Redeeming The Sins Of Xu Rouguang [BL]

The winter wind blew all over the city once again for the night. Xu Rouguang was still standing at the highest peak of JT, monitoring everything that was happening all over the city. Around twenty cases had been prevented while ten more were concluded. The humans who saw them got their memories altered by someone who had such ability in every squad that roamed the streets like ghosts.

Soon, he was joined by six more figures at the top; the six figures didn't even dare make a noise. However, Xu Rouguang knew that they were there the very minute they came. The deathless general cast his emotionless eyes at them after a few seconds. "Thank you for coming."

His words were of gratitude, but his gaze was as cold as the coldest regions of heaven. Each of the six figures inevitably looked up at him as their platform was lower than the one Xu Rouguang was standing at. Even if they loathed the idea of him looking down upon them, none of them would deny that Xu Rouguang still remained to be the strongest among them.

The wild Easterlies blew harder at a higher altitude. Xu Rouguang's hair danced wildly as well as the hems of his jacket, and yet the rest of his body seemed unmoving. He stood before all of them like an unrivaled god none would dare anger.

The one who arrived first soon huffed through his teeth. "General Xu, weren't you protecting the demons? Why did you suddenly ask for us to kill them?" His sharp eyes were surely confused, but he still obliged nonetheless. "Are you breaking ties with Emodao now?"

"Breaking ties? What made you think so?" Xu Rouguang narrowed his eyes which shifted to General Qilin in an instant. "Killing these demons that were affected by vile energy didn't mean I'm waging war against the demons. It simply meant that they were overstepping their boundaries. Did you ask your troops to slay demons who were clearly conscious of their states?"

"No." General Qilin gritted his teeth. He would act arrogant and admit that he thought of doing so, but he decided to reserve the idea. He had fought against Xu Rouguang once, and he knew how easy it was for him to dispatch the tiger immortal.

"General Xu, what exactly are we dealing with here? And where is Brother Blue?" Another spoke, looking around for the one handling the second battalion. He was supposed to be the only one taking orders directly from Xu Rouguang, and he had the audacity to skip?

"Something is poisoning the demonkind and using them to implicate on humans." Xu Rouguang spared General Qilin the glare and mellowed his gaze to be void of emotion. "For now, I have reasons to believe that they would only lose their minds when the yin is the strongest... meaning nighttime. During the daytime, I would be collecting any data that could give me more insight into this. You only have to come help when the skies turn dark.

"As for Serpent East, I sent him out on a mission. He's not allowed to return without concrete answers and conclusions."

The generals exchanged gazes aside from General Liu who didn't even dare look when Xu Rouguang turned to them already. However, she bit her lower lip and forced herself to meet the eyes of the deathless general. With a hesitant and forced smile, she spoke with a feigned sweetness, "M-Master, t-this servant wanted to share something."

If Xu Rouguang could drop the act and tilt his head to the side with a very clueless expression, he would. What's with that kind of address? Why was she talking like an admirer? Despite the inward reaction, Xu Rouguang only looked at her face that was red from humiliation.

Liu Xia didn't know Xu Rouguang had no memories. She could only chance his mood and forced herself to play a long-standing wager that the deathless general won. From the day that Xu Rouguang proved that she wasn't the best tormentor of heaven, she had to address him 'Master' and would have to behave like a sweetheart towards him. Accepting her defeat and proving that she could play even if she couldn't win, Liu Xia stayed true to the consequences.

No one, aside from the two—actually three, knew about their wager. Everyone else was quite conflicted whenever they caught Liu Xia talking about Xu Rouguang with utmost hatred. She normally got the response regarding her supposed crush on the deathless general so Liu Xia ended up not talking about him as much as she could. She kept up with the consequence and the secret loathing. What she didn't know was that those terms were words Severed Glacier put on Xu Rouguang's mouth. The lieutenant general was just annoyed by her and wanted her to suffer from the defeat. Xu Rouguang just wanted her to stop bothering him.

"Speak."

"You see, when we cleared a few demons earlier, I noticed that they smell different from normal demons. There's something pungent about them." Liu Xia began twirling the edges of her hair. She lowered her head and glared at the floor with resentment. "Also, I found a weird residue at one of them. It seemed to be from a weird pill."

Xu Rouguang's eyes widened as he struggled to keep his gratefulness to himself. He instantly reined his emotions back and dropped from the peak to stand on the same platform as them. Walking towards the other generals, Xu Rouguang ignored how the others stepped back as if unwilling to enter his personal space. It was proven to be lethal after all.

Since Liu Xia had her head down, it was too late for her to notice that Xu Rouguang had gone close to her. The moment she lifted her horrified face, he was already standing in front of her. Due to the horror that froze her, she didn't have the time to evade Xu Rouguang's hand when it came.

In her eyes, she was about to be hit. However, Xu Rouguang just reached out to pet the small lady. His eyes noticeably grew warmer as an elusive small smile curled his lips. "Excellent. Can you find me that pill?"

To be honest, no one could blame Xu Rouguang. He had lost his memories which made him unable to recall their little wager. Also, Liu Xia was showing signs of a maiden trying to gain the affection of her conquest. A lot of maidens in JT were doing the same to him, but he could only be polite and kind in turning them down.

Liu Xia's case was different. Her 'affection' was a ticket to making her do things with a little more loyalty... just like how fear worked for everyone else. Since a maiden's feelings were fragile, he had to be really careful with them. He had no idea that it was just punishment rather a real expression of her heart.

Not to mention that Liu Xia looked like a child to Xu Rouguang.

If Liu Xia could cough up blood right at Xu Rouguang's face, she would mix her blood with acid. She felt her whole body convulse as she felt like being wronged by the deathless general for some reason. They were standing in the company of the commanders of the battalions, and he c.a.r.e.s.sed her head like she was a sweet child? Why was he torturing her all of a sudden?

However, Liu Xia couldn't act on it, making her mind throw its hands up and give up. Such a very charming smile was enough for anyone to swoon—but not Liu Xia. The small lady ended up fainting with so much resentment in her bosom.

Xu Rouguang moved his arm and caught the lady's small frame. He then scooped her up and turned to General Qilin to make him carry her. His ice-cold eyes were back on his face. "Verify her claim. If you find the pill, the better." Upon leaving her with him, the deathless general turned into a light arrow and disappeared into the darkness of the city.
