The doors of the audience chamber closed with a heavy thud.

The only ones remaining in the room are a few knights, Reynaldo, and the King.

The Queen had disappeared amidst the commotion and is currently being searched for.

It was unfortunate because he wanted to take revenge simultaneously, but Reynaldo did not mind if he accomplished his revenge in sequence.

King Gray remained restrained while a knight held a sword to his throat. He was glaring at Reynaldo, unable to move.

Despite his glare, King Gray resembled a small animal caught before being preyed upon, with sweat on his cheeks and a pale face.

How many times has Reynaldo dreamed of this moment?

Two decades had passed since the death of his sister, but Reynaldo had never once forgotten his burning desire for revenge. Now, as he witnessed the scene unfolding before him, he couldn’t help but think about what he would say, having lived solely for this moment.

‘How does it feel, just like my sister in the past? Look at you, in such a pitiful state. Are you going to cry and beg for forgiveness?’

However, when the moment actually comes, Reynaldo failed to speak.

In the midst of this, Gray was the one who broke the silence.

“Are you going to kill me?”

“….”

Reynaldo remains silent.

When faced with such an obvious statement, he’s at a loss as to how to respond.

Isn’t it only natural to consider killing him?

“Is this revenge for Rosemary?”

“Don’t you dare mention my sister’s name.”

A deep sense of disgust welled up within him, and Reynaldo spat out his response.

Gray laughs.

“The brother of a sinner is also a sinner.”

“Should I cut off that mouth of yours for insulting my sister?”

Despite recognizing it as a provocation, Reynaldo pulls out his own sword and points it toward the King. Should he start by extracting his tongue?

“Isn’t it the truth? It’s in your bloodline to kill people like your sister did. How disgraceful. A wretched family that brings harm to its country!”

“How many times have I told you that my sister had no intention of committing murder!”

The foolish king did not believe any word he threw at him. No, perhaps he simply lacked the capacity to comprehend.

He still holds the belief that Rosemary plotted to kill Tia.

“The crime of disregarding my sister, who thought of you more than anyone else and made every effort to rectify the country, is grave. You, who cannot see the truth, are nothing but pathetic. And I pity my sister whose life was cut short by you.”

“You said your sister is pitiful?”

“After witnessing the Queen’s treachery for so long, what right do you have to speak? Your inability to truly love Prince Risel is also because of the Queen’s actions. Despite the clear bloodline connection, you doubt whether he is your own son. You are nothing but a foolish king.”

“Shut up!”

Reynaldo taunts the foolish king, knowing well that he is easily provoked.

What has this king been living for all this time? To become such a puppet, manipulated at the whims of his entourage, yet not even realizing the truth. In a way, he must have led a blissfully ignorant life.

For Reynaldo as well, the King was an inconsequential figure as long as his sister wasn’t involved.

However, if Rosemary were to officially become the queen, Reynaldo had been promised to serve the future heir to the throne, born to Rosemary.

He had intended to serve with joy if it was his sister’s child. But perhaps not marrying such a foolish king was the only salvation for his sister in the end.

No, that’s not it.

He knew that Gray was a foolish fiancé, so he should have taken Rosemary and run away with her, even if he was still young.

He had thought about that many times when he saw his sister actually being persecuted.

He had even verbalized it before. However, being too young, he lacked planning and taking action. Merely expressing his feelings to his sister would earn him gratitude and words of thanks, but they never followed through with actually executing the plan.

At that time.

When his sister was suffering.

If only he had been older.

If he had not been a child.

If only he had the ability to think like he does now.

Although Reynaldo’s anger was always directed at Gray and Tia.

He also could not forgive himself, who was helpless as a child.

The person he wanted to exact revenge on the most.

It was probably himself.

Reynaldo had never envisioned anything beyond completing his revenge.

Even though he had spent twenty years thinking about how to get revenge, and worked out a strategy.

He had never considered what would come after that.

However, to be able to finally achieve a long overdue revenge.

For Reynaldo, it may be the end of the road, the time when he can finally sleep peacefully.

The memory of the execution that he sometimes sees in his dreams. The days when he would recall the happy past, and burns with regret.

Somewhere deep in the corner of his mind, he was calmly waiting for the day when he would finally find peace.

‘Soon, Sister Rosemary.’

“King Gray Diresias, I purge you on behalf of the people.”

Reynaldo announces, paraphrasing the lines from a story that Rosemary once favored.

“O, wicked king! I shall punish you on behalf of the people.”

“Read the next one, Reynaldo.”

“Yes. And so, the wicked king was defeated by the knight. The rescued princess then said to the knight, ‘Thank you, my noble knight.’ The princess went on to marry the new prince and together they brought lasting peace to the kingdom. And the princess’s knight remained steadfast in protecting the new prince and princess.”

Reynaldo cannot become a knight.

And he can’t be the prince, either.

However, he wishes this could end like the ending of the storybook.

While reminiscing about the scenes he acted out with his sister together in their childhood, he brandished his sword.

A horrific scream reverberated in his ears.

It was the voice that signaled the beginning of his revenge.
