Chapter 100 - 98: Deadman Wonderland Side Part 8

Step, step, step.

Yep. That's the sound of footsteps. What? I can't describe it any clearer, can I?

"To all of you new inmates, I will be taking care of you from today." A woman walked in front of us and spoke, "I am Makina, the chief warden. Pleased to meet you."

Makina is a young, attractive woman. She has noticeably large brėȧsts with long, dark-brown hair kept in her prison hat, with one lock of hair hanging right off her face. She has dark-blue eyes, and she sports glossy nude pink lipstick. She currently wore her prison uniform, which is dark-blue, with a matching hat. Her pants are white, and she has black knee-length boots that are high-heeled.

"You are Fuutarou." She stated as she walked in front of me, causing several gasps of shock from the other prisoners, "You have a gentler face than I expected."

"Hm? This is the first time I've been told that I have a gentle face." I replied.

"Really? Well, it's too late to change attitudes after being sentenced to death."

"I never change. Not for authority, not for circumstances, and certainly not from death."

"...I see. You have quite a tongue, don't you?" Makina commented as he walked back to the first person in line, "As many of you probably know, Deadman wonderland is a unique prison. A unique monitoring system that comes with the complete public operation, unification of the prison and detention areas, and tourism in effect for reviving Tokyo."

"We are in business using shows and attractions run by you, the inmates. That is all. Any questions?"

As the rest of my fellow inmates murmured about something like being unable to get bored in this place, a bolder criminal asked, "What's your cup size?"

"G."

That one letter just caused the rest of the prisoners to drool uncontrollably. I wonder if Shouko or Kaori would be able to grow to that size...

They say girls go through puberty early but looking at their 13-year-old figure...I would guess not. How unfortunate.

But don't worry, Shou-chan! Kaori-chan! No matter your figure, I'll always love you girls!

"Your bags have the bȧrė requirements for your life here. Now, those necklets of yours-"

But before she could finish her sentence, something bumped me, causing me to drop whatever I was holding.

"I'm sorry! Are you alright?" A boy asked with a worried expression behind the troller that he just bumped me with. He was a slim, medium-sized boy with taupe hair that hung over his left eye. He wears a standard prison uniform, and his eyes are light gray.

"Hey, you. With the cart. You'll be forgiven if you turn out what you just stole." Makina pointed at the boy with a sharp glint in her eyes.

"Huh? No, I couldn't see clearly..."

"If you won't release it, then pay the price." Without warning, Makina unsheathed her sword by her hɨps and did an upward diagonal slash that almost sliced open his neck.

"ARGHHHH!"

I hurriedly placed the injured guy's on my visible arm, but the hidden arm behind the boy took back everything that he stole from me and more.

I'm not that nice, especially in a place filled with nothing but criminals and sadists. I already knew that he stole from me from the beginning, but before I could do anything, Makina had already questioned him.

If she really knew that I was robbed, then that was pretty impressive. But most likely, it was just a plan to scare the new recruits into submission. The victim was probably well compensated too.

[A/N: Btw, I have already forgotten this part. I don't know whether Yō Takami actually worked to scare the newbies to gain more candies, but I just ȧssumed so.]

Of course, being the nice guy I am, I acted in tune with them and got my compensation.

And sure enough, I didn't get caught as I hurried back to my place in line as some of the other officers behind Makina went ahead to do first aid as they waited for the paramedic squad to arrive.

"That necklet acts as an ID, stun device, GPS, and other safety features." Continuing as though nothing had happened, Makina raised one foot and stepped on the poor boy's head, "Reality is made to be unfair and unjust."

Yep, yep. I agree. If reality was fair, I wouldn't be here in the first place.

After this amazingly "nice" and "friendly" introduction, we were escorted back to our prison cells.

Examining the room, I realized there wasn't any CCTV in the corner monitoring our rooms. I guess the necklets around my neck acts as a GPS marker so well that we don't need any other security details anymore, huh?

Man, this sucks. Now that I'm here, what should I do? Or better yet, where should I go first?

I'm so bored and incredibly lonely...I spent nine years alone in this hell of a world. I have friends, but I know this was just a "trial" and is not "real".

I miss my friends from my world. I miss my parents. I miss my sisters. Most importantly, I miss Shouko. I miss Kaori.

Nine years, and I still don't know how long it would continue to take. I don't know how my family is doing already. If I had known it would take more than nine years to complete even one trial, I would have never taken it.

"Should I just die and give up on this trial? To begin with, how do I even give up on this trial?"

The only openings in this room are the front metal door and a window with metal grates that nobody would be able to break past.

BOOM! CRASH!

And, for the second time in one week, a few scratches appeared on my forearm as I attempted to block the glass shards from my face.

"If you want to die, I'll kill you for you!"

HOLY SHIET! Another psycho chick is here!

I hurriedly dodged to the side as my tails instinctively popped up and captured her close to me. Her hand had a glass shard ready to stab me anytime.

"Why did you dodge it?"

