Reincarnated As God

Chapter 52 - The Burly Man

Meng Li followed after Ye Jian to his own room, which was at the top floor. He was confused as to why Ye Jian took the youth to the highest floor when his own room was far closer, but he would have to climb there first to get the answers.

When he entered his room, he saw the Ye Jian disregarded his messy bed and placed the unconscious youth on it. Of course, he swept the blankets aside first, otherwise that would be simply filthy.

"So, could you explain to me what the actual f.u.c.k just happened." Meng Li was so befuddled that not only did he swear, he practically forgot to phrase the sentence as a question.

"Not entirely sure, but I'm guessing that you stared at this guy and somehow, he became mad..." Ye Jian also was extremely confused about the matter. Inner demons were supposed to be extremely hard to get rid of and mysterious, and here, this young lad got one from being stared at... Was he retarded? This truly befuddled Ye Jian to no extent.

"Also, what's that inner demon you mentioned?" Meng Li had already heard of the term from the novels he had read, but all of them described the inner demon as something entirely different, and the most important thing was that the novels could very well be simply made up. As simple as that.

"Inner demons are usually created as a result of some traumatic experience in someone's life. That's the gist of it, but in truth, it's much more complicated... Even I can't say that I know for certain what they are." Ye Jian explained simply.

"So... This guy... Considers being stared at by me a traumatic experience???" Meng Li felt his confusion grow to levels he never thought were possible. How fragile was this guy? Simply staring at him for a prolonged period of time would probably lead to him coughing up blood!

"So... What did you bring him here for?" Meng Li continued asking. Ye Jian was simply staring at the youth with a frown on his face, deep in thought.

"Since you caused him that inner demon, we should also help him. His cultivation is quite high by the standards of this world, if we simply leave him he probably wouldn't be able to advance anymore." Ye Jian explained before pointing out some things to Meng Li.

"Look, this bracelet on his left hand is actually a spatial storage. Also, under his clothes, he wears a soft armour which can block blows up to the peak of the Qi Gathering Realm. Even the pin he uses to hold his hair is an expensive jade. This guy is a descendant of some large clan, for sure." Ye Jian explained his findings to Meng Li. As he explained, he pointed out the things he talked about. Meng Li constantly felt stupid at himself for not noticing those small details when Ye Jian pointed them out, as they seemed so obvious now. At the end, he had gained some experience in spotting details and would probably be able to pick out a rich young master from a crowd now... Quite an useful skill for a pickpocket.

When Ye Jian explained his thoughts to Meng Li, he too stood still for a while, staring at the young man in thought. However, a question soon popped up in his head, which he couldn't help but ask.

"So, how are you going to help him?"

"I don't know." the extremely simple answer stopped Meng Li in his tracks.

Now that he had some time to look at the young man, he was able to notice the beauty of the situation. The young man's face had a certain noble look to it, and combined with the details Ye Jian had pointed out, Meng Li could now see clearly that the young man was of a noble descent. The pose he was laying in was also quite beautiful - during the mental breakdown, the young man was grasping at his hair and it became untied - the one accessory used to tidy it up was only hanging on due to the hairs tangling around it. Thus, his hair was spread out over the bed, like blood spreading from a wound...

The beauty of the situation caused a sudden urge to emerge from within Meng Li - he wanted to paint the scene. The young man, stretched across the bed - Ye Jian, sat in contemplation around him - if it was painted, it would be like a parody of a reneissance painting. Thus, Meng Li quickly took out his painting equipment and began to paint.

Ye Jian took notice of the fact, but didn't move - either he was too deep in thought, or he noticed the utter strangeness of the situation and didn't want to destroy the utter masterpiece Meng Li's painting would be when it was finished.

Meng Li started to paint, his brush making broad strokes across the blank canvas. The seemingly random strokes started to join, slowly becoming a whole, as Meng Li decreased the size of his strokes, adding more details. The messy hair, the small hairpin tangled in it, the normally unnoticeable sheen of the soft armour showing slightly from under the young man's thick robes...

At the same time as Meng Li was painting, a burly man was making his way back to the inn hurriedly. He seemed anxious, as though he had a bad feeling about something. He burst into the inn with a bit too much strength, making all of the people inside gaze at him. The people were still chatting about the extremely weird incident that occurred in the inn merely a few minutes ago, and the man, with his keen hearing, was able to hear some of the conversations before the people stopped to look at him.

