Redeeming The Sins Of Xu Rouguang [BL]

Chapter 9 - You Think You Can Escape Me

A ball of freezing air condensed on Brother Blue's palm. It was headed towards Lai Mingjie's head as if trying to kill him. If he could kill Emodao even once, that would be a win for Brother Blue. Even if he could only cripple Emodao for this lifetime, he would still feel accomplished. Emodao had given him too much humiliation, and kicking him when he's already down wasn't a petty thing for Brother Blue. Right now, he had released one of his most vicious close-ranged attacks... hoping to cause long-term damage to Lai Mingjie.

However, upon reaching centimeters from Lai Mingjie's face, the ball of air dissipated. A warm barrier formed millimeters above the tip of his nose and stopped his palm from hitting Lai Mingjie. Better yet, the barrier flared so bad; Brother Blue yelped as he pulled his hand and body away. His palm had been scorched black.

The director felt the heat, but he wasn't burned. The barrier vanished as fast as it came, and the shock kept Brother Blue away. Lai Mingjie finally had the strength to roll away and draw out his stun gun. He pointed at the immortal and panted heavily. His body was still shaking from the pain, and the tremor on his hand had to be helped by his other hand.

"Don't make me shoot you!" Lai Mingjie growled as he tried to keep his aim straight. He knew how to use a real gun, but he wasn't allowed to bring a gun around. On top of it being illegal, he could use to kill a human. Nuwa thought it was inappropriate for this lifetime, and so he was warned against having one at hand unless he was in real danger.

"That's cute, Little Emodao. You think you can scare me with a toy?" Brother Blue launched himself forward as he got up and went to grab Lai Mingjie. His hand extended to grasp at the demon's neck and break it... when a little box flew from the end of the gun. It flew past Brother Blue's hand and latched directly onto his c.h.e.s.t. Without a second later, 10 milliamps hit him near the heart.

To immortals, getting hit with even 1 full amp of electricity wasn't anything fatal. However, he had assumed a mortal form, decreasing his power and resistance to nature. Also, it was launched near his heart, which paralyzed him in an instant. He might not be unconscious, but he was relieved of his ability to move.

Lai Mingjie would laugh at him, but it was more important to dislodge the used cartridge and run off to avoid getting caught again. He had always loved this stun gun and wondered if Brother Blue had never seen one yet. The immortals rarely harnessed the power of thunder and lightning while the humans could momentarily toast someone in a second. The attack couldn't be fatal to immortals, but it was very capable of bringing them down and immobilizing them for more than a minute.

Like what he had always done, he quickly called his father's guards and asked for assistance. While in the mortal realm, both demons and immortals were forbidden to harm humans... at least in public. As soon as he got to his bodyguards, he would be safe from those bullying immortals. Also, he would be able to secretly take them out with a real gun if ever they snuck past his guards in a private place. Then again, Brother Blue was a general. He would need more than his human guards and his small gun to deal with that guy.

Back at the alley, Brother Blue had already recovered, but there was scorch on his palm and on his c.h.e.s.t. He gritted his teeth in rage as he got up. His voice then boomed around him without him yelling: "Chase down that bastard for this general! Leave Emodao alive—I'll kill him myself!"

The concealed immortals in the area knew that Brother Blue, one of the strongest dragon immortals of the East Sea, had come to Crimson City after hearing the great demon king Emodao had been spotted here. Right now, he must have confronted the damn demon, but Emodao managed to escape him. They might fear Emodao, but they found Brother Blue a lot more terrifying at the moment. The dragon immortal had actual power that could kill them.

It was too easy to lock onto Lai Mingjie as he made his way towards the building he asked to be picked up from. As long as he made it out of the crowded streets, he would be safe. His speed was barely passable as he was a shrimp running around. The concealed immortals were faster than a car, and they would catch up with him in no time. He already spotted the black van of salvation, but someone jumped from the left. The person took down Lai Mingjie with him on the floor, pinning the director's head against the floor to keep him from screaming. More immortals came to seize him and take him further from his safe place.

Lai Mingjie managed to get his mouth uncovered, and he started yelling at those men. "Worthless immortals! Dogs! You think you could ascend to heaven just so you could bully us?"

"Emodao, you know we can't defy generals." One laughed as he enjoyed carrying the demon king. His catch was the demon king that once made the heaven tremble. If it wasn't for General Xu, who knew who would be running the world now? Personal grudges aside, the immortals carried the demon king to a vacated area near the city ports. Most people were kept away by those who pretended to be the military.

Lai Mingjie only looked on as he was getting taken away. He was only cussing and laughing in self-ridicule in his heart. Nuwa had given him an ultimatum: he shall die only after thirty years of his life. He had lived lives wherein he was crippled and paralyzed for years of his life. Thirty years—no more, no less. Even if he received a beating somewhere, he would always survive and be in massive pain in the remaining of his life. Lai Mingjie was only twenty-seven years old; he might have to suffer for the remaining three years.

They all gathered behind the cargo containers stacked in the port. Those who were only afraid of being implicated by Brother Blue had left; those who wanted to watch Emodao get tortured by Brother Blue stayed. How they wished this could have happened before! Then again, this time was a rather large-scale hunt because a general got involved. They were a little grateful Brother Blue came to Crimson City. If it was just them, Emodao could still shit on their heads.

Brother Blue kept on consoling his burnt palm as he walked in front of the demon king who was dumped on the floor. They didn't need for him to be restrained as there were mostly fifty of them, and Brother Blue was there as well. Brother Blue laughed out as he kicked and stepped on Lai Mingjie's head. "You really think you can escape me? That blue scarf might be able to save you from essence attacks, but we all know we could channel our strength to our feet and kick you to death, right?"

"Hah, all of you are just ballsy because one of you is a general. Strip off your rank, and let's see if you dare!" Lai Mingjie laughed out under pressure. He was a demon king; if he was mentally weak, he wouldn't have risen as one of the cruelest in history.

"Get me the whip. Let's see how much pain you can take without screaming now." Brother Blue backed off one step. "Come on, Little Emodao. Show me your crying face again."
