Redeeming The Sins Of Xu Rouguang [BL]

Chapter 11 - Why Should I Save a Fallen Man?

"How unbecoming."

When this voice echoed in his head, Brother Blue trembled. He stopped his movements and looked around in fear. Left and right—he searched for a familiar figure or anyone he could blame for the voice. It was a woman's voice, and a woman shouldn't venture out here on her own. Besides, he accounted for all the presences around them. There were forty-two lumps of qi, and it represented all that was here. This woman's voice was truly bizarre.

However, unlike him, the rest didn't know that the voice echoed in their heads. They believed that someone tangible had spoken to them. They flung their bodies just to seek for this presumptuous woman who would stop their general from acting.

Right at this moment, Lai Mingjie took off as fast as he could. Brother Blue noticed him and lashed at his leg, taking him down again. However, before he fell down, light converged in front of him and condensed into a form of a woman. She caught Lai Mingjie with her arms, his face landing on her c.h.e.s.t. This gave the immortals a good view of her face. Her eyes were closed, and her pitch-black hair sprawled gracefully in the wind. Her lips were shaped to perfection, as well as her face.

She was the most beautiful woman they all had ever seen, and the vilest of them would even think of defiling her. Such a magnificent flower suddenly bloomed in front of them, and she was only wearing a white dress.

It looked so wrong. The woman was too composed like she was basking under the sun in a cool spring day. Her jade skin peeked from under Lai Mingjie's bloodied body. It was so smooth; they all wanted to touch and pinch her skin.

Lai Mingjie froze at the touch. He couldn't even feel any kind of presence from the woman. She couldn't be identified as a human, an immortal, or even a demon. She just appeared out of nowhere like a ghost. However, a name was being screamed from the depths of his guts. He grew scared of touching her, soiling her of his blood.

The woman simply let down the wounded man, but she slid her hand under his jaw, keeping him from hiding his face from her. She finally smiled and opened her eyes; clarity somewhat drowning Lai Mingjie's wish to escape. "Emodao, it seemed that you had grown a lot stronger life after life. I wished for all my follower to learn to steel their minds as well."

"You gotta be kidding me..." Lai Mingjie widened his eyes as he confirmed his wild guess. He then gritted his teeth that were reddened by blood. "What are you doing down here... Nuwa?"

"Nuwa...? G-Goddess—?" Brother Blue paled as he stepped back. Everyone else was still bewildered, but the thought of seeing Nuwa for the first time made them scared rather than honored.

Truly, they had reasons to be afraid. Nuwa let go of Lai Mingjie and cast her gaze at Brother Blue and the rest of the immortals. "General Radiant Serpent East of the second battalion, do you know what had become of your senior, General Xu Rouguang of the first battalion?"

Lai Mingjie trembled. He was right: Xu Rouguang did anger the goddess. Brother Blue couldn't fully shake his head. As much as he knew, Xu Rouguang had been sentenced to death by Nuwa herself. The jealous generals had celebrated that day and hadn't heard of him for centuries. Bringing his name up made Brother Blue prostrate on the ground.

"Goddess Nuwa, please! I... I haven't violated any rules of Heaven! Why am I being punished?" He bit into his lip. He was not hurting humans; he was playing with Emodao—a banished and resurrected demon king.

"Perhaps... but you were unbecoming of a man of virtue." Her facial expression didn't change, but everyone felt the chill in her voice. "You found p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e in violence against those who cannot fight. I am disappointed." She reached out her hand. "Go home to your father in the East Sea and repent against this behavior. You are not welcome in the mortal realm until you cease your insolence. You and your immortal brethren are therefore condemned to temperance until your recovery."

"Recovery?" Brother Blue lifted his head at her last word. What did she mean by recovery?

He didn't have to spend another second thinking as Nuwa struck out a palm strike. She gently and gracefully moved her hand forward. The sharp wind pushed against all of them and sent them flying before crashing into another wind wall behind them. Most of them broke a lot of bones in their bodies while everyone vomited blood simultaneously. Their bodies couldn't maintain the mortal forms anymore, and so they vanished back into heaven.

Nuwa only fluttered her lashes before looking down at Emodao. He was now looking at his hands which were covered with blood. However, her touch had reformed his body to its prime... as if he was never attacked by Brother Blue. He paid no attention to Nuwa while murmuring to himself. It was the same sensation he felt after waking up that morning.

"You must be confused, Emodao." Nuwa straightened and stood next to Emodao. Lai Mingjie hesitated in lifting his face, trying not to infuriate the goddess. He was a demon king, and he loathed gods and immortals the most. However, when faced with its supreme leader, he cowered under her gaze. She didn't need to ask anyone else to send him into a deeper kind of living hell. "Rise. This one had some words to be spoken."

"...okay. Why are you here?" Lai Mingjie only felt comfortable to get back to his feet when Nuwa walked away from him. He watched her waved her hand and cleared the blood from the site of torture. "Did you lead Xu Rouguang to me?"

"Not at all. I sent Xu Rouguang to the abyss, and he crawled back into the mortal realm himself. In exchange for so many things from him." Nuwa didn't look at him; she only gazed at the noontime view of the harbor.

"Hah, he probably did so because you left the door open." Lai Mingjie twitched his mouth. He knew it was impossible for anyone to come back from the abyss... where all the qi inside and outside the body would be dissolved. Perhaps he only suffered from a few dissolutions before escaping.

"I had to teach Xu Rouguang some things that he had forgotten." Nuwa didn't bother with Emodao's mouth. She then turned to the demon king. "Emodao, I suppose a little quest would be sufficed to entertain you in this lifetime. I need you to help Xu Rouguang recover the memories he accidentally shattered upon his arrival to the mortal realm. Save him from his utter devastation."

"Ha?" Emodao frowned. "Why should I save a fallen man? I don't even like the guy to begin with."

"Ah, yes, the reward." Nuwa smiled, and her expression had become rather breathtaking—even for Emodao who loathed women. However, her smile was freezing to the heart. "Emodao... I shall grant you with something you'd want the most... in every life you had spent down here in the mortal realm." She turned her head to face the demon. "One chance...

"One free chance to spill blood." Lai Mingjie's eyes widened in anticipation. "One chance to kill."