"S-Shiro?"

She still had her snow-white hair, pale skin, and red eyes, but instead of a typical dress, she was in a white, skintight bodysuit decorated with red circles and stripes and with her toes and heels sticking out, accentuating her figure. She also wore big brown mittens and a white neck warmer.

My tails retreated after I saw her calm down, releasing her from my grasps. But she didn't stop there.

She raised a hand towards me and hugged me, straddling me in the process while she placed her ear on my ċhėst.

"-Oh! 'Should I die' is a lie!" Shiro grinned as she announced, patting my ċhėst with her mittens with a soft "poof" sound, "That's what 'here' says!"

GROWLLLL

That's not the enemy. Well, unless you count my stomach an enemy.

"See? It growls!" Shiro laughed out loud as she pointed at me.

"Is that what you meant?" Unable to help it, I also laughed, "What has that got to do with you anyway?"

"It has a lot to do with me." Shiro approached closer to me as she replied, "Because Fuutarou and Shiro are 'friends'."

Cupping her face and feeling the familiar soft cheeks that I used to pinch a lot, I couldn't help but smile, "Yes. Fuutarou and Shiro are friends."

"Hehehe!"

"Hey, you!" A woman suddenly walked into my cell and spoke, "Block A is out for activities! Hurry and get to the..."

"What is this?" Stepping on a glass shard that Shiro had broken, she asked.

"Oh, sorry, Shiro did-" I stopped my sentence halfway as I noticed Shiro, who was straddling me, suddenly disappeared.

"Huh?"

You're as fast as always, huh, Shiro?

Outside, under the scorching hot sun, I pushed a wheelbarrow carrying some blocks of stones and concretes. Unlike the stereotypical prison uniform, which consists of black and white stripes and loose clothing, the uniform is tight as hell.

A one-piece uniform green in color and the symbol of Deadman Wonderland etched onto the ċhėst, the uniform was rather...revealing. Especially if you have a large...ahem.

The only girl I saw here was Shiro, and- speak of the devil.

The mancover suddenly opened up from the floor. No, the mancover flew to the air and landed on the floor with a huge bang, revealing a dirtied Shiro.

"Found Fuutarou!" Shiro cheered as she climbed out of the drain and handed me a half-eaten cookie.

"A cookie?"

"See! It tastes better to eat with 'friends'!" Shiro smiled, "Let's eat, Fuutarou!"

Receiving the half-eaten cookie, I smiled, "Thank-"

BANG!

Wow, a lot of people have been interrupting my monologues and dialogues nowadays. Can't someone get a break?

As it turns out, the thing that hit me from behind my back was a helmet. It wasn't particularly heavy or strong, so I didn't feel much pain from it. But it doesn't mean that I don't feel pissed.

"Hey, what are you doing playing around with a woman, huh?!" A man with a weird hairstyle aggressively asked with a shovel in his hand, seemingly wanting to look intimidating, "Hm? Is he new?"

"Hey, he's..." One of his sidekicks apparently recognized me from my "fame" and spoke uneasily, "Isn't he Nagano's 'Youth A'?"

"Oh, that! You're famous! You killed a lot of your friends, right? Everybody said that they wanted you to die! How's it feel being on death row?" The man with a shovel mocked as he pointed a finger at me.

Grinning viciously, I took his finger and gripped it hard.

"You've got it wrong. I never kill my friends. And being on death row feels fantastic. I get to do anything I want without consequences since I'm going to die either way. And you know what that means?" My hand gripped the finger tighter and tighter until finally, I snapped it off, "By being with me, I can allow you to be on the death row as well. Now, how does it feel?"

The man screamed in pain as I released him, allowing him to topple backward and trip over himself.

"You!" The other sidekick got angry and rushed up towards me. His figure wasn't exactly the fittest, and after fighting with the red man, everything else just feels slow now.

Stifling a yawn, I dodged the punch with a hair's breadth as my legs raised up to kick the chin of the sidekick.

<Baek Rok>

The man stood no chance and instantly lost consciousness as he started foaming. Wow, he's so weak...

"You...!" The man with the broken finger picked up his shovel and tried to hit me. But before I could counter-attack, Shiro rushed in from the side and tackled him to the side, causing him to smash against the building under construction.

"No bully Fuutarou!" Shiro crossed her arms and spoke, "And lie is bad! Fuutarou said, 'I never kill my friend'!"

This girl...how cute. Bully me? I think anyone who was observing this without bias would know that I am anything but bullied.

Two of the three men were already down, and the last one was currently peeing in his pants.

BOOM!

Now what?! What is interrupting me...shit.

The sky above me turned dark as a huge metallic ball came toppling down towards me.

Who on Earth is trying so hard to kill me that they planted a freaking bomb in prison?! Am I not going to die soon anyway?! Can't they just wait a bit longer?!

But I wasn't too worried about the ball. It could fall onto the "bullies" and kill them for all I care. As for Shiro and me?

Who do you think we are?
