Reincarnated Into Destiny Universe

Chapter 19 - One Fell Swoop Prt. 2

(Day 35)

"Damn, that was fun! I'm not sure what that means but for whatever reason it felt good yelling it on the way down. Anywho, to the task at hand. It seems that my grand entrance has woken up the big baddie. That should be him pulling himself together there in the middle. You ready to do this, ghost?" Daniel asked.

"Ready when you are." His ghost replied.

"You know what, I really should give you a name whenever we're done here. It's getting kind of weird calling you 'ghost,' especially since Polter already has a name but first thing's first. Come here, ya overgrown rust bucket. I need to take out all your insides to make sure they're not functional."

Daniel shifted his focus onto the Nexus Mind that was descending from the middle of the ceiling. Daniel ignored the other enemies in the room for now. He used the various pillars and other obstacles around the edges of the room as cover to avoid their fire.

As the Nexus Mind completed its descent, Daniel carefully gauged its movements, the movement of its shields, and the movement of the surrounding enemies to determine the best place to take his stance. After the Nexus Mind had located Daniel and had attacked him twice, he managed to find an opening in both the surrounding enemies fire and the Nexus Mind's shields.

Timing his movements perfectly, he landed directly on the spot, where the Nexus Mind's latest volley of Void Energy had exploded. In less than two seconds he summoned his Arc Staff, took up a spear throwing stance, used his Hunter training to accurately aim the shot, and sent the Arc Staff flying forward at an unbelievable speed.

The Arc Staff, that had been overcharged with Arc Energy in order to propel it forward like a rail gun's discharge, crashed into the Nexus Mind's eye and buried over two thirds of itself into the Mind's metal frame. Upon witnessing the absolute success of his very first Arc Rail Shot, Daniel began laughing quiet heartily as he shifted his attention to the smaller enemies.

He had realized that his idea, to use Void Flames and ultra fast attacks to slowly burn down his enemies, was not something that would work well on heavily armored foes. Having come to this realization, he knew he needed another high damage output ability. After the group training with the rest of the team, he was inspired by both Bravo and Laurel's use of Arc Energy. This was his first time testing the Arc Rail Shot against an enemy and he was not the slightest bit disappointed.

Daniel thought that he might have one shotted the Nexus Mind, due to how erratic and shaky its movements had become while suffering the effects of the Arc Staff. However, after the Arc Staff dispersed, the Nexus Mind remained intact, despite the massive damage to its eye and the errant sparks randomly issuing forth from its frame.

The Mind's aim had been quite noticeably diminished as a result of Daniel's attack. Daniel barely needed to concern himself with the Mind's random firing, as he dealt with all the small fries.

With the last small fry out of the picture, Daniel once again positioned himself and took aim at the Nexus Mind. This time he unloaded four consecutive rocket launcher rounds directly at the Mind's already weakened eye, before switching to sniper fire. Each round visibly shook the Mind, as it was clearly on its last leg? air pocket? levitational force? whatever!

After Daniel landed his sixth sniper round into the Mind's eye, the Nexus Mind began violently quaking. The sparks it was issuing forth also became more violent, as it reached its breaking point. All the energies, maintaining the Mind's various mechanisms and functions, coalesced around its center and then, in an impressive explosion, sent the Nexus Mind's parts and pieces flying to every corner of the room.

Daniel quickly maneuvered out of the way, as a piece of the Nexus Mind flew past him. "Haha, the Vex are gonna have to do better than that, if they want to keep this Hunter down."

"That was indeed much easier than I thought it would be. Although, it was mostly due to your impressive performance, with that Arc Rail Shot. That really is a powerful ability." Daniel's ghost said.

"Oh, yeah! There aren't too many enemies that can take one of my Arc Rail Shots and not regret it. That being said, I think I know what I'm going to call you now."

     "And what might that be?"

     "How about, OneShot?"

"Actually, that's not bad. I like it. I'll be OneShot, from now on."

"Awesome! Then let's head over to the Ember Caves and meet up with the others, OneShot."

----------

Koren arrived in Winter's Run and dropped down a short cliff, that preceded the area where the Archon Priest's cell was being held. Koren sped into the awaiting Fallen and began utilizing his newly developed Enemy Ammo Technique, which had recently been upgraded by the insights he gained from Bravo's training.

Koren had spent the majority of the past two weeks focused exclusively on trying to increase his strength. Practicing EAT had been his second highest priority. He had managed to make it all the way to Winter's Run without taking a single hit and had absolutely decimated those who stood before him. He knew that he still had a long way to go, before reaching the level of Saint-14 but, after this two weeks of training he felt almost invincible. When he combined that with the knowledge that his teammates would have an even higher survival rate thanks to his contributions in developing the EAT, he was about as happy as had ever been, since he was first arisen as a Guardian.

After clearing out several of the surrounding enemies, Koren noticed that the door to the Archon's cell was about to open. He stood there full of confidence and defiance daring that ugly a.s.s Archon Priest to step out of his cell. As Aksor, the Archon Priest looked out of his cell, for the first time in who knows how long, he saw Koren standing there and daring him exit. This action outraged the Archon Priest and he immediately jumped onto the ground below and began firing his Shrapnel Launcher, while summoning more Fallen to his aid.

