetheless, the fact that it is so advantageous was why it seemed skeptical to Jinhee.

'Surely a man like Han Taeho has some motives behind it; He would not be charitable enough to help a stranger to this extent.'

What was more suspicious is how he was aware about the fact that Jinhee knew Youngmi. At this point in her life, even if someone does a thorough investigation, there is no connection between her and Youngmi.

'Who was actually this Han Taeho?'

"How do you know all these?" Jinhee questioned.