What he had heard had made him practically panic. The small, jade hairpin laying on the floor near the place Meng Li was sitting only amplified his worries. He couldn't help but grab a random person and practically yell at them.

"What happened here!?" the burly man shouted in the person's face, his spittle flying into the middle aged man's face. Although the middle aged man coiled back in disgust and fear, the burly man holding his shirt with a grip like an iron vice didn't let him go far back. He could only slowly describe the extremely strange incident which occurred within the inn. As he continued talking, the burly man grew increasingly more anxious, and his breath was already making the middle aged man he was holding recoil even more.

At the end, when the burly man heard that the young man actually fainted and was taken upstairs by two men, he seemed to turn into an enraged bull. His mouth was closed, but through his nose, he was taking extremely deep breaths, which actually produced streams of mist when he breathed out. He quickly threw away the miserable middle aged man who hurried to clean his face and rushed upwards. He was opening random doors constantly - with his cultivation at the middle of the Qi Sea Realm, he was able to force all of the doors open, regardless if they were locked or not.

In the time it took the burly man to interrogate a random person, Ye Jian was finishing the painting. However, no matter how much detail he added, he still felt that the painting wasn't totally accurate even when it came to form. Something was missing, and that something wasn't the essence of the subject... He had already narrowed down the inaccuracy. It wasn't Ye Jian - the version of Ye Jian he painted was accurate, though it didn't contain the essence. The inaccuracy laid within the young man... Meng Li studied the young man closely and slowly came to a shocking conclusion.

Triumphantly, Meng Li took his brush and corrected the final inaccuracy before he realised what it entailed. However, before the realisation hit him, the door to his room was abruptly forced open.

Ye Jian and Meng Li both looked over to the door with frowns on their faces, since the person who opened the door had intruded on their private room. What they saw was a truly strange sight - an extremely burly man whose face was akin to a bull's, was standing in the door, currently bulging his eyes at the sight within.

Meng Li, in the absent minded state he was while painting, could only silently comment that the man only lacked a nose ring to be completely like a bull.

The burly man, on the other hand, saw an extremely strange sight once he opened the door. His young master was laying at the bed haphazardly, with his hair strewn out and with his limb thrown randomly around him. On the other hand, the extremely strange sight were the two man sitting near the bed - one was sitting, slouched over, his eyes glued to the young man in the bed, and his pose veritably shouted 'I'm thinking!', like he was comprehending the secrets of heaven and earth.

The other young man, dressed completely in white, with long black hair over his shoulders, was sitting before a canvas, adding final brush strokes to an incredibly well painted scene of the young man laying on the bed and the other young man, sitting near it.

It was truly an incredibly comical sight, and the man wouldn't be able to resist howling with laugher if the young man on the bed weren't his young master.

"Young master!" the man remembered what he came here for after a few seconds of staring, and shouted. At the same moment, he shot out running towards the bed, with huge leaps. He would be by the young man's side in less than a second, and Meng Li didn't know what to do about this fact. However, at the final moment before the man reached the bed, Ye Jian stood up and used his fingers to jab at the burly man's neck. Although the burly man sensed his action and was on guard against Ye Jian and Meng Li, Ye Jian's jab was much faster than the man expected, which let Ye Jian stab his fingers into the base of his neck.

Immediately after Ye Jian stabbed his finger into his neck, the man's body seemed to suddenly become limp and start dropping. However, due to his momentum, he was on the verge of crashing into the bed the young man was laying on. With superhuman reaction speed, Ye Jian quickly caught him before he completely destroyed the bed, but didn't take care to protect the man from injury, and so, after the burly man woke up, he would have quite a lot of bruises due to his intimate meeting with the floor.

"What was that for?" Meng Li asked, completely forgetting his painting.

Meng Li wanted to answer, but thinking about the situation, what Ye Jian did truly was justified... At least he didn't completely beat the man up, and simply rendered him unconscious. However, Meng Li suddenly became curious as to how Ye Jian was able to do what he just did.

"So, how did you do that then?" he asked.

"Acupuncture. It's practically useless in a fight unless you have practically perfect knowledge of acupuncture and your opponent doesn't expect it. After all, if you can reach someone's neck in a real fight, you wouldn't really need it, right?" Ye Jian explained to Meng Li what he used. The concept of acupuncture was something Meng Li has heard of, but it didn't really occur to him that acupuncture could be used in such a way.

However, due to Ye Jian's actions, they now had not one, but two unconscious people in Meng Li's room, and they weren't sure at all what to do with them...