Koren immediately took evasive action, while allowing Aksor to step away from his cell. As soon as there was a decent amount of distance between Aksor and his cell, Koren utilized a modified version of Laurel's Blink Domain. Only stretching a single strand of Arc Energy towards and past Aksor's feet, Koren immediately Blinked behind Aksor with his Arc Blades drawn. He then sent Kinetic Slashes towards the back of the Archon Priest's knees.

This surprise attack stunned Aksor but Koren wasn't finished. He quickly put away his blades and used the "get the f.u.c.k outta my face" Kinetic Energy Melee ability that Isaac had showed him. Utilizing the F.u.c.k Off Melee Attack in both hands and targeting the back of Aksor's knees again, the Archon Priest was forced onto his knees, like a bitch.

As soon as Aksor hit his knees, Koren noticed the priest bringing his Shrapnel Launcher up to fire behind him and into Koren's face. Using another FOMA, he sent the Shrapnel Launcher flying across the rocky terrain, while conjuring his Ward of Destruction. This time, instead of causing it to form a bubble and spread out, he kept the ward wrapped tightly around his body. Koren wrapped the Archon Priest up in an inescapable head lock and poured every ounce of his strength into it.

Aksor knew he was in deep shit the moment he became trapped in the headlock. Aksor made every effort to try and free himself from Koren's powerful grip but it was of no use. He started by trying to ineffectively punch him and that soon devolved into just mad flailing.

Koren not only had his Ward of Destruction protecting him but also his Multilayered Shield that Isaac had taught him, so he could safely ignore the few projectiles that actually managed to hit him instead of Aksor.

It took nearly twelve seconds but, upon seeing Aksor's armor about to give, Koren gave one last all powerful jerk and twist and Aksor's head was abruptly separated from his body sending a thick stream of Ether into the air.

This sight caused all of the remaining Fallen to be absolutely dumbstruck with fear. Everyone of the remaining Fallen, after recovering from the shock of what they had just seen, immediately turned and fled. Koren walked over and picked up the slightly damaged and oversized Shrapnel Launcher.

"This seems like a nice prize. It's a little damaged but I'm sure Banshee can fix it up for me."

With these thoughts, Koren went once more over the battlefield collecting any engrams and so forth. After securing all the available loot, he picked up Aksor's head and body, placed them across the front of his sparrow, and made his way back to the Ember Caves to meet up with his teammates.

----------

Fireteam Ferra landed in the Barrens on Mars. Ferra's ghost guided them to a nearby Cabal outpost, so they could link with their sparrows. Isaac had told them that the Cabal had Mars on lockdown and that the first order of business would be to break through their exclusion zone.

After arriving at the outpost and hack the necessary console to access their sparrows, a large semicircular door in front of them began opening up.

"Laurel, Bravo, as soon as there is enough room, go through the door, ignore everything in your way, and start moving towards your destination."

By the time she had finished her statement, the doors were already halfway open and so Laurel and Bravo wasted no time in following her orders. Easily making their way through the incoming enemies even the ones who tried to chase them, the two Hunters broke free of the assault and moved on to their individual destinations.

Ferra stayed in place and engaged the Cabal forces. In less than three minutes, the attacking Cabal had been laid to waste, their sparrows were made available, and Ferra was on her way to the next point of interest. Having their sparrows freed up, Laurel and Bravo were able to make much better time.

Isaac had told Ferra that they needed more information about the Black Garden and the Cabal would probably have it. After clearing out those Cabal, she knew where to get that information but she also knew that she would have to do a lot more backtracking than necessary, if she went for it now. Having already accomplished the most immediately useful part of this mission, accessing their sparrows, she made her way into the Hollows.

She traveled through the Hollows and into the Dust Palace. After clearing out the Cabal there and accessing a Golden Age machine which was being controlled by Rasputin, she worked her way back and over to the Buried City. Going down into Freehold Station, she continued on into Tharsis Junction, where she shutdown a series of Vex transfer portals.

Making her way back outside once again, Ferra got back on the Black Garden's trail. Moving through the Drift and the Scablands, she arrived in Giant's Pass. At the top of a hill with Cabal playing host to a Cabal outpost, Ferra's ghost accessed the Cabal's systems once again to find out how to access the Black Garden's information.

The information could apparently be obtained at separate outpost but a key was required and they didn't have one. Luckily their hacking was not subtle and managed to rouse the attention of Bracus Tho'ourg, a Cabal Commander.

Tho'ourg was dropped in via a Cabal ship that seemed to think that it could just fly away after dropping him off. Ferra didn't think so and hurled a fast moving and devastating Nova Bomb at the fleeing ship causing it to explode into millions of pieces. She, of course, wasn't finished and threw another Nova Bomb at the Cabal below. Aiming so that it would only injure Tho'ourg, she finished him off with her blades wrapped in a Void Cloak, as her ghost extracted the key from his corpse.

Key in hand, Ferra made her way to the next outpost overlooking the gate to the Black Garden. Her ghost hacked the target terminal and retrieved the Cabal's knowledge of the Black Garden.

Having finished all of her missions, Ferra decided to go back through Giant's Pass, take the scenic route over to the Trenchworks, and clear out any Cabal or Vex that were unfortunate enough to cross her path.

----------

Laurel finally arrived at the Legion's Keep and had to take out a squad of Phalanxes and Centurions led by a Colossus, before making it to the Garden's Spire.

Isaac had told her to keep any Vex eyes or brains that she came across as they might be required to activate the spire. She, of course, had done just that and had several on hand.

After clearing out the few Cabal posted around the spire, she gave her ghost the task of trying to lure out this Commander she was supposed to eliminate, without using one of the Vex parts. Her ghost started mucking about with the spire not trying at all to be subtle. If the Cabal had any safeguards on this thing his blatant blundering around in the Vex system should alert them.

Luckily, their little show managed to draw an audience, without using any of the Vex parts. Ferra saw that the door on the far side of the spire was about to open and started getting excited. She ran over and concealed herself beside the door. She watched as Primus Sha'aull, rushed out of the door ready for action, with his retinue following behind him.

As the last Cabal passed through the door, Laurel snuck up behind the nearest Cabal, with her Shock Blades drawn, and planted both blades into its neck via the gaps in its armor. The unfortunate Centurion fell to the ground as she moved onto the next.

While Laurel was killing the first of his crew, Sha'aull was looking around trying to find the location of the intruder. Laurel managed to take out three of his crew before they even noticed anything.

By the time they realized three of their number were dead, a fourth was falling to the ground. They were all now on high alert but it hardly mattered. Death had come for them and she didn't have any other plans.

Laurel continued to silently and invisibly slaughter all twelve of Sha'aull's team. Sha'aull, realizing that this phantom had no prey left other than himself, mustered every ounce of willpower that he had to resist the urge to run away in terror.

As Sha'aull was wildly waving his massive gatling gun around and firing randomly, Laurel Blinked directly behind his head and performed the same strike that she had used, on the others, but this time she sent two powerful waves Arc Energy directly into his body, one through each of her blades. Realizing that this wasn't enough to kill the bastard, she lit him up again and then a third time for good measure.

Primus Sha'aull fell to his knees and then onto his face, as his blackened and charred body sent smoke and the odor of burnt flesh into the air.

Maintaining her invisibility while attacking and blinking used up alot of her Light Charge but it was worth it. She was almost completely out of Light Charge but she was supremely satisfied with her performance here and couldn't wait to get back to tell the others.

----------

Bravo had just entered a large open room inside of Cerberus Vea III. The room had twenty foot high platforms on each side, with head level platforms under them. On both ends of the platforms there was a large door. Hanging from the ceiling was a large almost conical structure but it didn't come to a point.

Bravo cleared out the Cabal posted inside this room and, soon afterwards, the large door next to where he entered began to open. Soon a massive Colossus looking Cabal walked through the door carrying an equally massive gatling gun. Valus Ta'aurc spotted Bravo almost immediately and began targeting him.

Bravo pulled out his rocket launcher, boosted himself into the air, and began floating around Valus Ta'aurc's head, while firing his rocket launcher at it. Six rockets later, Bravo descend to the ground and Vanished. He made his way to the top of one of the platforms and then put a sniper round into Ta'aurc's head.

Moving onto the conical structure hanging on the ceiling, he plotted a precise course from his position to Ta'aurc's head. Dropping his invisibility after putting Ta'aurc in his sights, Bravo fired three more sniper rounds into the Commander's head.

Bravo then left the ceiling structure and began floating towards Ta'aurc, while sustaining his sniper fire. Bravo redirected some of his Light Charge into replenishing his shields, that had been worn down a decent bit by the surrounding enemies.

After four more sniper rounds, Bravo had reached Ta'aurc's severly damaged helmet. Summoning all of his strength supplemented by the LAMP technique, he grabbed Ta'aurc's helmet and ripped it off. Conjuring a double stuffed Void Vortex Grenade, Bravo planted it directly into the ugly f.u.c.ker's face and then summoned his Arc Staff. He stabbed the Arc Staff into the back of the Commander's neck and then summoned another Arc Staff.

Using every last bit of his Light, he once again summoned that overwhelming pillar of Arc Energy and directed it into the Arc Staff sticking out of Ta'aurc's neck. Valus Ta'aurc breathed one last steaming breath, before falling onto his not so trusty gatling gun.

Bravo smiled gleefully, as he went after the other Cabal that had been attacking him. 'Despite all that giant baffoon's armor, weapons, and mass, he didn't stand a chance in front of superior mobility and tactics.'

"Ghost, clean up this mess and let's get back to the others. Yours truly has a bit of gloating to do."

Bravo's ghost cleared the room of loot and resources, before rejoining Bravo for their trip back to the Trenchworks.
